Hotel Chocolat’s ALL-NEW Velvetiser can make cold as well as hot drinking chocolate. The cold setting is the headline addition; the company also says it redesigned the whisk and inner pod to improve mixing. The available sources establish the feature, but not that fans had been asking for it.
What’s new on the ALL-NEW Velvetiser?
Hotel Chocolat introduced the updated machine in a launch article dated 5 September 2025, highlighting its new cold-chocolate function alongside its familiar hot-drink use. The company describes the redesign as a way to create a smoother, more stable mix, but those performance explanations are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results. Cold as well as hot drinks
The clearest practical change is the added cold setting: the new model is presented as making both hot and cold drinking chocolate. That makes it more versatile than a machine limited to hot chocolate, though the cited product information does not establish which recipes or ingredients work best in cold mode. A redesigned whisk and pod
Hotel Chocolat says the new petal whisk creates air passages, while ridges inside the pod help stabilize the vortex as the drink mixes. It also says the whisk slows towards the end of the cycle to reduce turbulence. These are the company’s explanations of the design, not independently verified engineering findings. The official US collection gives a preparation time of about 2.5 minutes; that is the brand’s stated cycle time, not a guarantee that every drink or use takes exactly that long. Is it worth upgrading from an older Velvetiser?
The decision turns mainly on whether you want cold drinking chocolate. If you use your existing Velvetiser only for hot drinks, the sources establish no independent performance comparison showing that the redesigned whisk and pod alone justify replacing it. If you want the added cold option, that is the specific new capability to weigh against the cost of buying another machine.
