Xiaomi’s CW500 Dual went on sale in China on April 2, 2024, with an initial price of 349 yuan and a reported promotional 64GB memory card. It combines a fixed camera with a remotely controlled pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera, allowing both views to monitor different areas at the same time.
A later May 2025 Youpin listing reported 299 yuan for the camera alone or 339 yuan with a 64GB card. These are dated China-market reference prices; the available sources do not establish the current September 2026 price or stock status.

- Fixed camera: remains aimed at a selected area such as a gate, doorway, driveway or parking space.
- PTZ camera: can be moved through the Xiaomi Home app to inspect other directions or follow detected movement.
The two views can operate simultaneously. That is more useful than simply describing the product as a wider-angle PTZ camera: when the movable lens turns, the fixed lens can continue watching its assigned zone.

For example, a fixed lens could monitor a shop entrance while the PTZ lens checks an aisle, or the fixed lens could watch a front gate while the PTZ lens covers a driveway. Xiaomi also advertises linked tracking, in which the PTZ module follows a person detected by the fixed camera.
This does not eliminate every blind spot. Both lenses share one mounting position, and walls, vehicles, weather, obstructions, viewing angles and tracking failures can still limit coverage. It also cannot replace two cameras installed at widely separated locations.

Dual 4MP cameras with 2.5K video
According to Xiaomi’s specifications, both lenses have:
- 4-megapixel imaging
- f/1.6 apertures
- 2.5K video at 2560 × 1440 pixels
- H.265 video encoding
Xiaomi says H.265 can reduce bandwidth and storage use compared with less efficient encoding. The camera also supports smart full-colour night vision. Each camera is described as having two white lights and two infrared lights, with supplementary lighting used to produce colour footage when a person is detected.
That is an advertised lighting and detection function, not a guarantee of full-colour footage in every dark, rainy or foggy environment. Image quality and detection performance can vary with distance, lighting, weather, camera placement and obstructions.
Detection, tracking and deterrence features
The CW500 Dual supports human and vehicle detection, smartphone alerts through Xiaomi Home, virtual fences and human tracking. Xiaomi also lists two-way voice communication, sound alarms and flashing-light deterrence.

These functions require realistic expectations. Detection accuracy is environment-sensitive, and some features must be enabled manually. A notification is not guaranteed real-time emergency response, while a sound-and-light alarm may deter some intruders but is not a substitute for a professionally monitored alarm system.
Xiaomi also advertises an MJA1 security chipset with a unique key and certificate for each chip. This is a manufacturer-described hardware security feature. It should not be treated as proof that the camera is hacker-proof, independently audited or automatically more private than every competing product. Account security, network configuration, cloud policies and local privacy rules remain important.
Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet and the missing PoE support
The camera supports dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6 and wired Ethernet. Wireless range still depends on the router, interference, walls, mounting distance and local network conditions.

Xiaomi specifically states that PoE is not supported. Ethernet can provide a more stable network connection where Wi-Fi is unreliable, but it does not carry power to the camera in a PoE installation. The camera still needs its separate power connection.

Storage options and ongoing costs
Recording can be handled through:
- MicroSD storage: Xiaomi recommends a certified 16GB to 256GB card.
- Xiaomi Cloud: a paid service; some cloud-dependent recording functions require activation.
- Network-attached storage: useful for buyers who want network-based storage rather than relying only on cloud recording.
A memory card is not necessarily included. Buyers should check whether a listing is camera-only or includes the 64GB bundle, and should account for cloud fees if they do not want to manage local or NAS storage.

The camera body has an IP66 dust- and water-resistance rating. IP66 protects against dust and water jets; it does not mean the camera can be submerged, and the rating does not automatically cover every part of the installation.
Xiaomi warns that the power adapter is not waterproof and is intended for indoor use. Plugs, extension connections, Ethernet connectors and cable entry points also need protection against water ingress.

The camera should be securely mounted to a wall capable of supporting at least three times the total camera weight. Pole installation requires separately purchased general-purpose 8mm or 12mm clamps. Ethernet cable and pole clamps are not necessarily included.

Setup checklist
- Install the latest Xiaomi Home app.
- Power the camera using its required 12V, 1A supply.
- Reset the camera if necessary.
- Scan the QR code printed on the camera body.
- Connect it to a supported 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless network, or configure the wired connection.
- Test both camera views, PTZ movement, alerts, storage and night illumination.
- Enable optional features such as linked tracking, virtual fences, active deterrence and cloud storage.
- Only then complete the permanent wall or pole installation.
Testing first matters because the device QR code is on the camera body and may be difficult to access after mounting. If setup fails, check the 12V, 1A power supply, router distance, concrete-wall obstruction, network band, microSD formatting and whether the dust cap has been properly resealed after inserting the card. If PTZ movement becomes inaccurate after prolonged use, calibration may be required.

Who is the CW500 Dual for?
It is a good fit for buyers who need two simultaneous views from one mounting position, already use Xiaomi Home, or want a choice of microSD, NAS and cloud storage. It is especially practical where one area needs constant fixed coverage and a nearby area benefits from PTZ movement.

Buyers outside China should also verify the exact regional model, Xiaomi Home compatibility, cloud availability, power-adapter type, warranty and voice-assistant support before ordering. Alexa and Google Home support may vary by region and language.
The CW500 Dual’s meaningful advantage is continuity: a fixed view remains active while a second lens moves. Its 2.5K resolution, detection features and storage choices add useful capability, but they do not remove the practical limits of PTZ tracking, outdoor installation or region-specific software services.
