Astribot S1: What Its Household-Chore Demo Shows—and What It Doesn’t

The Astribot S1’s launch video showed chores such as vacuuming and serving tea. Here’s what that footage—and the company’s current product page—does and doesn’t establish.

Astribot’s S1 appeared to handle a range of household-style tasks in a 2024 launch video, including making waffles, serving tea and vacuuming. That footage shows a promotional demonstration, not proof that the robot can reliably do chores in an ordinary home. Astribot’s current product page presents the S1 as a research and development robot, not a generally available consumer home robot.

What the S1 did in the launch video

New Atlas reported on August 22, 2024, that Astribot’s launch video showed the S1 performing a varied reel of chore-like and recreational activities. The demonstrations included making waffles, feeding a cat, serving tea, shooting hoops, vacuuming, giving martial-arts instruction and playing with the cat through a VR-mediated interaction. These are tasks depicted in company launch footage; the video is not an independent test of household performance. New Atlas’s August 22, 2024 report describes the footage.

How the launch-version robot was built

The 2024 coverage described the S1 as using motorized wheels and a single bending support rather than two articulated legs, with a two-digit gripper. That makes it different from a conventional bipedal humanoid, even though its upper body and task demonstrations give it a human-like role in the video. The article also noted a visible cable and said the company had not detailed the hardware or AI learning methods behind the demonstrations.

New Atlas reported Astribot’s claim that the video was genuine and recorded at 1× speed, and that teleoperation was used only for the play-with-the-cat segment. Those details are company claims reported in the coverage, not independently confirmed findings. They do not establish how much setup, supervision or recovery would be needed during repeated use.

What Astribot says the S1 is for now

Astribot’s current English product page describes the S1 as a scientific research version and lists APIs, developer guidance, simulation support, AI deployment guidance and teleoperation data collection. That points to a platform for research and development rather than a ready-to-buy domestic appliance. The page does not establish general consumer availability, a household purchase route or a sales region for the S1. Astribot’s current S1 product page is the source for its positioning and published specifications.

Current published specifications

The following are figures published by Astribot on its product page, checked October 5, 2026. They are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements.

These specifications describe stated capacity and dimensions; on their own, they do not show whether the S1 can complete a particular household task safely, consistently or without human intervention.

Can the Astribot S1 really do household chores?

The careful answer is that Astribot’s 2024 promotional video showed chore-like demonstrations, but the reviewed sources do not establish reliable everyday household use. They provide no independent, repeatable measurement of household-task reliability or domestic usefulness. Nor do they establish that consumers can currently buy the S1. Astribot’s homepage lists a price for the T1, a different model; it is not an S1 price. Astribot’s English homepage identifies the company’s current product overview.
