Maker Meredith Scheff-King laid out the poster from a compilation associated with Jochen Gros and Friedrich Sulzer. Make: links to a large PNG and a PDF; its 2014 article says the poster can be printed at any size.
Where to download the poster
Make: provides links to the poster as a large PNG and a PDF. Open the Make: post and choose the format you want. Open Up! also lists a poster download on its 50 Digital Wood Joints project page.
Choose the PDF when you want a convenient file for printing, or the PNG when you prefer an image file for viewing or placing in a document. The poster is a visual reference; it is distinct from the collection’s separate CAD and fabrication downloads.
What the 50 joints include
The collection is organized into three groups: frame joints, board joints, and carcass joints. Those categories make it easier to browse connections by the kind of woodworking assembly, rather than treating the poster as an exhaustive chart of traditional joints.

Open Up! presents the compilation as a 2004 C-Lab project by Jochen Gros and Friedrich Sulzer. Its purpose is tied to digitally fabricated woodworking: ArchDaily describes CNC milling and laser cutting as fabrication methods. The project’s separate digital files and PDF assembly guides are described in that coverage; the poster itself should not be mistaken for production-ready CAD files.
Printing or using it as a shop reference
Make: said in 2014 that the downloadable poster could be printed at any size. A larger print may work well as a wall reference, while a smaller one is easier to keep near a workbench or store digitally. Since the article does not specify a minimum print size or guaranteed legibility at every scale, check a sample section at your intended dimensions before ordering a large-format print.
