The Diplomat Bucharest reported a €625,000 contribution for the initiative on September 30, 2026, as part of Auchan Romania’s 20th-anniversary community projects. The report does not say that the homes are complete or that €625,000 is the full project budget.
What the project involves
The partnership brings together Auchan Romania and Habitat for Humanity Romania to support the construction of 10 homes for families in vulnerable situations. The reported €625,000 contribution is associated with the initiative, but The Diplomat Bucharest does not clarify whether it covers all construction costs or represents the total project budget. The Diplomat Bucharest’s September 30, 2026 report presents the project as one of Auchan Romania’s community initiatives marking 20 years in the country.
How customers and schools are involved
Collectible houses sold in Auchan stores
Customers can buy collectible construction houses in Auchan stores. The report says proceeds support construction of the real homes, linking the in-store fundraiser to the housing initiative.
Construction-themed activities in schools
Auchan plans to provide construction-based educational kits to schools in 18 cities. Students will use the kits to build toy houses as a group activity. This is a separate educational component of the initiative, not a statement that those kits are the homes’ construction materials.

What has—and has not—been announced
Auchan Romania Marketing and Customer Relations Director Raluca Mindirigiu described the wider anniversary effort this way: “Twenty years alongside Romanian consumers have taught us that relevance comes from the value we bring into people’s lives every day.”
The report does not identify the beneficiary families or communities, provide a construction schedule, describe home designs or standards, or confirm delivery. It therefore supports describing the initiative as planned support for 10 homes—not as 10 completed homes.
