As of an October 5, 2026 report, construction of a VIP club, roads and parking was underway at Wellington International’s expanded Global Dressage Festival grounds. The same report said key competition facilities were ready and quoted Wellington International CEO Michael Stone saying, “We look like we will make it” for the planned January 13, 2027 start. That is an expectation, not confirmation that the venue has final approval or will be complete on time.
What is being built at the expanded venue?
Dressage-News reported that the base for a new VIP club and a network of roads and parking were under construction at the expanded Wellington International site. The report also credited the Village of Wellington with completing access roads outside the venue. These works support visitor access and hospitality alongside the competition facilities; the report did not give a completion date for the club, roads or parking network.
Which facilities were reported ready?
The October 5 report described the permanent stabling expansion, competition and warmup arenas, state-of-the-art floodlights and covered arena as ready. It gave the covered arena’s dimensions as 419 feet long by 200 feet wide (127 by 61 meters), which it said is 60 feet (18 meters) longer than the Van Kampen covered arena at the current Global facility.
Dressage-News reported that the expansion added more than 300 stalls, compared with 200 at Equestrian Village, and described the new stalls as larger and airier. These are figures and descriptions from the news report, not independently verified measurements.

Its listed highlights included a CDI5*, three World Cup qualifiers and an early-March CDIO3* Nations Cup, scheduled in the same week as a jumping CSIO4*.

Is the venue confirmed to be ready for January 13?
No final readiness confirmation or completion date appears in the report. Stone’s statement, “We look like we will make it”, is an executive’s expectation about the January 13 start, not a guarantee. The report also says redevelopment of the existing Equestrian Village by Wellington Lifestyle Partners cannot begin until the new Global grounds are approved for competition. It provides no approval record or confirmed approval date, so approval remains a separate milestone from construction progress.
