Which Rittal equipment do the vulnerability records cover?
The headline does not specify a model, advisory, or CVE, so applicability depends on identifying the equipment in question. National Vulnerability Database (NVD) entries describe separate product families; a vulnerability or severity rating attached to one should not be generalized to the rest of Rittal’s portfolio.

The two SK 3232 entries concern the chiller interface; the CMC III and Processing Unit entries are different records. Do not treat their product names, version scope, or severity figures as interchangeable.
Why the SK 3232 vulnerabilities matter
For CVE-2019-13549, NVD’s description is operationally significant: it says core actions such as turning the chiller on or off and changing its temperature set point could be changed without authentication. Unauthorized changes to those controls may affect cooling operation. The entry does not, by itself, establish that every Rittal chiller or every installation is exposed.

CVE-2019-13553 is a distinct entry for the SK 3232-Series interface and the same stated Carel pCOWeb firmware range. Its 9.8 Critical CVSS base score is a measure attached to that specific CVE. It should not be presented as a rating for CVE-2019-13549, CMC III, or all Rittal equipment.
How to check whether your installation is affected
- Identify the equipment. Record the product name and article or model number from the unit label, equipment register, or maintenance documentation. Establish whether it is an SK 3232-Series chiller, CMC III, or CMC III Processing Unit/IoT Interface device.
- Check the installed software version. Use the device’s documented management interface or site records to identify the relevant firmware. For the SK 3232 records, compare the Carel pCOWeb firmware version with the A1.5.3 through B1.2.4 range stated by NVD.
- Find the matching Rittal security advisory. Search Rittal’s product security advisory and PSIRT information for the exact product and version. Confirm the affected versions, available fixes, and any workaround in the advisory itself.
- Apply only the remediation for that device. Follow the matching vendor advisory and your site’s change-control and operational procedures. Do not assume a firmware update for one product family addresses a separate CMC III or chiller issue.
- Ask Rittal PSIRT if applicability is unclear. Provide the product name, article number, installed version, and relevant CVE or advisory identifier so the question can be assessed against the exact equipment.
What Rittal’s advisory process means for operators
Rittal identifies its Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) as the contact for cybersecurity vulnerabilities in its products. Its stated process is to evaluate reports, work with product teams on fixes or mitigations, and coordinate advisories that identify affected products and versions, workarounds, and fix locations. Use the vendor’s current advisory as the authority for remediation rather than relying on a headline or a vulnerability result alone.

Rittal PSIRT’s responsible-disclosure policy says it aims to acknowledge receipt of vulnerability reports within two working days, excluding weekends and public holidays observed in the state of Hesse, Germany. This is an acknowledgment target, not a stated deadline for publishing a fix.

Rittal bulletin RITTAL-SA-2026-0008 concerns ReOS1 PDU3 firmware v10.1.2 and recommends v10.1.3 or later for the listed power distribution units. It is not a cooling-system advisory and does not remediate the SK 3232, CMC III, or Processing Unit records discussed here. Check each bulletin’s named product and affected versions before acting.
