Wyze Window Cam is a standalone 1080p security camera that mounts inside a window and looks outside. Launched in the U.S. on November 25, 2025, at $34.98, it avoids exterior drilling, ladders, exposed wiring, and weatherproofing. It still needs a power outlet, 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi, a suitable window, and a cable routed indoors.
That makes it a practical solution for renters and homeowners who want to watch a driveway, porch, walkway, or yard without installing hardware outside. It is not, however, a battery-powered or weather-resistant outdoor camera.

What Wyze Window Cam actually is
Wyze Window Cam is designed specifically for indoor, through-glass surveillance. Its adhesive hook-and-loop mounting system attaches to the inside of a window, while an extra-long power cable connects the camera to an indoor outlet. Wyze says its optics are designed to reduce glare caused by window glass, rather than simply placing a conventional indoor camera behind a pane.
The camera records at 1080p and uses Wyze’s enhanced “Pro Color Night Vision.” It does not include IR lights, an IR cut filter, or a spotlight. Those omissions are important: Window Cam is optimized for discreet viewing through glass, not for providing the exterior lighting and deterrence features associated with a conventional outdoor camera.

It is also different from the older Wyze Window Mount accessory. The older mount is intended for selected existing cameras, including Wyze Cam v3, Cam v3 Pro, Cam v4, and the Cam OG series. Window Cam integrates the mounting system into a camera built for this particular installation.
Which installation problems does it solve?
For a typical first-floor window, Window Cam removes much of the work involved in mounting a security camera outdoors:
- No drilling into siding, brick, stucco, or masonry.
- No exterior bracket, wall anchors, or screw-hole sealant.
- No ladder work for the initial installation.
- No outdoor-rated outlet or exposed outdoor power route.
- Less exposure to rain, snow, theft, and physical tampering.
- Easy removal compared with a screwed-in exterior camera.
The limitation is that it only shifts the installation indoors. You still have to choose a window with a useful view, clean the glass, place the adhesive securely, find an outlet, and prevent the cable from pulling on the mount. The adhesive stickers should be treated as one-time-use items, so testing the view before committing to the final position is worthwhile.

Confirm these requirements first:
- A clean, dry interior window surface.
- A clear exterior pane and an unobstructed sightline.
- No window screen between the lens and the scene. Wyze warns that screens can reduce video quality.
- A nearby indoor power outlet.
- A 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network.
- A phone or tablet with the Wyze app.
- A cable path that will not be tugged, pinched, or pulled when the window moves.
Window design matters, too. Sliding windows, opening windows, tinted or highly reflective glass, blinds, curtains, security film, and steeply angled views can all make the installation less effective. An upper-floor window may have a good view but still be impractical if there is no convenient indoor outlet.

How to set up Wyze Window Cam
Wyze’s setup guide may change as the app is updated, but the current path is:
- Download or update the Wyze app and sign in.
- Connect your phone to a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Remove the protective film from the lens.
- Connect the camera to the included USB cable and power adapter.
- Open the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the + button in the upper-right corner.
- Select Device > Cameras > Wired Camera > Wyze Window Cam.
- Follow the Bluetooth-assisted setup process.
- Clean and thoroughly dry the intended mounting area.
- Apply the mounting sticker to the inside of the glass.
- Press the camera onto the hook-and-loop surface.
- Route the extra cable so it hangs naturally without pulling on the camera.
- Check the live view in daylight and after dark before finalizing the position.
Keep the lens as close and square to the glass as practical. A perpendicular position generally gives the camera less glass surface and fewer opportunities for reflections to interfere with the image.
Glare reduction is helpful, not magic
Glare is the central reason to consider Window Cam over a regular indoor camera placed behind a window. Wyze says the camera was designed to reduce glare in this position. That is more precise than saying it eliminates glare.

Reflections can still come from interior lights, bright rooms, lamps, reflective furniture, direct sunlight, dirty glass, viewing angles, and screens. To improve the image:

- Clean both sides of the window.
- Turn off or dim lights near the camera at night.
- Move lamps and reflective objects away from the lens.
- Keep the camera close to and square with the pane.
- Avoid screened windows.
- Test the image in both daylight and darkness before using the adhesive.
Video, night viewing, and recording
Window Cam provides 1080p HD video and Wyze’s enhanced color-night-vision feature. Wyze describes the camera as using an f/10 aperture lens and a BSI sensor to support color imagery in very low light without the same IR hardware found on many other cameras.
There is an important qualification: color night vision should not be interpreted as guaranteed usable video in complete darkness. Because Window Cam has no IR lights, a location with little or no ambient light may produce poor results. A porch light, street lighting, or other available illumination can make the difference.
Wyze advertises motion detection and app alerts, 24/7 local recording to a microSD card, timelapse mode, and Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT support. Some more descriptive AI alerts are associated with an upgraded Cam Unlimited plan, so “local recording” does not mean every cloud or AI feature is included without a subscription.

Because those units conflict, check the current product documentation before buying a card or relying on a specific maximum. The safer conclusion is that local microSD recording is advertised, but the supported capacity should be confirmed from the latest specification.

What Window Cam cannot replace
Window Cam is a poor substitute when you need:
- Battery operation or a completely wireless installation.
- Weather exposure and an exterior mounting position.
- Coverage of a side yard, rear gate, detached garage, or area not visible from a window.
- A camera close to the exterior wall rather than behind a pane.
- A built-in spotlight, IR illumination, or a visible exterior presence.
- Higher than 1080p resolution.
- Reliable viewing in total darkness without ambient light.
An outdoor camera can also offer more freedom to aim at a driveway or property boundary. Window Cam’s view is constrained by the window’s height, angle, frame, blinds, and surrounding architecture. It may be excellent for a front-facing porch or driveway and unusable for a side passage.

If you already own a compatible Wyze camera, the older Window Mount may be the cheaper route. It does not turn that camera into a purpose-built behind-glass product, however. Window Cam’s main advantage is the combination of integrated mounting and optics intended for this placement.
Fixing common mounting problems
If the camera falls or the adhesive will not hold, Wyze’s mounting troubleshooting guidance points to four common causes: an inadequately cleaned surface, a poorly attached sticker, lint or dirt in the hook-and-loop material, worn hooks, or cable tension.
Clean and dry the glass, remove lint from the fastener, and reroute the cable so it does not pull downward or sideways. Use the included backup sticker only after selecting the final location. If the window opens, make sure movement does not strain the cable or knock the camera loose.

Privacy and account security
Keeping the hardware indoors reduces exposure to weather and tampering, but it does not remove privacy responsibilities. Aim the camera only at areas you have a legitimate reason to monitor and avoid neighbors’ private spaces. Recording public areas or audio may also be governed by local law or community rules, which vary by jurisdiction.
Use a strong, unique Wyze account password and secure the associated email account. Decide whether local microSD recording meets your needs before paying for cloud history or AI features.
Who should buy Wyze Window Cam?
Buy it when the installation constraint is the main problem. It is a strong fit for renters, apartment dwellers, and homeowners who need a low-cost camera aimed through a reachable window and do not want to drill, climb, run outdoor wiring, or weatherproof an exterior mount. The U.S. launch price was $34.98; the retrieved Wyze product page displayed $34.98 for one camera and $59.98 for a two-pack, but prices can change. Check the live Wyze listing before purchasing.

Choose the older Window Mount if you already own a compatible Wyze camera and are willing to accept that it was not designed around the same behind-glass optical use case.
Ring Indoor Cam and eufy Indoor Cam C220 may make more sense for buyers already committed to those ecosystems, apps, or subscriptions. They are general indoor cameras adapted to the window problem, not direct replacements for Window Cam’s integrated, glare-oriented design.
