Charlton Heston’s former Beverly Hills estate at 2859 Coldwater Canyon Drive is reported sold. The $10.5 million figure was its reported asking price when it returned to the market in 2025—not a current listing price or a confirmed sale price. Brokerage pages now mark the property sold but show conflicting amounts.
What happened to the $10.5 million listing?
Mansion Global reported in 2025 that the estate was being offered for $10.5 million. That was an asking price at the time, not evidence of what a buyer ultimately paid. The Carolwood Estates property page marks the estate sold and displays $11.2 million, while Hilton & Hyland also marks it sold and displays $11.7 million. Because the two brokerage pages conflict, neither amount should be treated as a definitively verified closing price. (Mansion Global; Carolwood Estates; Hilton & Hyland)
Earlier transactions provide context, but they do not settle the latest sale. The Los Angeles Times reported a $12,212,000 sale in 2016. Brentwood News later reported that the current seller acquired the estate through a trust in April 2024 for $7.8 million. These are separately reported transaction figures, not a continuous record of the property’s value. (Los Angeles Times; Brentwood News)
What is the Charlton Heston estate?
The property is at 2859 Coldwater Canyon Drive in Beverly Hills. Built in 1959 and designed by architect William S. Beckett, it was Heston’s home for nearly half a century, until his death in 2008. The estate occupies nearly three acres and includes a main residence as well as a multi-story studio and guesthouse, a screening room, tennis facilities and private access to Franklin Canyon trails. Why do descriptions of its size and bedrooms differ?
Published figures do not all count the same things. The Los Angeles Times described the property in 2016 as nearly 9,700 square feet, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms. Current listing descriptions use different bedroom totals and property-area figures; totals may depend on whether guest quarters are included, and listing records may reflect different counting conventions or alterations. Hilton & Hyland cautions that its measurements and square footage are approximate and should be verified. It is therefore more accurate to describe the compound’s components than to state one unqualified bedroom or square-footage total. (Los Angeles Times; Hilton & Hyland)

2025 reporting said the home had been stripped to the studs during an unfinished remodel. The listing presented it as an opportunity for restoration and referred to plans to enlarge it. Those plans describe a proposed project, not completed construction or guaranteed approvals. The available reporting does not establish that the proposed work was carried out. (Mansion Global)
