Construction work at the future Hard Rock Las Vegas site reportedly resumed Tuesday, October 6, after a precautionary evacuation the day before. The initial report concerned a “vague threat of violence” at a construction site in the 3400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard; police said there was no active or known danger at the time.
What happened at the Las Vegas Strip construction site?
On Monday, October 5, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated a reported “vague threat of violence” at a construction site in the 3400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard. KTNV reported that site management decided to evacuate workers as a precaution while police investigated. Police did not identify a target in the initial report.
KTNV quoted a police department spokesperson saying, “Detectives are currently on scene determining the legitimacy of any threats.” The report also described the evacuation as being made “out of an abundance of caution.”
Was the site identified as the Hard Rock project?
Police’s initial description, as reported by KTNV, was a construction site in the 3400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard. KTNV noted that the block includes the future Hard Rock Las Vegas Hotel & Casino site. Network in Vegas separately identified the evacuated location as the Hard Rock construction project and reproduced an LVMPD social post. The identification of the specific project comes from local reporting, rather than the police description quoted by KTNV.
