A blinking Wash light does not identify one fault on every Samsung washer. The cause depends on your model, the full combination of blinking lights, and whether the washer is operating abnormally. Record those details first, then match them to your model’s manual or Samsung’s support guidance.
What a blinking Wash light means
On Samsung washers without a digital display, combinations of blinking lights can indicate an error, and the full combination determines what the code means. The Wash light by itself is not enough to diagnose a problem. Samsung also notes that lights can blink during regular use; as its washer information and error codes guide puts it, “It’s only an error code if something’s wrong.” For example, a cycle that stops mid-way is a sign the washer may not be operating normally.
Identify your washer and the complete light pattern
- Find the washer’s model code. Use Samsung’s Washers support page to look up the model or product name and access its manual.
- Note every light that is blinking—not just Wash—and whether the cycle is continuing, stopping, or showing another problem.
- Use the manual or Samsung’s model-specific support information to interpret that complete pattern. Indicator appearance and availability vary by model.
Without the model number and full pattern, a specific cause cannot be established.
Check water-fill indicators only when they match
Samsung gives a water-fill example for washers without a digital display: depending on the model, the Hot and Small lights or the Hot and Low lights may blink. If that is the pattern, Samsung’s water-fill troubleshooting guide recommends checking that:

- The hot and cold hoses are connected to the correct inlets.
- The hoses are not kinked.
- The water valves are fully open.
Inspect the connections and hoses before considering replacement; a blinking Wash light alone is not evidence that a hose needs to be replaced.
Why the other blinking lights matter
Samsung lists other light combinations as examples of motor, communication, MEMS sensor, and heater errors. Those examples show why the full pattern matters; they do not establish any of those faults from a lone blinking Wash light. Check your model’s manual rather than applying another model’s code.

Restart once or request service
For a blinking combination you cannot identify, Samsung’s general guide says to turn the washer off for 2–3 minutes, turn it back on, and restart the cycle. If the same combination returns while the washer problem continues, request service through Samsung or a qualified appliance service provider.
Do not repeatedly reset the washer to erase a recurring code. Samsung explains in its reset guidance that power cycling can clear stored codes without fixing the underlying issue, and clearing the history can make diagnosis harder. If you need to power-cycle it, Samsung describes unplugging the washer or switching off its breaker and waiting 1–5 minutes; use this as a troubleshooting step, not a substitute for addressing a recurring error.
