MEATER Pro Duo is a two-probe smart thermometer for tracking two cuts or foods at once. Its dock connects to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, while each probe sends readings to the dock over Bluetooth. That arrangement can extend monitoring beyond the probe’s direct phone range, provided the dock has a reliable connection to your home Wi-Fi.
What MEATER Pro Duo does
The system includes two wireless probes and a charging dock. Each probe contains five internal sensors and one ambient sensor. The app displays the lowest internal sensor reading, rather than an average across the probe’s internal sensors, so placement matters when you want to monitor the coolest part of a piece of food.
The probes measure food temperature while the ambient sensor reports the temperature around the probe. MEATER lists an internal temperature limit of 105°C/221°F and an ambient limit of 550°C/1000°F. The dock’s listed maximum operating temperature is 60°C/140°F; the minimum listed limit is -10°C/14°F. These are product limits, not recommended cooking targets.
Temperature accuracy, construction and charging
| Specification | MEATER Pro Duo listing |
|---|---|
| Internal sensor accuracy | ±0.5°F/0.3°C |
| Ambient sensor accuracy | ±5°C/9°F |
| Probe materials | Food-grade stainless steel and heat-resistant ceramic |
| Probe dimensions and weight | 130 mm/5.12 in long; 5 mm/0.24 in diameter; 14.6 g/0.52 oz |
| Probe operation per full charge | 24–48 hours, according to MEATER’s support guide |
| Dock operation | 24 hours of continuous Wi-Fi use; 70–80 days idle, according to MEATER’s support guide |
| Charging time | Probe: guide lists 15 minutes minimum and 30 minutes full; it also says 15 minutes provides 50% battery. Dock: two hours, according to MEATER’s support guide. |
MEATER says the app displays temperatures to tenths of a degree. Its support guide gives differing probe-charge descriptions, so follow the current product instructions for charging rather than treating those figures as a guaranteed runtime or charge schedule. The guide also conflicts on the dock cable connector: its introduction says micro-USB, while its specifications and pairing guide refer to USB-C. Check the cable supplied with your unit before choosing a replacement.

How Wi-Fi and probe connections work
The probes communicate with the dock using Bluetooth 5.2 Coded PHY Long Range. The dock has built-in Wi-Fi and requires a 2.4 GHz network; it does not connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi for setup. MEATER describes usable range as equivalent to the home Wi-Fi signal, so placement of the dock and the strength of the home network both matter. The phone does not need to remain beside the probes once the system is set up, but app access depends on the network and account setup.
How to connect MEATER Pro Duo to Wi-Fi
- Prepare the dock: Charge the unit for at least 30 minutes, as directed by MEATER’s pairing guide.
- Prepare your phone: Connect it to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, install the MEATER app, and sign in or create a MEATER Cloud Account. MEATER says an account is required to use the app.
- Add the thermometer: In the MEATER app, use the in-app option to add a device and follow its prompts.
- Pair both probes: When prompted, remove both probes from the dock and keep them nearby.
- Enter Wi-Fi details: Select the 2.4 GHz network and enter its password when the app requests it.
- Complete any update: If the app offers a firmware update, keep both probes near the charger until it finishes.
If setup cannot find the network, check that the selected network is 2.4 GHz, the password is correct, and the dock is within reliable Wi-Fi coverage. The pairing guide’s requirement is explicit: “MEATER Pro Duo requires a 2.4 GHz network to connect to WiFi.”

Compatibility with Pro XL, phones and Traeger
Pro XL probes
MEATER says Pro Duo and Pro XL probes are interchangeable. Pro Duo pairs only with probes numbered 1 and 2, however; do not assume it can use additional numbered probes just because they belong to the Pro XL family.
Phone operating systems
MEATER’s Pro Duo support guide lists iOS 14 or later and Android 8 or later. The UK product listing instead specifies iOS 15 or later and Android 8 or later. Because the official materials conflict on iOS, check the current MEATER app listing for your region and device before buying.

Traeger products
MEATER states that Pro Duo does not pair with the Traeger app or a Traeger grill. It should be treated as a MEATER-app product, not as an integrated Traeger accessory.
Water resistance and safe placement
- Only the probes are listed as waterproof and dishwasher safe; the dock is not.
- Do not use the probes in a microwave or pressure cooker.
- Insert each probe past its safety notch as instructed by MEATER.
- Keep the dock within its listed temperature limits and away from conditions that could expose it to heat or moisture beyond its rating.
Who should consider MEATER Pro Duo?
Its clearest use case is monitoring two foods or cuts at the same time, with Wi-Fi-based remote access when the dock can reach a suitable 2.4 GHz network. It is less suitable if you need Traeger app integration, want to use more than two probes with this dock, or cannot provide 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. MEATER’s published information establishes the specifications and setup requirements above; it does not establish independent performance testing or comparative results against other thermometers.
