Four organisations have submitted proposals to restore and bring Lewisham’s Grade II listed Ladywell Playtower back into use. The council is asking residents to review the proposals and share their views from 5 October to 16 November 2026; the online survey closes at 9am on 16 November.
Who are the Ladywell Playtower finalists?
Lewisham Council has named four organisations whose proposals are now open for public review:
- Hackit CIC
- Liquid Listening
- RUSS (Rural Urban Synthesis Society)
- Turner Works
The council’s announcement links to the submitted proposals, but does not describe the organisations’ individual concepts. The announcement alone therefore does not establish what uses, designs, heritage work, funding or operating models any finalist is proposing. Read each submission before comparing the plans; do not infer its contents from the organisation’s name or earlier plans for the site. Lewisham Council’s announcement and proposal links.
What should residents compare?
The council asks residents to consider the proposals against four areas:

- Restoration: how well the proposal would restore the Playtower.
- Community benefit: what benefit the proposal would bring to the community.
- Return to use: how it would bring the currently empty building back into use.
- Overall preference: which proposal residents prefer.
The council has not stated a weighting among these criteria. Consider them separately, then decide which proposal best balances the building’s restoration with community value and a credible route back into use.
How to have your say
- Visit the council’s consultation page and open the submitted proposals.
- Review each proposal against the council’s stated criteria, then complete the online survey. The consultation runs from 5 October to 16 November 2026; the survey closes at 9am on 16 November.
- If you prefer to attend in person, go to the public drop-in on Thursday 15 October, 3pm–8pm, at St Mary’s Centre, Ladywell Road, SE13 7UW.
What happens after the consultation?
Lewisham Council says community feedback will inform its final decision later in 2026. The announcement does not name a preferred partner or establish which proposal will be selected.

The council says more than 500 residents shared views during earlier engagement in 2026. Councillor Daniel Dream, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Regeneration, Planning and Housing Delivery, said: “This loved historic building has incredible potential and has stood empty for far too long.”
