For a glass jar blender that can also heat and cook ingredients, the Ninja Foodi Cold & Hot Blender is the standout in RTINGS’ 2026 roundup. The Oster Pro 1200 is a more versatile everyday choice, the BLACK+DECKER Quiet Blender is notable for easier blade access, and the Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher is a basic option for smoothies and soups. These are four tested recommendations for different needs—not a universal ranking.

RTINGS says it has bought and tested 138 blenders; its roundup was updated August 10, 2026. The recommendations below reflect that review’s reported performance, not our own testing. Read the RTINGS glass blender roundup.

How to choose a glass jar blender

Glass is less likely than plastic to scratch, cloud, or retain odors over time, but it can shatter if frozen ingredients strike the jar or a metal spoon is left inside. Glass-jar models also tend to be less powerful than high-end plastic-jar blenders, so these picks are better suited to everyday smoothies and soups than to demanding jobs such as making nut butter or blending large batches of ice.

  • Match the blender to the hardest job you do. Ice crushing and thick mixtures expose the limits of the less powerful options.
  • Check which containers are glass. Some models include a secondary personal jar made of plastic rather than glass.
  • Consider hot-food handling and cleanup together. A blender that heats ingredients may be useful for soup, but a heating element can make the jar harder to wash.
  • Check current listings for price and stock. Prices and availability can change, and no stable current prices were established for these models.

The four recommended glass jar blenders

Ninja Foodi Cold & Hot Blender: best for heated blending

RTINGS names the Ninja its best glass blender in the roundup. Its 64-ounce jar has a heating element built into the base, allowing it to cook ingredients while blending. RTINGS reports strong ice crushing and smooth results with fibrous ingredients, making it suitable for smoothies and soups.

#1 Best Overall
Hamilton Beach Power Elite Blender For Smoothies With Wave Action System
  • POWERFUL BLENDING PERFORMANCE: With 700 watts of peak blending power and stainless steel Ice Sabre blades, this protein shake blender gives you all the power you need to make smoothies, protein shakes, frozen drinks and more.
  • ULTRA-SMOOTH RESULTS WITH PATENTED WAVE~ACTION(R) SYSTEM: As you blend, ingredients are continuously forced down into the blades and circulated around the jar — thoroughly crushing the hardest foods with ease in this smoothie blender.
  • SERVE WITH EASE: The spout on this countertop blender lets you pour contents into your glass without spills or drips, so serving with this electric blender is easy and mess-free.
  • EASY TO CLEAN WITH DISHWASHER SAFE GLASS JAR, LID AND BLADES: This Hamilton Beach blender has a glass jar that holds 40 ounces; The jar, lid, and removable blades on the blender are all dishwasher safe.
  • 12 BLENDING FUNCTIONS FOR MAXIMUM VERSATILITY: This multi-function kitchen blender has 12 functions controlled by 5 buttons on the easy-to-read control panel. It blends and crushes ice for smoothies and milkshakes, purees, dices, chops and more.

The trade-offs are limited manual speed options, a long blending time for the smoothest results, and fixed blades. The jar cannot be immersed because of its heating element, which makes cleaning more difficult. Choose it when heating and blending in one appliance matters more than straightforward washing.

Oster Pro 1200: a mid-range everyday option

The Oster includes a 48-ounce glass main jar and a 24-ounce personal jar; only the main jar is glass. RTINGS reports smooth results with fibrous ingredients and three programs: Green/Frozen Smoothies, Food Chop/Salsa, and Milkshakes. It cannot heat food, although the review says it can blend mixtures that are already hot.

Oster Pro 1200 Smoothie Blender with Glass Jar & 24oz To-Go Cup, Countertop Kitchen Blender with 7 Speeds, 1200W Power, Brushed Nickel
  • Smart settings technology and 7 speeds including 3 pre-programmed settings for the most common blender creations
  • Dual direction blade technology for extra blending power to chop and grind with precision extra wide 3.5” blade system allows ingredients to flow down into the blade easier for faster and smoother results
  • 1200 power watts and 900 watts of ice crushing power
  • 6 cup dishwasher safe Boroclass glass jar withstands thermal shock
  • Pulse feature for added control and precision; Featuring a 50% larger blade system (compared to previous Oster blender models) and patented dual direction blade technology that blends in forward and reverse motion

It handles ice in small amounts—RTINGS says it processes only a few cubes at a time—and thick recipes such as nut butter need stirring or scraping. It is a reasonable fit for everyday blending if you value preset programs and do not expect it to power through large quantities of ice or thick mixtures.

BLACK+DECKER Quiet Blender with Cyclone Glass Jar: easier blade access

This model has a 48-ounce glass main jar, a plastic personal jar, and a listed 900-watt motor. RTINGS describes its purees with fibrous ingredients as smoother than the Oster’s and says it is quieter than the preceding picks. Its removable blades make hand cleaning easier than on a fixed-blade design.

Rank #3
Oster® Classic Series 8-Speed Blender with 6-Cup Glass Jar, Gray
  • Color: Gray
  • Base Material: Plastic
  • Blade Material: Stainless Steel
  • Jar Material: Glass
  • Ice Crushing Button: Yes

Ice crushing is its main limitation: ice can collect beneath the blades, though adding liquid helps. Consider it if accessible blades and quieter operation are more important than consistently even ice crushing.

Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Multi-Function: basic blending

The Wave Crusher has a 40-ounce glass jar and a listed 420-watt motor. RTINGS describes it as a basic choice for smoothies and soups, but reports that it struggles with ice and nut butter and makes less smooth blends with fibrous ingredients. It has no automatic programs, so you must stop blending manually.

Rank #4
BLACK+DECKER PowerCrush Multi-Function Blender with 6-Cup Glass Jar, 4 Speed Settings, Silver
  • 4-Tip QuadPro Blade Technology - The 4-tip stainless steel blending blade works with the shape of the jar to create a constant flow and vortex that leads ingredients directly to the blades for fast blending performance.
  • 4 Speeds - From smooth blending to powerful ice crushing, the four speed functions (low, hi, low pulse, hi pulse) can handle any job with ease from creamy smoothies to icy drinks and more
  • 6-Cup PerfectPour Glass Jar - The thick, sturdy glass jar has a classic feel with advanced performance, and the spout is molded for easy pouring
  • Dishwasher-Safe Removable Parts - Cleanup is a breeze with the dishwasher-safe jar, blade, and lid.
  • 700W Motor - The energetic motor delivers 700W at peak performance* to easily crush and blend an array of ingredients. For continuous use, the blender uses 350W of power.

For hot food, the review reports that the manufacturer advises against adding more than 25 ounces to the 40-ounce jar. Check the current manual for the applicable instruction before using it with hot ingredients.

Cleaning and handling glass safely

Jar design matters as much as material. The BLACK+DECKER’s removable blades provide direct access for hand cleaning, while the Ninja’s fixed blades and heating element mean its jar cannot be immersed. Follow the model’s current care instructions rather than immersing a heated-base jar or assuming the blade assembly is removable.

Other glass jar models and current pricing

The four models above are the tested recommendations in RTINGS’ roundup, not the only glass jar blenders on the market. KitchenAid currently lists a Pure Power Blender with a 62-ounce glass jar, but the available comparison does not establish it as one of these four picks. See KitchenAid’s product listing. Hamilton Beach also maintains a glass jar blender category page.

Neither a live price nor current stock is established here. Check a retailer or manufacturer listing at the time of purchase, and confirm the exact jar configuration: a personal-size container may be plastic even when the main pitcher is glass.
