Start with the space you want to heat and the way you expect to use the heater. Then compare the product listing’s wattage, heat settings, controls, stated room coverage, and safety information. Coverage and performance figures on retailer listings are product claims, not independent test results.
- Room and use: Consider whether you need warmth directed toward a person or area, a fan to move warm air, or a radiator-style heater for a room.
- Wattage and settings: Check the listed wattage and available heat settings against your intended use. Wattage alone does not establish how evenly or comfortably a heater warms a particular space.
- Controls: Look for features you will use, such as a thermostat, timer, remote, or operating modes.
- Safety information: Read the listing and manufacturer’s instructions, but do not treat a product’s safety features as a substitute for safe placement and operation.

Oil-filled radiator heaters
An oil-filled radiator is a radiator-style option. Walmart lists a Comfort Zone 1,500W Electric Oil-Filled Radiator Space Heater with a thermostat and stated tip-over and overheat protection. Verify those details on the current product page and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Which electric heater uses the least energy?
No heater type is established as the universal lowest-energy choice. Energy use depends on the heater’s wattage, thermostat and settings, room conditions, and how long and often it runs. Compare the listed wattage and controls, and use a thermostat or timer as appropriate; a product’s claimed coverage does not by itself show how much energy it will use in your space.
