What the prices do—and do not—tell you
The figures here are reported transaction prices tied to specific years. They reflect what a buyer or seller reportedly paid or received at the time; they do not establish what a property is worth now. Published acreage and features also vary by source, and current occupancy is not consistently verified.
This is an editorial selection of seven notable celebrity connections to Montecito estates, not a definitive list of its seven most expensive properties.
Seven notable Montecito estate histories
1. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: reported $14.65 million purchase
The Los Angeles Times reported in 2020 that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought a Montecito home in an off-market transaction for $14.65 million. The paper said tax records and associated entities supported the identification. Architectural Digest described the estate in 2021 as spanning 7.4 acres and rounded the purchase price to $14.7 million. These are reports about the acquisition, not a current valuation or confirmation of present occupancy.

2. Oprah Winfrey and Jeff Bridges: a Spanish Revival ranch sold, then resold
Jeff Bridges sold Oprah Winfrey a Spanish Revival ranch in 2019 for a reported $6.85 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. The four-acre property included a pool, spa, guesthouse, poolhouse, carriage house and equestrian stables. Winfrey sold it in 2025. Architectural Digest reported a $17.1 million sale price, while other contemporary coverage gave a different figure; the numbers should not be treated as a settled single valuation. Bridges is relevant here as the ranch’s former owner, not its current owner. The Los Angeles Times also reported that he sold a separate, nearly 20-acre vineyard estate in 2017 for $15.925 million. That was a different property and a different transaction.

3. Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff: a $13 million acquisition and custom build
Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff reportedly acquired a 6.7-acre Montecito property for $13 million in 2020 and undertook a custom home build. Realtor.com reported the acquisition and building history in 2025. The $13 million is the reported acquisition price, not a current value for the completed property.
4. Ellen DeGeneres: an English Tudor sold to Ariana Grande
The Los Angeles Times reported in 2020 that Ellen DeGeneres sold an English Tudor-style Montecito house to Ariana Grande for $6.75 million. This establishes a former-owner and buyer connection at that time; it does not establish who lives there now.

5. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom: a $15 million property at the center of a dispute
The Associated Press reported in August 2025 that a second trial was underway in a legal dispute concerning Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s Montecito home, associated with a reported $15 million contract price. The dispute involved claims and counterclaims over the sale and alleged property costs; the AP report did not establish a final outcome. Perry testified, “I stand to lose money if it doesn’t work in my favor.” Read the Associated Press account from August 2025 for the status reported at that date.
6. Oprah Winfrey and Adam Levine: a separate $17.27 million transaction
In 2025, Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo bought a Spanish-style Montecito property from Winfrey for a reported $17.27 million, according to Realtor.com. This was a separate property from Winfrey’s four-acre Spanish Revival ranch sold in 2025; the two transactions should not be conflated.

7. Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo: a different mansion reported sold for $60 million
Levine and Prinsloo also sold a different Montecito residence in 2025: a Georgian-style mansion. Architectural Digest reported its sale price as $60 million. Why a transaction price is not a present-day mansion value
A reported sale price documents a particular deal at a particular time. It is not an appraisal, and it cannot establish a current market value without more recent property-specific evidence. This distinction matters especially where a celebrity bought one estate and later sold another, or where coverage uses differing reported figures for the same sale.

For construction-minded readers, acreage and architectural style are useful context, but neither alone tells you the size or condition of the buildings, the scope of improvements, or the cost of maintaining an estate. The cited reporting does not provide comparable building-area or construction-cost data for all seven properties, so these transaction figures should not be used to estimate replacement cost or compare construction budgets.
