For the clearest published high-capacity option, start with the Steelcase Leap Plus: Steelcase lists it for users up to 500 lb. That capacity is a limit, not a guarantee of comfortable or suitable fit. Compare the chair’s usable dimensions and adjustments with your body, and verify the exact model before ordering. The Herman Miller Aeron Size C is another option to consider if you prefer a large-size mesh chair, but Herman Miller materials show differing capacity figures for it.
What makes an office chair a good choice for a big and tall user?
Weight capacity is a first screening check, not the whole decision. A chair can meet a published capacity and still feel too narrow, too shallow, too low, or restrictive around the arms. Check the seat width and depth, seat-height range, arm clearance, and back dimensions against your needs.
Then consider how you want the chair to feel and move. Mesh and cushioned upholstery have different seat feels; arm adjustability, seat-depth adjustment, and recline style may also affect whether a chair works for your desk and posture. The available manufacturer specifications do not establish which chair is more comfortable for a particular person.

Choose by fit and seat preference next
For the Aeron, Size C is the family’s large option, but size labels and height guidance cannot replace checking the actual dimensions. Compare the seat, arm spacing, seat-height range, and back against your measurements and working posture. If you prefer a cushioned seat over mesh, that preference may weigh against the Aeron regardless of its size designation.
Check the exact Aeron capacity before buying
Herman Miller’s current store listing and its 2023 product sheet do not agree on the maximum user weight for Size C: the former lists up to 400 lb, while the latter gives a 350 lb maximum for sizes B and C. Treat those as version-specific figures, not interchangeable specifications. Confirm the limit for the precise model and configuration with the seller or manufacturer before relying on it.
