Xiaomi launched the Mijia Electric Shaver with Reciprocating Double Blades in China in June 2024 for 189 yuan. The same product is listed internationally as the Xiaomi Portable Dual Blade Electric Shaver, model MSW201. Its key features include a slim 107-gram body, USB-C charging, a floating reciprocating head, IPX7 water resistance and a rated battery life of up to 60 minutes.
However, a live global product page should not be mistaken for a universal worldwide retail launch. Local price, stock, warranty coverage and replacement-head availability vary by region.

What exactly did Xiaomi launch?
The product has two closely related names:
- China: MIJIA Electric Shaver with Reciprocating Double Blades.
- Global Xiaomi site: Xiaomi Portable Dual Blade Electric Shaver.
- Model: MSW201.
The China launch was reported in June 2024, with a launch price of 189 yuan and JD.com identified as a sales channel. That is a historical China launch price, not a confirmed current US or global retail price. The MSW201 uses two reciprocating cutting elements in one floating head:

- A thin precision foil intended to cut closer to the skin.
Xiaomi lists approximately 0.3 mm spacing for the long-hair blade and a precision foil approximately 55 microns thick. The foil uses an electroformed polygonal structure, and Xiaomi says the system is designed for hairs roughly 3–5 mm long.
“Floating” refers to the head’s ability to move or flex over facial contours. That can help the cutting elements maintain contact across uneven areas, but it does not independently prove that the shaver will be more comfortable, closer or less irritating than a rotary or full-size foil model. The measurements above are manufacturer specifications, not independent shaving-test results.
A customized motor is rated at more than 6,500 rpm. Motor speed alone does not determine shaving quality: foil geometry, blade sharpness, beard density, pressure and technique also matter.
What IPX7 means in practice
The shaver carries an IPX7 rating. The “7” indicates protection against temporary immersion in approximately one metre of water for up to 30 minutes under the relevant test conditions. The “X” means that a dust-ingress rating was not specified in the cited classification.
Xiaomi describes the shaver as suitable for wet and dry use and says it can be rinsed under running water. In practical terms, IPX7 supports rinsing and occasional temporary immersion; it is not unlimited underwater protection, pool certification or permission to use the shaver while charging.

Do not treat the charging base, cable or other charging accessories as waterproof. Dry the shaver and charging contacts before connecting it to power. Xiaomi’s IPX7 explanation provides the relevant water-resistance guidance.
Size and portability
The official specifications list dimensions of 16.5 × 56.6 × 95.0 mm and a weight of 107 g. Its thickness is approximately 16 mm, giving it a slim, card-like form that is better suited to travel, an office drawer or use as a backup shaver than to replacing a large primary grooming device.

The rated power is 5 W, the rated voltage is 5 V and charging uses USB-C. The compact body is a clear advantage for travelers, although some users may prefer the grip, shaving surface and handling of a full-size shaver.
Battery life and charging
Xiaomi specifies:
- Up to 60 minutes of shaving time.
- Approximately one hour for a full charge on the MSW201 global specification page.
- A three-minute quick charge providing approximately five minutes of shaving.
Xiaomi’s “up to 60 days” statement is based on a usage simulation of one minute per day. It should not be read as a guarantee of two months of normal heavy use. Dense beards, repeated passes and longer shaving sessions will reduce practical runtime.
Some secondary coverage and other Mijia product pages mention different charging figures. The safest reference for this specific model is Xiaomi’s MSW201-specific global specification page, rather than specifications for another Mijia shaver.

Cleaning, maintenance and travel lock
The shaver has a detachable magnetic head, a zinc-alloy magnetic holder and a cleaning brush. Xiaomi also describes shock-absorbing and noise-reducing construction. The head and device can be rinsed within the product’s stated water-resistance limits.
Xiaomi warns against cleaning the case with alcohol, salt water, gasoline or other chemical agents. It also advises against hot water above 50°C and warns users not to scratch the polymer-fiber case. After rinsing, allow the shaver and contacts to dry before charging.
The travel lock is activated or disabled by holding the power button for three seconds, which is useful when packing it in luggage.
Availability: global product page does not mean global retail launch
Xiaomi maintains a global product page for the MSW201 and has region-specific specification pages, including pages for Kenya and Peru. This confirms international documentation, but it does not establish universal retail stock, a current US launch, a single global price or identical warranty terms in every country.

Xiaomi’s replacement-head page says the head is intended for the Xiaomi Portable Dual Blade Electric Shaver. Do not assume it fits the S200, S101, Pro or other Mijia models.

The MSW201 is not the Mijia Electric Shaver S200. The S200 belongs to a separate rotary-style product family with a dual-ring design and skin-contact sensing. The MSW201 is a compact reciprocating shaver with two integrated blade types in a floating head.
The choice is therefore architectural, not merely a naming difference:
- MSW201: thin, lightweight, USB-C, reciprocating dual-blade design.
- S200-style models: rotary cutting system and a different head shape and movement.
Neither design can be declared universally better from the available specifications alone.

The MSW201 is most appealing to buyers who want a very thin travel shaver, prefer a foil-style reciprocating system, value USB-C charging or want a low-cost secondary device. Xiaomi and Mijia followers may also appreciate the compact design and ecosystem branding.

It is less compelling for users who need a large shaving surface, a substantial grip, a built-in trimmer or a well-established local replacement ecosystem. Xiaomi’s specifications do not establish that it will outperform premium Philips or Braun models, and independent comfort and closeness testing is not provided in the cited sources.
Beard and skin considerations
Longer or dense stubble may require slower passes and more careful technique. Xiaomi notes that first-time users may experience itching, redness or soreness while their skin adapts. Avoid pressing hard or repeatedly scrubbing the same area.
Wet use with foam or gel may be more comfortable for some people, but the available evidence does not establish that it produces a closer shave or reduces irritation. Anyone with metal sensitivities, acne, eczema or persistent irritation should treat comfort claims cautiously and stop using the device if symptoms worsen.

Bottom line
Xiaomi’s compact dual-blade shaver is a real product: the China-launched Mijia model is documented globally as the Xiaomi Portable Dual Blade Electric Shaver, MSW201. Its strongest selling points are portability, a floating reciprocating head, USB-C charging, IPX7-rated water resistance and a 60-minute rated battery.
The 189-yuan figure applies to the June 2024 China launch, not automatically to current international sales. Before importing, verify local price, warranty, charger support and replacement-head availability. For travelers and Xiaomi fans it may be an attractive secondary shaver; users seeking maximum shaving area, premium refinement or established local support may be better served by a full-size foil or rotary alternative.
