Wyze’s Bulb Cam combines an outdoor security camera and a smart light in one device that screws into a 120V E26 socket. It can simplify installation where a camera outlet is inconvenient, but it does not turn every fixture into a camera: the socket, fixture shape, clearance and exposure all matter.
What the Wyze Bulb Cam does
Announced June 3, 2025, the Bulb Cam is designed for locations such as garages, decks and pool areas where a conventional powered camera may be awkward to install. Instead of a separate camera mount and outlet, the unit draws power from an E26 light socket and combines a camera with a downward-extending light and camera assembly. Wyze describes the camera as telescoping; the fixture must leave the lens unobstructed below its lower edge.

Wyze lists the camera at 2K resolution (2304 × 1296), with a 166° diagonal, 144° horizontal and 82.5° vertical field of view. Its specification page lists up to 800 lumens at 3000K and color night vision. Wyze rounds the field of view to 160° in launch and comparison materials. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent image-quality or detection test results. Wyze identifies this model as 2K, not 2.5K QHD.
Will it fit your existing fixture?
Check the fixture before buying or installing. Wyze requires an E26 socket and enough room for the camera to hang below the fixture. The camera should not look through glass or be blocked by the fixture housing, which can impair image quality and detection.

- Socket: The fixture must have an E26 socket. Wyze lists E17 sockets as incompatible.
- Shape and clearance: The fixture cannot be fully enclosed, and the camera needs unobstructed space below its lower edge.
- Integrated lighting: An integrated-LED fixture without a replaceable E26 bulb socket is not compatible.
- Exposure: Wyze warns against direct exposure to water. Confirm that the mounting location suits the product’s installation and exposure limits rather than assuming any outdoor fixture is appropriate.
For construction or retrofit planning, the practical advantage is reuse of an existing, suitably located socket. If the fixture is incompatible or the camera would be hidden behind glass or housing, this is not a substitute for selecting a camera mounting position designed for an unobstructed view.
Installation and safety checks
- Confirm the fixture: Verify that it has an E26 socket, is not fully enclosed or integrated LED, and provides clearance for the camera below the fixture.
- Switch off power: Wyze’s quick start guide directs users to turn off power before installation.
- Check the controls: Do not install it on a circuit controlled by a dimmer or timer; Wyze warns against both.
- Install and restore power: Follow the product’s quick start guide for the physical installation and setup, then restore power. Do not treat the launch description that setup is “as easy as screwing in a light bulb” as a compatibility or safety guarantee.
Recording, subscription and optional bulbs
Wyze says the camera can record continuously to a microSD card up to 256 GB without a subscription. The card is sold separately. Wyze describes Cam Plus as adding AI alerts and cloud backup, so local recording and subscription-enabled cloud features are distinct options.

Wyze also says the camera can synchronize with up to five separately sold Accessory Bulbs. That option extends coordinated lighting; it is not required to use the camera.

The installation method and brightness are useful distinctions: the Bulb Cam is the socket-based option, while Floodlight v2 is listed for junction-box wiring and substantially higher light output. The chart does not establish equivalent motion detection, outdoor ratings or local-storage details across all three products, so those should not be inferred from this comparison.
