The machine is rated to wash up to 12 kg and dry up to 9 kg, and adds habit-based AI program recommendations, Xiaomi Home connectivity, OTA updates, voice-assistant support, and automatic drying control. A reported China launch price was 2,299 yuan.
That does not make it a confirmed U.S. or worldwide product. Xiaomi’s China listing confirms the 12 kg washer-dryer, but the available evidence does not establish international pricing, electrical compatibility, warranty coverage, service support, or a global release date.

What Xiaomi actually launched
This is a combined front-load washing machine and dryer sold under Xiaomi’s Mijia smart-home brand. It is not a separate washer and tumble dryer, and it should not be confused with Xiaomi’s separately listed global Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer Pro 9kg.

Contemporary launch coverage dated July 16, 2025 reported that the larger machine was available in China with a 12 kg washing capacity and a 9 kg drying capacity. What “AI Laundry Assist” does
The available evidence supports a relatively practical interpretation of the AI feature. It recommends suitable wash programs from previous usage patterns and can remember settings or habits. In other words, it is intended to make cycle selection faster and more convenient.
There is no established evidence for this exact 12 kg model identifying every fabric, reading care labels, diagnosing stains with a camera, or independently deciding how every garment should be washed and dried. Users still need to sort clothes, check care labels, select suitable drying items, observe load limits and remove anything that should not go in a tumble dryer.
The most important detail: 12 kg washing, 9 kg drying
The two capacity figures describe different operating limits. A load weighing up to 12 kg may fit inside the washing rating but still exceed the machine’s 9 kg drying rating.
In practice, someone washing a full 12 kg load may need to remove several kilograms before starting the drying cycle. Trying to dry more than the rated capacity can increase drying time, leave clothes damp, cause more wrinkling and reduce drying performance. Bulky bedding, towels and other dense items may also need smaller loads even when their total weight appears to be within the nominal limit.
The advantage of the combination design is convenience and reduced floor space: clothes can move from washing to drying without being transferred to another appliance. The trade-off is that a complete wash-and-dry sequence can take longer than washing in one machine and drying a separate load in a dedicated dryer. The available launch material does not establish the exact drying technology, full-cycle energy use, water consumption or cycle times, so this model should not be described as a heat-pump dryer without confirmation.
Hygiene and mite-removal claims
Xiaomi’s reported claims include 99.99% sterilization and complete mite removal. These should be read as manufacturer or product-listing claims, not as a blanket guarantee that every load is medically sterilized or that every allergen and organism is eliminated.

A percentage such as 99.99% only has meaning when its scope is known: what organisms were tested, which program was used, under what laboratory conditions and by which testing organization. Xiaomi’s global Mijia washer-dryer page illustrates this issue by tying comparable hygiene claims to specified programs, organisms, testing and laboratory conditions. Smart-home controls, HyperOS and voice assistants
The machine is reported to connect with Xiaomi’s smart-home ecosystem, including app-based controls, scheduling, OTA firmware updates and XiaoAI voice support in China. Habit-based recommendations and remembered settings are also part of the connected experience.
Those features may not transfer unchanged to another country. A China-market appliance could require a China-region Xiaomi Home account, display Chinese-language menus, expose different firmware or lose cloud functions outside its intended market. XiaoAI support should not be treated as proof of Google Assistant or Alexa compatibility. Xiaomi’s global documentation describes voice control as dependent on region, language and supported services.
Price and availability
The reported China price was 2,299 yuan in coverage published July 16, 2025. It is best treated as a dated launch or listing price rather than a current price. It is not a verified U.S. price, and converting it directly into dollars would ignore exchange-rate changes, shipping, taxes, installation, retailer margins and possible electrical work. These are separate listed products. A retailer or importer describing both simply as a “Mijia washer-dryer” may obscure meaningful differences in capacity, software, support and electrical specifications.
Should you import the China-market machine?
For a buyer in China who already uses Xiaomi’s local smart-home ecosystem, the machine’s large wash capacity, integrated 9 kg dryer and app features may be attractive. For buyers elsewhere, official support is more important than the headline price.
Before importing a large appliance, verify all of the following in writing:
- Electrical compatibility: voltage, frequency, plug type and required circuit. The reviewed sources do not establish the China model’s requirements for U.S. use.
- Plumbing and installation: water-inlet, drain, clearance and installation requirements.
- App region: whether Xiaomi Home recognizes the appliance on your account and allows firmware updates in your country.
- Language and voice control: menu language, XiaoAI availability and supported commands.
- Warranty and parts: local repair, replacement components and who pays for transit damage or a failed repair.
- Compliance: applicable local safety and appliance certifications.
- Total landed cost: freight, taxes, installation, electrical work, retailer markup and the cost of returning a heavy appliance.
- Load needs: whether a 9 kg drying limit is sufficient, especially for bedding and family-sized laundry.
No independent noise, energy, drying-time, reliability or performance testing was established in the available launch evidence. That does not prove poor performance; it means the decision should not rely on unverified comparisons with dedicated dryers or locally tested washer-dryers.
Verdict
Xiaomi’s Mijia 12 kg washer-dryer is a real China-launched smart appliance with a useful 12 kg wash/9 kg dry configuration, app connectivity and convenience-focused AI recommendations. Its strongest practical limitation is also its easiest-to-miss specification: it does not wash and dry 12 kg in one cycle.
For international buyers, the bigger issue is availability. Until Xiaomi confirms local voltage compatibility, pricing, warranty, app support and authorized service for this exact model, waiting for an officially supported regional product—or choosing a locally serviced washer-dryer—is the safer decision. Xiaomi’s global 9 kg Mijia model is a separate option, not proof that the China-market 12 kg machine has launched worldwide.
