Xiaomi’s Mijia Graphene Skirting Board Heater 2 folds through 180 degrees—but launched in China in 2024

Xiaomi launched the Mijia Graphene Skirting Board Heater 2 Foldable Version in China on September 3, 2024—not as a new 2026 global product. Model TJXDNQ09ZM is a 2,200W portable electric baseboard-style heater that folds or rotates through 0–180 degrees and measures approximately 75cm when folded. Its launch price was 899 yuan, reduced to 799 yuan for the first sale.

The design and controls are interesting, but buyers outside China should treat it as a China-market appliance. Plug and electrical requirements, Mijia account-region restrictions, certification, warranty and repair support all need to be checked before importing.

A folding electric heater for awkward room layouts

The defining feature is the articulated body. The heater can be adjusted from 0 to 180 degrees, allowing it to operate straight, partially folded or at an angle. Xiaomi’s stated benefit is easier positioning in different room layouts, while the approximately 75cm folded length makes seasonal storage more convenient.

Folding changes the heater’s physical arrangement and the direction in which heat is dispersed. It does not turn the appliance into a handheld heater, and a 180-degree configuration does not automatically heat a room or home more efficiently. Results will depend on room size, insulation, ceiling height, outdoor temperature, placement and the selected power level.

The product is listed by Xiaomi’s Chinese shop as the Mijia Graphene Skirting Board Heater 2 Foldable Version, or 米家石墨烯踢脚线电暖器 2 折叠版. The model number to verify when shopping is TJXDNQ09ZM.

2,200W heating hardware and a 15-minute claim

The heater has a reported maximum output of 2,200W, an approximately 1.29-metre heating element and 152 heat-dissipation fins. Launch coverage describes the element as using graphene-assisted rapid-heating technology and says the heater can significantly raise indoor temperature within 15 minutes.

That 15-minute statement should be read as a product or launch claim, not as an independently verified result. The available reporting does not establish the room dimensions, starting temperature, insulation, outdoor conditions, measurement position or final temperature used to produce it.

At maximum output, a 2,200W resistive heater uses approximately 2.2kWh per hour while operating continuously. “Graphene” is not proof of lower running costs: electric resistance heaters convert their electrical input into heat, while thermostatic modulation and scheduling can reduce unnecessary operation without changing that basic energy relationship.

HyperOS Connect, Mijia and sleep scheduling

The heater is reported to support HyperOS Connect through Xiaomi’s China-oriented Mijia smart-home ecosystem. Expected functions include remote control, temperature adjustment, scheduling and Xiao Ai voice control. The reported temperature range is 16–28°C, with a 0–12-hour timer.

Its upgraded sleep mode is more advanced than a simple countdown. Users can reportedly divide the night into four time-and-temperature periods, allowing the target temperature to change while they sleep. Display brightness can also be adjusted or reduced.

Scheduling may improve comfort and can reduce wasted heating, but it does not guarantee lower energy use. Savings depend on the temperatures selected and how quickly the room loses heat.

HyperOS Connect is a smart-device integration label, not evidence that the heater offers the same compatibility as a global Xiaomi appliance. Google Assistant or Alexa support has not been established for this specific folding model. Do not confuse it with the separate global Xiaomi Smart Graphene Heater, which is a different, fan-style 2,000W product.

Safety features and the IPX4 limitation

Launch reporting identifies child-lock, overheating protection, flame-retardant materials and tip-over protection. The heater is also reported as IPX4 splash-resistant.

IPX4 generally means protection against splashing water; it does not mean waterproof, submersible or safe under a shower. A retailer warning says not to place the heater directly under a showerhead or near a bathtub. Follow the product manual and local electrical code, and never place it where it could fall into water or receive a direct jet.

For construction, renovation and bathroom projects, the important distinction is that an IP rating does not override required clearance zones, outlet rules or local inspection requirements. Verify the actual Chinese manual and certification markings for the installation location before specifying the appliance.

Price and availability outside China

The confirmed launch pricing was 899 yuan, with a first-sale price of 799 yuan. These are September 2024 China launch prices, not a current US retail price. Xiaomi’s Chinese shop and JD-related listings establish Chinese-market availability, but the supplied evidence does not establish an official US launch, US price or US warranty.

A Hong Kong retailer listing identifies parallel goods and warns that the account region may need to be changed to mainland China for Mijia connectivity. That is an importer warning rather than proof that region switching will work for every buyer or remain officially supported.

What US importers should check first

  1. Electrical specification: Confirm the voltage, frequency, plug and current requirements from the manual or seller. A 2,200W appliance is a substantial load and may not be suitable for a circuit designed for a different electrical system.
  2. Outlet and circuit capacity: Follow the manual and local code. Do not assume a casual plug adapter, power strip or extension cord is appropriate for a high-power heater.
  3. App region: Confirm that the exact model, TJXDNQ09ZM, appears in the relevant Mijia/Xiaomi Home catalogue. Firmware, server region and account settings may affect pairing and remote control.
  4. Voice control: Xiao Ai is primarily relevant to Xiaomi’s China ecosystem. Do not assume Google Home or Alexa compatibility.
  5. Warranty and returns: Distinguish Chinese launch availability from official local distribution. Imported units may lack local repair, replacement parts, certification support and warranty service.
  6. Safety documentation: Obtain the manual and verify placement restrictions before using the heater near a wet area or in a building project.

If pairing fails, first confirm the model number, check the Mijia account and server region, use the Chinese product name or manual, and verify router compatibility. Region switching can also affect access to other Xiaomi devices, so it should not be presented as a guaranteed permanent fix.

Who is it for?

The heater is most compelling for buyers in China, or experienced importers already committed to Xiaomi’s mainland-China smart-home ecosystem. Its foldable body may help in compact rooms, temporary heating layouts and homes where storage space matters. The segmented sleep schedule is more useful than a basic mechanical timer for users who want automated temperature changes overnight.

It is a weaker choice for anyone who needs a local warranty, straightforward US installation, confirmed US certification, Google Home integration or independently tested energy performance. It is also a portable room-heating appliance, not a demonstrated substitute for central heating or a whole-home system.

Bottom line

The Mijia Graphene Skirting Board Heater 2 Foldable Version is a distinctive 2,200W China-market heater with a useful 0–180-degree folding design, app scheduling and four-stage sleep control. Its headline heating performance remains a manufacturer claim, and graphene does not by itself promise lower electricity use.

For non-Chinese buyers, the main question is not whether the specification sheet is interesting. It is whether the electrical system, app region, safety documentation, warranty and support are acceptable. As of the supplied evidence, this is better understood as a niche China-market import than as an officially available US Xiaomi product.
