Wyze advertises up to six months of battery life, but its support guidance gives the more realistic expectation of three to six months with normal use. The built-in battery cannot be swapped, and the strongest AI features require a Cam Plus subscription.
The model launched in October 2025 and remained listed by Wyze on August 18, 2026. The displayed US price was $65.98 without a chime or $79.98 with a chime; both prices and stock can change.
What is the Wyze Battery Video Doorbell?
This is Wyze’s newer battery-powered doorbell, separate from the wired Wyze Video Doorbell v2, the older Battery Video Doorbell Pro, and the dual-camera Duo Cam Doorbell. Its appeal is a combination of low entry cost, flexible installation and a square image intended to show both a visitor’s face and packages near the threshold.
Wyze introduced the product in October 2025. See the introduction announcement and current product page.

Battery life: six months is an upper limit
Wyze’s headline is “up to 6-month battery life.” Its battery-life support article narrows that to three to six months with normal use. That is a published range, not a guaranteed minimum or a measured result for every home. A busy entrance, frequent live views, poor Wi-Fi, cold weather or intensive recording can all make charging more frequent.
The 6,400mAh lithium-ion battery is built in and non-removable. Wyze lists approximately six hours for a full charge from empty. The box includes a USB-C-to-USB-A cable, but the required 5V/2A power adapter is not included. Consult Wyze’s battery-life guidance and technical specifications.
What happens when it needs charging?
You must reach the USB-C port or remove the doorbell from its mount. That is less convenient than swapping a charged pack, as you can with the Duo Cam Doorbell. Install it where removal is easy, or use compatible existing wiring if taking it down several times a year would be troublesome.

Optional hardwiring
The doorbell accepts 12–24V AC, 50/60Hz power. Battery operation is Wyze’s recommended mode, but hardwiring can suit a high-traffic entrance. Check the transformer and wiring rating before connecting it; systems outside that range may require electrical work. Hardwiring should not be assumed to provide the same recording behavior as a purpose-built wired model.

| Specification | Wyze’s listed detail |
|---|---|
| Resolution and shape | 1536 × 1536 HD+, 1:1 aspect ratio |
| Field of view | 148° horizontal, 148° vertical, 180° diagonal |
| Frame rate | 20 fps daytime; 15 fps nighttime |
| Night vision | Color night vision with 850nm infrared illumination |

| Weather rating | IP65 |
| Operating temperature | –4°F to 122°F |
| Dimensions and weight | 5.71 × 1.85 × 1.14 inches; 7.58 ounces |
The square frame is useful when packages sit close to the door because it preserves vertical coverage. “HD+” is not 2K: the wired Video Doorbell v2 records at 2048 × 1536. Wyze’s marketing copy sometimes rounds the viewing angle to 150° × 150°, while the technical page gives the more precise 148° × 148° figures above.
IP65 means resistance to dust and water jets; it is not an immersion rating or a promise that every exposed installation will remain trouble-free.

Alerts, audio and smart-home features
- Motion notifications and two-way simultaneous audio.
- Pre-made responses, including a package-drop instruction.
- A 90dB siren and Motion Warning, which can tell visitors they are being recorded.
- Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT integration, plus Wyze Automations and Wyze Web View compatibility.
Basic Wyze access provides live streaming, motion and sound alerts and image-only cloud storage. Person and package detection are part of Wyze’s paid AI service rather than a free motion-alert equivalent.
Storage and the subscription decision
Local microSD recording
The doorbell has a microSD slot, but no card is included. Wyze documents 8GB–32GB cards formatted FAT32 and cards up to 256GB formatted exFAT. A card can reduce dependence on cloud storage, although it remains inside the doorbell and could disappear with the device in a theft.

What Cam Plus adds
Cam Plus adds person, pet, vehicle and package detections, complete event recordings, 14-day event-video cloud storage and Wyze Web View. Wyze’s service-plan page listed Cam Plus at $2.99 per month for one camera on August 18, 2026; Cam Unlimited was $9.99 per month and Cam Unlimited Pro $19.99. Subscription terms and prices can change.
Therefore, the doorbell can work without a subscription, but buyers wanting package/person alerts or off-site event history should include Cam Plus in the ownership cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Chime, wiring and network requirements
The $65.98 configuration does not include a physical chime. The $79.98 bundle includes one, based on Wyze’s displayed prices on August 18, 2026. Other alert options include an existing mechanical chime, Wyze Chime Controller, Wyze Universal Wi-Fi Chime, a compatible Wyze Cam used as a chime, phone notifications and smart-home announcements.
Best Value
Battery installation needs no existing doorbell wiring, making it practical for renters or a new location. For a wired installation, verify 12–24V AC compatibility. The camera connects over 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, not 5GHz, and uses BLE 5.0 for setup. Check 2.4GHz signal strength at the mounting point; a strong signal beside the router does not guarantee reliable service at the front door. The phone requirements are Android 10 or later and iOS 16 or later.
Installation and setup
Wyze’s current quick-start guide gives this sequence; app labels may change in later releases.
- Charge the doorbell before mounting it.
- Insert a microSD card first if local recording is wanted.
- Install the Wyze app and sign in or create an account.
- Tap +, then Device > Cameras > Video Doorbells > Wyze Battery Video Doorbell.
- Follow the pairing and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi prompts.
- Fix the back plate to the wall, using the supplied corner kit or wedge parts where the angle requires them.
- Attach the doorbell and test live view, the press event, motion detection, two-way audio and the selected chime.
Read the quick-start guide and full manual for mounting details.
How it compares with Wyze alternatives
| Model | Key specifications and price signal | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Battery Video Doorbell | 1536 × 1536; non-removable 6,400mAh battery; local microSD; $65.98 without chime or $79.98 with chime (August 18, 2026) | Low-cost, flexible installation |
| Video Doorbell v2 | Wired-only 2K (2048 × 1536), existing mechanical chime support, local microSD and 24/7 recording; displayed at $59.98 | Homes with compatible wiring that prioritize detail or continuous recording |
| Duo Cam Doorbell | 2K front camera plus 1920 × 1080 lower camera, removable battery and included Wyze Wi-Fi Chime; collection page displayed $119.98 | Package-focused, two-view coverage and swappable batteries |
| Video Doorbell Pro | Older battery model with up to six months claimed, 1440 × 1440 video and included Chime Pro; availability varies | Only if available at a meaningful discount |
The v2’s lower displayed price does not make it a substitute for a wire-free installation. Conversely, the Duo Cam’s removable pack may justify its higher cost for a busy entrance.

Reasons to buy and reasons to pass
Buy it if you need
- A low upfront price and installation without an existing doorbell circuit.
- A wide, square view of people and packages near the threshold.
- Local microSD storage, basic alerts and Wyze smart-home integrations.
- A three-to-six-month charging interval that suits your traffic level.
Choose another model if you need
- A guaranteed six-month interval or a battery you can swap without removing the doorbell.
- 2K detail, which points to the wired Video Doorbell v2.
- Two camera angles and a dedicated package view, which points to the Duo Cam Doorbell.
- AI detections or cloud event history without paying a recurring subscription.
- 5GHz Wi-Fi support or a complete setup that includes every accessory by default.
Bottom line
The Wyze Battery Video Doorbell is a credible budget choice when wire-free placement matters more than maximum resolution or a swappable battery. Treat “six months” as Wyze’s best-case headline and plan around its stated three-to-six-month normal-use range. Before ordering, price the complete setup—chime, 5V/2A adapter, microSD card and any Cam Plus subscription—not just the doorbell.
