Short answer: Xiaomi’s Mijia Smart IH Rice Cooker P1 is a China-market rice cooker that combines induction heating, controlled low-pressure cooking, programmable temperature stages, app features, and a titanium-based, fluorine-free inner pot. It is technically more advanced than a basic rice cooker, but “AI” and “perfect grain” are largely marketing shorthand rather than independently proven results.
The original headline most closely describes the 3L P1 launched in China in 2025. Xiaomi also lists a later 4L version reported in 2026. Those models should not be treated as identical: capacity, launch price, fast-cooking claims, pot thickness, and warranty details differ.

What the Xiaomi P1 actually does
The P1’s cooking system combines four technologies:
- Induction heating: electromagnetic energy heats the compatible inner pot directly, allowing faster temperature changes and more even heating than a basic bottom heating plate.
- Controlled pressure: Xiaomi describes cooking at approximately 1.2 times atmospheric pressure and around 105°C. The available specifications do not clearly establish whether “1.2×” refers to absolute or gauge pressure, so it should not be converted into a more precise figure.
- Algorithmic cooking: a reported 10-stage cooking curve adjusts heat, timing, and pressure during the cycle.
- Connected controls: the Mijia app adds scheduling, texture settings, recipes, and—within Xiaomi’s Chinese ecosystem—XiaoAI voice control.
In practical terms, the cooker heats the pot, raises pressure modestly, changes its temperature curve during cooking, and then finishes or holds the rice according to the selected program. Xiaomi says this helps water penetrate the grains more evenly and can produce softer, plumper, or chewier rice.

Those are plausible goals, not universal guarantees. Rice variety, freshness, washing, water ratio, batch size, resting time, and personal texture preference still matter.
Pressure may improve consistency—but not every texture
Increasing pressure raises water’s boiling point. That can help heat and moisture move into rice grains, potentially reducing hard centers or unevenly cooked batches. The P1’s pressure system is intended to work alongside IH heating rather than replace it.
However, pressure is not automatically better. Someone who prefers dry, separate jasmine or basmati grains may prefer a conventional program, less water, or a non-pressure cooker. A pressure cycle may be more appealing to people who like softer, chewier, or more elastic rice.

Xiaomi has also promoted claims about increased natural sweetness. One report attributes a claim of up to 48% more natural sweetness to the company, but the available material does not disclose a testing method. “AI” is better understood as smart cooking automation
The P1’s “AI” label should be interpreted cautiously. The evidence supports sensors, programmed cooking stages, cloud recipes, texture adjustment, and a database of cooking plans. It does not establish a machine-learning system comparable to a conversational AI model.
Xiaomi’s related Chinese IH rice-cooker material refers to more than 3,000 cooking plans, while P1 coverage describes more than 100 cloud recipes and a 10-stage cooking curve. These features may make the cooker more adaptable than a simple timer, but the available information does not explain exactly:

- which sensors measure rice, water, temperature, or pressure;
- whether rice is identified automatically or selected by the user;
- whether barcode matching works outside China;
- whether all app features require a Chinese mainland server;
- whether XiaoAI supports English; or
- which functions remain available without an internet connection.
For most buyers, the meaningful benefit is automated control—not artificial intelligence in the strict technical sense.

What “titanium pot” means
The P1 should be described as having a titanium-based, fluorine-free inner pot, not automatically as a solid titanium vessel. Reported construction includes food-grade stainless steel, titanium particles, a protective crystal layer, and an aluminum heat-conduction layer. The 4L coverage reports a 2.5mm pot, but that thickness should not automatically be applied to the 3L model. 4L P1 reporting.
“Fluorine-free” also does not automatically mean “PFAS-free,” and neither term proves that every food-contact component is free of fluoropolymers. Xiaomi’s available descriptions do not establish that the P1 is made from solid titanium or provide independent long-term wear testing.

A fluorine-free surface still needs care. Avoid metal utensils, steel wool, abrasive cleaners, and anything else that could scratch the cooking surface. The pot may eventually need replacement, so availability of a compatible spare pot is an important import question.

The reported prices are launch or pre-sale figures, not verified current prices. Bowl counts also need caution: the 4L model has been described as making up to 16 bowls, but Chinese rice-bowl servings are not necessarily equivalent to standard U.S. servings. Nominal pot volume is not the same as maximum uncooked-rice capacity.

The biggest problem is not the cooking technology—it is importing one
The available evidence points to China-market sales through Xiaomi China and Chinese marketplaces, not a confirmed official U.S. launch. Before importing, check all of the following:
- Voltage: confirm the appliance’s nameplate rating. A plug adapter does not convert voltage.
- Plug and electrical certification: the Chinese plug and certification may differ from local requirements.
- App region: Mijia recipes, notifications, barcode databases, and voice functions may be tied to the Chinese mainland ecosystem.
- Language: do not assume the app, manual, display, or XiaoAI supports English.
- Warranty: an overseas seller’s warranty is not equivalent to Xiaomi service in your country.
- Replacement parts: confirm that the inner pot, gasket, pressure components, and valves can be purchased separately.
- True landed cost: add shipping, taxes, import fees, voltage conversion, and the risk of difficult returns.
A related Mijia variable-pressure IH rice cooker listed by iF Design may share design ideas with the P1 family, but the available evidence does not prove that it is the same retail model. Do not combine its specifications with the P1. iF Design listing.
Safety and cleaning
The P1 is a pressure appliance, so it should be treated differently from a simple warming cooker. Do not force the lid open, block or neglect the pressure vent, immerse the appliance body, or place it tight against a wall or beneath an obstructed cabinet. Xiaomi’s general pressure-cooker guidance also warns about foods that can clog vents; confirm the exact restrictions in the P1 manual before cooking thick, foamy, or expanding ingredients. After pressure cooking, the lid, gasket, valve, and steam path need regular cleaning. The inner pot should be washed without abrasive tools. The supplied research does not establish the P1’s exact six safety mechanisms, altitude limits, pressure-release time, or whether every internal component is removable, so those details should be confirmed in the model-specific manual.
Who should consider it?
- Rice enthusiasts: potentially worthwhile if you specifically want pressure-IH cooking and are comfortable adjusting water and texture settings.
- Families: the 4L version is the more logical choice, but check its real uncooked-rice limit rather than relying on the “16 bowls” claim.
- Chinese Mijia users: the app and voice features are more compelling if your existing ecosystem is already China-based.
- Coating-conscious buyers: the titanium-based, fluorine-free pot may be attractive, but it is not proven to be solid titanium or indestructible.
- U.S. and other international buyers: import only after verifying voltage, language, app access, warranty, and replacement parts.
