The 2026 manufacturer information available identifies five current product lines worth comparing, but it does not establish hands-on tests or a ranking. Use the specifications below as a starting point, then match an exact model to your property, terrain and workload.
Five current zero-turn mower lines to compare
This is a comparison of manufacturer-published specifications, not an independent test ranking. Specifications and warranty terms can differ between configurations within a product line; confirm the exact model, model year, manual and local dealer availability before buying.

Confirm the terms for the exact model. |
What cutting width is right for your property?
The deck width is the approximate cutting path per pass. A wider deck can reduce the number of passes across open ground, while a narrower mower may be easier to maneuver between trees, through gates and into storage. Bobcat’s manufacturer-authored guide to zero-turn mower sizes treats deck width as a primary selection factor; its acreage suggestions are guidance, not a guarantee of mowing time or suitability for every property.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Measure the tightest access point. Check gates, paths, trailer ramps and storage openings, and compare those dimensions with the mower’s full width—not only its deck width.
- Map obstacles and turns. Trees, planting beds, posts and narrow strips can make a smaller deck more practical even when the overall lawn is large.
- Separate open acreage from intricate area. If both matter, compare maneuverability and the time needed for trimming as well as advertised coverage.
- Check attachments for the exact deck. Verify bagging or mulching compatibility by model and deck. Exmark identifies optional bagging and mulching accessories for Quest, but that does not establish fit for every Quest configuration or another brand.
How to choose between residential and commercial-duty machines
A similar deck width does not mean two mowers are built for the same workload. Consider how often the machine will run, who will operate it, how quickly downtime must be resolved and whether local service and parts are available. Compare the exact transmission, frame and deck construction, maintenance access and warranty limits—not engine horsepower alone.

For a home or occasional property-maintenance use
Start with access, storage, deck size and the manufacturer’s intended-use category. A residential model may fit occasional mowing, but check the warranty before using it for paid work; residential and commercial coverage can differ. Confirm whether the listed deck is stamped, fabricated or reinforced and what that means for the specific configuration rather than assuming a product-family name guarantees identical construction.
For frequent or paid mowing
Look closely at service support, transmission and frame class, parts availability, warranty hour caps and the cost of downtime. Toro’s 2026 Titan brochure, for example, separates residential coverage from commercial terms and lists different commercial hour limits by configuration. Honda’s ProZision page describes its warranty as commercial and caps it by time or hours, whichever comes first. Do not transfer a warranty term from one model in a line to another.

Gas or battery: match the power source to the work pattern
Gas models
Gas machines require fuel and engine maintenance. Before choosing one, check the model’s manual and service schedule, as well as how readily you can obtain parts and dealer service. Engine power by itself does not establish cutting performance or suitability for your terrain.

Battery machines require a workable charging setup and enough time between mowing sessions to recharge. Manufacturer claims about acreage per charge are not universal runtime guarantees: conditions affect the area covered. Honda’s stated claim of up to 15 acres per charge applies to its ProZision ZTR information and should not be treated as an independently verified result or transferred to another battery mower. For Exmark’s Quest V-Series, the cited page gives battery count and capacity to add batteries, but does not establish an acreage-per-charge figure.

Can a zero-turn mower handle your hills?
There is no single safe slope limit for every zero-turn mower. Use the exact operator manual for the machine, and assess traction, surface condition, slope direction, drop-offs and obstacles. A manufacturer’s advertised slope capability is not a substitute for the manual or a site-specific safety assessment.
Toro’s Zero-Turn Mower Safety Tips says, “Stay off hills or surfaces with a slope greater than 15 degrees.” That is Toro’s guidance, not a universal limit for all brands or models. Toro also advises avoiding wet slopes and taking care near sudden drop-offs and unstable ground. For Toro machines equipped with ROPS, its guidance says to keep the rollbar raised and locked and use the seat belt; follow the exact machine manual.
A 2024 U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission technical report describes tests designed to induce rollover and notes that manuals for four residential mowers in an earlier study warned against operation above manufacturer limits ranging from 12 to 15 degrees. The report’s test maneuvers and sample do not establish safe operating limits for every mower. If the ground is wet, unstable, sharply sloped or close to a drop-off, use another mowing method when the manual or terrain makes riding unsafe.

Check fit, service and ownership details before buying
- Confirm the exact configuration. Match the model number, deck size, engine or battery setup and model year to the manufacturer’s current specifications and manual.
- Inspect the whole route. Measure access gates, storage, trailer capacity and loading conditions; deck width alone does not tell you whether the mower will fit.
- Ask a local dealer about service. Confirm who handles warranty work, how parts are sourced and whether routine maintenance can be completed locally.
- Read warranty exclusions and limits. Check residential versus commercial eligibility, hour caps, the start date and any separate coverage for frame or deck components.
- Verify accessory compatibility. Baggers, mulching kits and other attachments must match the exact model and deck configuration.
- Review the operator manual before using slopes. Follow its terrain, ROPS, seat-belt and operating instructions rather than relying on a generalized slope number.
