Choose the fifth tool for your projects
The available evidence does not establish a current Chicago Electric rotary or oscillating tool to complete a brand-specific five-tool list. Harbor Freight’s current catalog does include both categories, so either can be a sensible project-based fifth choice—but confirm the brand and model on a live listing rather than assuming it is Chicago Electric.
- Consider a rotary tool for small, detailed work where the accessory and tool are appropriate to the material and task.
- Consider an oscillating tool when your projects call for controlled, localized cutting or related detail work; choose the attachment for the intended use.
- Choose neither yet if your actual projects do not call for those jobs. Put the money toward the right bits, blades or other accessories for tools you will use.
How to decide which tools belong in your kit

- List the jobs you expect to do. Separate drilling and fastening from rough cutting, grinding, and detail work.
- Match the tool and accessory to the material. A bit, blade or wheel must be suitable for both the material and the operation; a wheel described for metal grinding or cut-off work should not be treated as universally suitable.
- Check the exact item. Confirm the model number, power type, specifications, included battery and charger, and accessory compatibility on its current product page or documentation.
- Buy for expected use, not the size of a list. If a tool is needed for one unusual job, consider whether borrowing or renting is more sensible than buying it.
- Read the tool and accessory instructions before use. Follow the specific manual’s setup, operating and safety requirements.
Safety and warranty checks are model-specific
Harbor Freight’s owner’s manual for the Chicago Electric 2.5 Horsepower 10-inch Industrial Tile/Brick Saw, item 69275, dated 2011, warns: “Failure to do so can result in serious injury.” The instruction is to read the manual before use. That warning belongs to that saw’s manual; use the manual supplied for the particular tool and accessory you own rather than applying one model’s instructions to another.
