Larry and Heidi Canarelli have committed $50 million to Intermountain Health’s planned stand-alone children’s hospital in Las Vegas. Announced October 6, 2026, the gift will support construction and names the project’s inpatient tower the Larry & Heidi Canarelli Inpatient Tower. The hospital remains a planned project: Intermountain expected construction to begin later in October, and the tower is scheduled to open in 2030.
What the Canarelli gift supports
Intermountain Health announced the commitment on October 6, 2026; the Las Vegas Sun reported that it supports the planned hospital and will name its inpatient tower. The $50 million contribution is part of the Nevada Campaign for Kids, rather than a gift identified for a single clinical service. Intermountain’s announcement and the Sun’s report are the sources for the gift and naming details. Intermountain Health announcement archive; Las Vegas Sun, October 6, 2026 report.
The Canarellis said: “Every child deserves access to great care close to home. We hope this helps keep more Nevada families together during some of life’s most difficult moments.” The Sun reproduced the statement from Intermountain’s news release.
Where the hospital is planned and when it could open
The planned site is UNLV’s Harry Reid Research and Technology Park in southwest Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Sun reported that Intermountain expected to break ground later in October 2026; that was an expectation, not confirmation that groundbreaking occurred. The inpatient tower is scheduled to open in 2030. These are current project plans and may change. Las Vegas Sun, October 6, 2026 report.

These are claims reported by Intermountain, not independently verified measures in the Sun’s account. Las Vegas Sun, October 6, 2026 report.
Intermountain also estimates the project could create about 1,300 jobs and generate $800 million in annual economic impact for Clark County. Those are projections attributed to Intermountain by the Sun, not confirmed outcomes. Las Vegas Sun, October 6, 2026 report.
