The SOLSKYDD range uses round, patterned fronts in portable, shelf-friendly, and wall-mounted sizes, while the KULGLASS combines a Bluetooth speaker with a swirl-shaped table lamp.
They are design-led Bluetooth products—not new Sonos speakers or replacements for the IKEA/Sonos SYMFONISK system. That distinction matters more than the unusual colors: these speakers are easy to use and visually distinctive, but they do not offer the same networked-audio platform as SYMFONISK.

IKEA is treating speakers as part of the room
IKEA announced the SOLSKYDD and KULGLASS range on November 25, 2025, as part of a collaboration with designer and colorist Tekla Evelina Severin, also known as Teklan. Global sales began in December 2025, although launch timing varies by market. IKEA Canada, for example, stated that availability would begin in January 2026. Current stock and colors also vary by country and store.

The design idea is straightforward: electronics are often hidden because they are treated as purely functional objects. These products take the opposite approach. Their color, pattern, and shape are intended to contribute to a room’s character, much like furniture, lighting, or wall decor. IKEA describes the audio as “high-quality sound,” but that is manufacturer positioning rather than an independent measurement or listening-test conclusion.
#1 Best Overall

- Outdoor-Ready and Portable: The lightweight design and included strap make this mini speaker portable enough to carry anywhere, whether you're showering, camping, hiking, or biking.
- Supports Wireless Stereo Pairing: Enable True Wireless Stereo (TWS) pairing to wirelessly connect two portable speakers for richer, more immersive sound with stereo separation. To enable TWS pairing, connect one Bluetooth speaker to your smartphone, then press and hold the Bluetooth button on both speakers for 2 seconds.
- Surprisingly Punchy Sound: Despite its compact size, this portable speaker delivers powerful and punchy sound with 5W output, ensuring clear and dynamic audio performance.
The result is most appealing if you want a speaker that can remain visible on a shelf, console, wall, bedside table, or reading corner. It is less compelling if your priority is a discreet box, rugged outdoor use, or advanced whole-home audio.
The SOLSKYDD family: three sizes, three roles
SOLSKYDD comes in three round formats:
- 8-inch portable speaker: the smallest model, designed to sit on its base or hang.
- 11-inch speaker: a medium-size option for a shelf, console, or wall display.
- 18-inch speaker: the largest model, intended primarily for wall mounting and prominent placement near a screen or other wall display.
The smaller models are available in bold limited-edition colorways as well as more neutral white or beige versions. The 18-inch model makes the strongest visual statement, but its size also means that placement and installation need planning. Suitable wall space, secure fixing, cable routing, and the surrounding furniture all matter.
SOLSKYDD 8-inch portable
The smallest SOLSKYDD is the one to choose if portability matters. Secondary reporting describes it as having an integrated rechargeable battery rated for up to 25 hours, alongside a 2.5-inch driver. That is a reported maximum, not a guaranteed runtime: volume, Bluetooth use, and other conditions affect battery life.
It makes the most sense in a bedroom, kitchen, home office, or small patio-adjacent setting where you want to move music occasionally. It is not presented as a rugged, weatherproof travel speaker, so it should not be treated as a substitute for one.
SOLSKYDD 11-inch
The 11-inch model is the practical middle ground. It is large enough to read as a decorative object rather than a conventional portable speaker, while remaining easier to place than the 18-inch version. It can stand or hang and is best suited to a shelf, sideboard, console, or feature wall.

- Outdoor-Proof Speaker: Portable design with IPX7 waterproof protection to safeguard against splashes, waves, and water vapor. Get incredible sounds at home, on camping trips, or for outdoor adventures.
- 24H Non-Stop Music: With Anker's world-renowned power management technology and a 5,200mAh Li-ion battery, the soundcore 2 speaker delivers a full day of great sound.
- Powerful Sound: The speaker features 12W power with enhanced bass from dual neodymium drivers. An advanced digital signal processor ensures pounding bass and zero distortion at any volume.
- Intense Bass: Our exclusive BassUp technology and a patented spiral bass port boost low-end frequencies to make the beats hit even harder. The soundcore 2 speaker delivers vibrant audio for home theater nights, beach parties, and sitting around a campfire.
- Grab, Go, Listen: A classic design refined with simple controls and effortless portability. Easy to use and take anywhere, and supports wireless stereo pairing.
At the current U.S. catalog price, it is also the least expensive non-portable SOLSKYDD. For buyers who care equally about visual presence and price, this is arguably the most balanced format—although there are no independent tests here to establish that it delivers the best sound.
SOLSKYDD 18-inch
The 18-inch version is intended to become part of a wall composition. It can work beside a television, above a console, or on a large open wall where a conventional speaker would look out of place. Its main advantage is visual scale, not confirmed acoustic superiority.
This is the least suitable choice for renters, small rooms, or anyone who does not want to plan a permanent-looking installation. Check the product’s mounting requirements and your wall construction before buying; a large speaker should not be assumed to be suitable for every wall or fixing arrangement.
KULGLASS combines a lamp and a speaker
KULGLASS is a table-lamp-shaped Bluetooth speaker. The speaker hardware is integrated into the base, while the lighting element sits beneath a distinctive swirl-shaped shade inspired by soft-serve ice cream. U.S. listings include dark green and red-brown/pink versions.
Its best use is as a stationary centerpiece in a living room, bedroom, reading corner, or side table. It can provide ambient light and music from one visible object, but that also limits its portability. It is a lamp as well as a speaker, so check the individual product page for bulb requirements and whether the necessary bulb or other accessories are included.

It is also suitable as white elephant gifts for adult, stocking stuffers for men and women, Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, mothers day gifts, fathers day gifts,Valentine's Day,mens gifts, and various anniversary gifts for him.
KULGLASS costs more than every SOLSKYDD format in the current U.S. catalog. The premium is buying a combined lighting-and-audio object with a much stronger decorative presence—not a proven upgrade in sound quality.

What the speakers can actually do
All of these products are built around Bluetooth. They can connect to phones, laptops, and other Bluetooth sources, which keeps setup simple. The trade-off is that the source device generally supplies the audio. They are not automatically independent network speakers that stream from the internet on their own.
Spotify Tap
The speakers support Spotify Tap. With a button press, Spotify Tap can resume recently played Spotify audio or begin a suggested listening session. It is a convenience feature for Spotify users, not a replacement for a complete streaming platform or a guarantee that every music service will work in the same way.
Multi-speaker mode
IKEA also says compatible IKEA Bluetooth speakers can connect in a multi-speaker mode. That should not be confused with Sonos-style Wi-Fi multiroom audio. The available information does not establish that every model supports the same stereo-pairing or synchronized-playback functions, so check the relevant product documentation before buying several units for a particular arrangement.
In practical terms, expect straightforward Bluetooth listening and some IKEA-speaker coordination—not the mature app-based room management, network independence, and broad ecosystem associated with a dedicated Wi-Fi platform.

The important SYMFONISK warning
KULGLASS is explicitly not compatible with the previous IKEA/Sonos SYMFONISK speaker-lamp line. The new range should therefore not be treated as a successor that can simply join an existing SYMFONISK installation.
SYMFONISK products use Sonos-based Wi-Fi audio. Depending on the model and ecosystem, that is the relevant route for readers who want Sonos app integration, AirPlay, Chromecast, or more developed whole-home audio features. The new SOLSKYDD and KULGLASS products are Bluetooth speakers instead.
If you already own SYMFONISK equipment, switching to these products may mean giving up the networked features that made your existing system useful. If you mainly want easy music from a phone and a speaker that looks like decor, Bluetooth may be exactly the simpler option.

IKEA’s displayed U.S. user-review averages were approximately 4.4/5 for the 8-inch SOLSKYDD, 4.5/5 for the 11-inch, 3.5/5 for the 18-inch, and 4.1/5 for KULGLASS at the time reviewed. Those figures are changing user-review averages, not controlled sound tests.
Which model should you buy?
- Choose the 8-inch SOLSKYDD if you want the lowest-cost, portable design option. The reported battery claim makes it the only obvious choice for moving music between rooms.
- Choose the 11-inch SOLSKYDD if you want the best balance of size, price, and decorative impact, without committing to the footprint of the largest model.
- Choose the 18-inch SOLSKYDD if the speaker is intended to function as wall decor in a large living room or media area. Plan the mounting location first.
- Choose KULGLASS if the lamp is as important to you as the music and it will remain in one location.
- Choose neither if you need Sonos-style Wi-Fi multiroom, AirPlay, Chromecast, voice-assistant integration, advanced room management, rugged outdoor construction, or independently verified sound measurements.
For cheaper conventional IKEA Bluetooth audio, the catalog also includes products such as KALLSUP and VAPPEBY. The BLOMPRAKT speaker lamp is a lower-priced alternative to KULGLASS. Readers already committed to Sonos-style Wi-Fi audio should look at SYMFONISK instead, while remembering that it belongs to a different ecosystem and comes at a different price.
The verdict
IKEA’s new colorful speakers are genuinely useful Bluetooth products that happen to look like decor—but their strongest advantage is design, not proven audio performance. SOLSKYDD gives buyers several placement options, including one portable model, while KULGLASS turns a lamp into a visible music source.
