Start by identifying whether your Primo cooler is top-loading, bottom-loading, or countertop, then find its model number and matching instructions. For a hot-water problem, Primo’s published first step is a simple power reset followed by a one-hour wait. For leaks, dispensing failures, or no cold water, use Primo’s symptom-specific support rather than guessing at causes or opening the unit.
Before troubleshooting, identify your dispenser
Primo provides different guidance for different dispenser types and models. Check the product label for the model number, then look it up in the Primo manual index. Follow that manual for model-specific directions, especially before cleaning or handling drains and removable parts.
Primo’s support FAQ separates common problems by loading style: top-loading and bottom-loading units each have entries for leaks, failure to dispense, no cold water, and no hot water. Countertop models may have different instructions, so do not assume a procedure for a floor-standing unit applies to yours.
If the cooler is not producing hot water
For both top-loading and bottom-loading dispensers, Primo’s published reset is:

If the problem remains, contact Primo customer service. The published FAQ does not give instructions for opening the electrical housing or replacing heating components; do not attempt those repairs based on this reset guidance.
If it is leaking, will not dispense, or is not cooling
Use the matching symptom entry on Primo’s support page, selecting the correct loading style. Primo points users to troubleshooting videos for these problems, but the page’s written guidance does not establish a universal set of diagnostic steps. Because the cause and remedy can vary by model, avoid dismantling the dispenser or treating cleaning supplies as a fix for a leak, pump, or cooling fault.
Before contacting support, note the model number, loading style, and symptom. If the cooler is leaking, stop using it if doing so is safe; keep people away from any hot water and avoid touching electrical connections or standing water around a plugged-in unit. Follow the model manual and Primo’s instructions for what to do next.

Clean and maintain the dispenser according to its manual
Primo recommends cleaning dispensers about every three months; its guidance also describes a three-to-four-month interval to dissolve mineral deposits, sanitize, and deodorize. The general cleaning procedure is not necessarily identical for every model, so use the matching manual before starting.
Primo lists either 2 tablespoons of regular bleach or 2 cups of distilled white vinegar, plus an empty 5-gallon bottle, a 2-gallon bucket, and a Phillips screwdriver. Its procedure includes turning energy-saving switches off, unplugging the unit, removing the bottle, dispensing remaining water, preparing the solution in the empty bottle, and allowing it to fill the reservoirs. It then calls for unplugging and waiting 10 minutes, draining the solution, rinsing with hot tap water, and flushing through the taps and rear drain before replacing the silicone plug and drain cap. Follow the exact sequence and precautions in your model’s manual; do not mix bleach and vinegar.
Check the hTrio recall exception before using an affected unit
A safety exception applies to certain Primo hTrio multi-purpose beverage dispensers. Primo’s recall notice covers models 601225, 601229, and 601240 manufactured before January 2018. When used above approximately 6,000 feet, an affected unit can leak hot water from or around the tap, creating a burn hazard. If your unit matches the model and date criteria and is used above that elevation, stop using it and contact Primo about replacement. Do not try to repair it yourself; Primo specifically says, “No. Please do not attempt to repair the beverage dispenser yourself.”
