The headline referred to a November 8, 2024 deal report for TCL’s 98-inch Q65 QLED TV, model 98Q651G—not a confirmed offer available today. HotHardware reported an Amazon price of $1,598 and described it as 47% off; it also reported a $1,599.99 price at Best Buy. Those are historical prices, not evidence of current stock or pricing. Is the TCL 98-inch TV really 47% off?
“47% off” was HotHardware’s description of the Amazon deal it reported in November 2024. TCL’s May 2024 launch announcement listed a $3,999.99 MSRP for model 98Q651G. The reported $1,598 sale price is close to 40% below that MSRP when compared directly, so the headline’s 47% figure should not be presented as a calculation from TCL’s MSRP. The retailer’s reference price or another comparison basis may have differed; the available reporting does not establish which one. TCL’s launch announcement.

How much was the TCL 98-inch Q65 at Amazon?
HotHardware reported that Amazon listed the TV for $1,598 on November 8, 2024, and that Best Buy’s reported price was $1,599.99. The article’s “while supply lasts” wording described that time-limited deal context; it does not establish availability now. A later or current listing for another TCL television is not the same product or the same offer.
What model is TCL 98Q651G?
It is TCL’s 98-inch Q Class 4K QLED smart TV, sold as the Q65. The manufacturer’s U.S. product page lists Google TV, four HDMI inputs including one eARC input, and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. TCL identifies a 120Hz panel on the 85- and 98-inch Q65 versions and lists variable refresh rate up to 144Hz for this model. TCL’s launch announcement also used the “Game Accelerator 240” label for 240 VRR gaming; that marketing label is distinct from the product page’s up-to-144Hz VRR specification. These are manufacturer-published specifications and claims, not independent test results. TCL’s 98Q651G product page.

Will a 98-inch TV fit through my doorway?
Do not decide from screen size alone. TCL lists the 98Q651G at 85.8 inches wide and 50.8 inches high with the stand, or 85.8 inches wide, 49.1 inches high, and 2.8 inches deep without it. The two stand feet are 68.5 inches apart. The set weighs 124.6 pounds with the stand and 120.2 pounds without it; the listed shipping carton is 94.3 by 61.2 by 10.0 inches and weighs 202.6 pounds.
- Measure the carton as well as the TV, and check door openings, hallways, stairs, elevator access, and turns along the delivery route.
- Measure the furniture or floor area where the TV will sit; the 68.5-inch stand separation matters if it will rest on a cabinet.
- Confirm delivery and handling arrangements for a 202.6-pound package. These dimensions do not guarantee that the carton will pass through any particular home.
All dimensions and weights above are from TCL’s U.S. specifications for model 98Q651G.
