Antrim County was expected to begin two Public Safety Center preparation projects in October 2026, according to a report published by 9&10 News on October 5. That is a reported schedule, not confirmation that construction has started. The work involves parking and pedestrian improvements near the courthouse, plus sewer and utility work around Grove Street and E. Cayuga Street.
What the preparation projects include
The work is divided into two packages in the area of the existing courthouse and county facilities. They are preparatory infrastructure projects; the report separately places groundbreaking for the Public Safety Center in spring 2027.
Courthouse-area parking, drainage and sidewalks
The first package is a new parking lot north of the 1905 Courthouse, with storm sewer, curbs and sidewalks. A sidewalk is also planned along Broad Street beside the existing Sheriff’s Office and Health Department building.
The report expected the courthouse entrance to move temporarily to the south side, facing E. Cayuga Street, while this work is underway. It listed parking on the south side of the County Building, along Broad Street, or in the lot north of Broad Street. Follow posted signs and any on-site directions during construction.

Sewer and utility work near Grove Street

Grove Street: temporary work closure versus planned permanent closure
Grove Street is expected to close temporarily during the sewer and utility work, then reopen when that work is complete. The October 5 report said a permanent closure was not anticipated until spring 2027. That timing is a forecast, not confirmation of a closure date or of current traffic conditions.
