Xiaomi unveiled the Mijia Thermostatic Kettle 2 Pro in China in November 2022, with a reported launch price of 199 yuan. Its headline features included 1 °C temperature adjustment, Xiaomi Home app control, a 1.7-liter capacity, 1,800 W heating and up to 24 hours of keep-warm operation. International listings generally use the name Xiaomi Smart Kettle 2 Pro.
The important qualification is that 1 °C describes the adjustment increments, not guaranteed real-world accuracy. Xiaomi’s own support documentation states a temperature tolerance of up to ±2 °C.

What was unveiled?
The product originally appeared as the Xiaomi Mijia Thermostatic Kettle 2 Pro in China. Later regional product pages use the name Xiaomi Smart Kettle 2 Pro, so the two names do not necessarily indicate different kettles.
Contemporary launch coverage reported a China price of 199 yuan in November 2022. That is a historical launch price, not a current international retail price or a confirmed US price. The product is commonly associated with model MJJYSH01YM in China and import listings, while regional Xiaomi pages identify variants such as MJJYSH01-A in the UK and MJJYSH01-B in Taiwan. Contemporary launch coverage provides the original timing and reported price.

What makes it a smart kettle?
The kettle combines a physical rotary control and LED display with Xiaomi Home app functions. The dial can select temperatures in 1 °C increments, while the app can show the kettle’s status, start heating or boiling, set heating and keep-warm temperatures, adjust the duration and create custom modes.
Wireless setup uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with IEEE 802.11b/g/n. Xiaomi’s documented setup path is to open the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, tap the + icon in the upper-right corner, select or search for the kettle, and follow the pairing instructions. Account region and product-market settings can affect whether an imported kettle appears in the app.
The app supports keep-warm periods from 1 to 24 hours. The default keep-warm duration is 12 hours. This is not the same as delayed boiling: Xiaomi says the kettle does not support reservation heating for safety reasons. You cannot rely on it to begin boiling unattended at a scheduled time the next morning.

How the heating modes work
The kettle has two main operating approaches:
- Direct heating: Select a temperature and use the keep-warm function to heat water to that setting and maintain it.
- Boil, cool and hold: Select the desired keep-warm temperature and press Boil. In tap-water mode, the kettle boils the water, cools it automatically and then maintains the selected temperature.
Xiaomi also describes a purified-water mode, which heats water directly to the chosen temperature and keeps it warm. “Purified” here is an operating mode, not evidence that the appliance filters water or provides certified water treatment. Tap-water mode is a boil-and-reheat cycle, not a substitute for a certified water filter.
Using the physical control, the keep-warm range is 40–90 °C in 1 °C increments. After boiling, the display’s highest reading is 99 °C even though the water has reached its boiling point.
1 °C control is not the same as 1 °C accuracy
This distinction matters. Resolution is the size of the adjustment step: the kettle lets you choose temperatures one degree apart. Accuracy or tolerance describes how close the actual water temperature is to the displayed or selected value.

Xiaomi’s official support FAQ states a tolerance of ±2 °C. Therefore, “1 °C temperature control” is fair when it means 1 °C increments, but “accurate to 1 °C” would overstate what Xiaomi’s documentation establishes. The display is a real-time reading supplied by the appliance; the available documentation does not establish independent laboratory testing.

Design, operation and safety
The kettle uses double-wall construction intended to reduce the outer surface temperature. Xiaomi also describes an internal noise-reducing coating and a damped, two-stage lid mechanism intended to reduce sudden steam release. These are manufacturer design claims rather than independently verified performance guarantees.

To operate it physically:
- Fill the kettle between the minimum and maximum marks.
- Close the lid and place the kettle on its supplied base.
- Press Boil to boil the water.
- For direct temperature heating, turn the knob to the desired setting and press Keep Warm.
- For boil-then-hold operation, select the keep-warm temperature and press Boil.
- Press the relevant button again to cancel boiling or keep-warm operation.
The appliance must remain connected to power while it is keeping water warm. Xiaomi says it uses brief, low-power heating cycles rather than repeatedly boiling the water. The power bases are not interchangeable with those from other Xiaomi kettles.

Regional versions are not electrically identical. Xiaomi’s UK specification lists a 220–240 V, 1,800 W model. The Taiwan specification lists a 110 V, 1,000 W version, while Xiaomi Colombia lists a 120 V, 1,800 W variant. Check the exact label, model suffix and supplied base before buying.
For readers in the United States, a 220–240 V import should not be connected directly to a 120 V household outlet. A plug adapter changes the plug shape but does not convert voltage. A transformer capable of handling a high-wattage kettle can be inconvenient and may create additional safety and warranty concerns. The safer choice is a version explicitly rated for the local electrical supply.

Cleaning and permitted contents
White deposits are usually limescale from hard water, not automatically rust. Xiaomi recommends cleaning such deposits with white vinegar. SUS304 stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, but it can still develop mineral deposits or staining. Follow the manual’s cleaning directions and avoid abrasive materials that may damage the surfaces.
This is a water kettle, not a cooking vessel. Xiaomi warns against heating milk, tea, noodles, eggs, soy milk or other substances in it. Long keep-warm periods may also affect water taste and freshness, even though the appliance supports up to 24 hours of operation.

The kettle remains interesting for Xiaomi Home users who want a large capacity, fine-grained temperature selection and programmable keep-warm routines. Physical controls mean it can still be used without opening the app, while custom modes may be useful for repeatable tea or coffee routines.
It is a weaker choice for anyone who wants a basic appliance with no account or Wi-Fi setup, laboratory-grade temperature accuracy, a gooseneck spout or scheduled unattended boiling. It is also a poor purchase if the only available listing is an incompatible import, has no local warranty or cannot be paired with the buyer’s Xiaomi Home region.
Before ordering, verify:
- Voltage, frequency, wattage and model suffix.
- That the correct power base is included.
- Whether the kettle can be added in the intended Xiaomi Home app region.
- Local warranty, returns and replacement-base availability.
- That the seller’s price is not being presented as the 199-yuan China launch price from 2022.
Verdict
The Xiaomi Mijia Thermostatic Kettle 2 Pro—now commonly listed internationally as the Xiaomi Smart Kettle 2 Pro—offers a useful combination of a 1.7-liter kettle, app control and one-degree temperature adjustments. But it is not a universally compatible global product, and Xiaomi’s ±2 °C tolerance means the headline should not be read as a guarantee of ±1 °C real-world accuracy. For a compatible local version, it is a capable temperature-control kettle; for a grey-market import, voltage and app support matter more than the smart features.
