Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose a 5-inch random-orbit sander by matching its power source, speed controls, abrasive-disc fit and dust-collection setup to the work—not by assuming every tool in this size class performs alike. Manufacturer specifications help identify practical differences, but they do not establish a tested “best” model.
What the 5-inch designation tells you—and what it does not
A 5-inch random-orbit sander is a handheld power tool designed for a 5-inch abrasive interface. That common size does not guarantee the same backing pad, disc-hole pattern, dust-port or hose connection, speed range, operating mode or package contents. Check the specifications for the exact model and kit before buying.

Compare the power source and speed range
A corded tool avoids battery-runtime decisions but needs access to an outlet. A cordless tool may suit work where cord access is inconvenient, especially if you already own compatible batteries. Confirm whether the listing includes a battery and charger.

| Model | Power and listed configuration | Manufacturer-stated speed or orbit details |
|---|---|---|
| DEWALT DCW211B | 20V cordless; tool-only. Listing includes an 80-grit disc and dust bag; battery and charger are separate. | Speed range not stated in the cited product information. |
| Makita BO5041K | Corded. | Variable 4,000–12,000 OPM; 1/8-inch orbit. |
| DEWALT DWE6423 | Corded. | 8,000–12,000 OPM. |
| Bosch GEX33-5N | Corded. | 4,500–12,000 OPM. |
OPM means orbits per minute. These are each maker’s stated specifications, not controlled measurements of sanding speed, finish quality or material-removal performance. A wider adjustment range can offer more speed choices, but the figures alone do not show which sander will work best for a particular task.
Decide whether you need a second sanding mode
Standard random-orbit action
For ordinary surface sanding, compare the tool’s controls, handling and consumables alongside its speed range. In a random-orbit sander, the pad both spins and moves in an orbital pattern; the named products vary in their speed specifications and features.
Rank #2
- 3-Amp motor spins the pad at 8,000 - 12,000 OPM
- Separate counterweight design reduces vibration for improved comfort
- Improved dust-sealed switch protects against dust ingestion for longer switch life
- Dust port is designed to fit directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors
- Shorter height allows the user to get closer to the workpiece
Dual-mode option: Bosch GET65-5N
The Bosch GET65-5N offers standard random-orbit action and a direct-drive eccentric-orbit turbo mode, plus a removable auxiliary handle. Bosch advertises turbo mode as delivering “3X the removal rate of standard random-orbit action.” That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently established comparison. Consider this model if you specifically want a selectable mode; do not treat the claim as a guaranteed result for every material or job.

Before purchasing abrasives, verify three things for the exact sander: 5-inch diameter, hook-and-loop or other attachment type, and hole layout. Hole alignment matters because the pad’s openings are part of the dust path.
Rank #3
- 【POWERFUL PERFORMANCE】DEKOPRO 2.5A Orbital Sander is assembled with a powerful DEKO motor that can reach speeds of up to 14,000 RPM, allowing it to provide smooth performance in a variety of sanding applications.
- 【SUPERIOR ADAPTABILITY】Electric orbital sander has 6 variable speeds and 16pcs sanding discs range from 60/80/120/240/400/1000 for coarse, medium and fine sanding, suitable for sanding or polishing wood and metal.
- 【HIGHLY EFFICIENT】Hook-and-loop design remains fast change function of sandpapers. And improved dust collection system with a detachable dust bag increases work efficiency by reducing clean-up time.
- 【EASY CONTROL & LOW VIBRATION】Orbital sander features an ergonomic rubber grip for maximum comfort and control.Meanwhile the balanced counterweight design reduces fatigue caused by vibration on the hands, thus prolonging the working time.
- 【LONG LIFESPAN】Reliable and sturdy ventilation design effectively dissipates heat and increases the orbital sander's overload capacity. Therefore, the unique structural design makes the orbital sander's service life longer than similar hand sander.
- Makita BO5041K: specifies a 5-inch, eight-hole hook-and-loop disc.
- Bosch GEX33-5N: uses a multi-hole design that Bosch describes as compatible with a wide variety of disc brands.
Those details do not establish that a disc pattern fits every 5-inch sander. Check the tool manual and the abrasive or adapter specifications, particularly if connecting a vacuum or extractor.
Compare dust collection as a model-specific feature
The listed systems differ, and the available manufacturer information does not provide a comparable cross-model dust-capture test. A dust bag or extractor connection is a feature—not proof that sanding dust is fully captured or safe to breathe.
Rank #4
- 3.0 amp motor that spins the pad at 12,000 OPM
- Shorter height allows the user to get closer to work piece
- Separate counterweight design reduces vibration for improved comfort
- Rubber over-mold in all of the critical areas of the sander
- Improved dust-sealed switch to protect against dust ingestion for longer switch life
- DEWALT DCW211B: the listing includes a dust bag and describes extractor compatibility.
- Makita BO5041K: Makita describes through-pad dust collection.
- DEWALT DWE6423: lists a dust bag and extractor connection.
- Bosch GEX33-5N: lists a microfilter canister and specifies hose or adapter compatibility.
For a vacuum or extractor, verify the hose or adapter fit and follow the sander and extraction-system instructions. Do not assume that a bag, canister or compatible extractor alone guarantees a particular level of dust control.

Check the exact package before ordering
A model code can distinguish a bare tool from a kit, and included items can vary. The DEWALT DCW211B listing, for example, specifies a tool-only configuration that includes an 80-grit disc and dust bag, while battery and charger are sold separately. Makita’s BO5031K listing includes a dust bag and tool case. Verify the package contents on the exact product listing rather than relying on a family name or an older listing.
