A February 2023 PerthNow story reported social-media users recommending Bunnings’ Tricleanium All Purpose Cleaner for jobs including walls, grout, floors and range-hood filters. Those posts and photos are anecdotes, not sales figures or independent cleaning tests. Tricleanium is an alkaline-salt cleaner sold as a concentrate and as a separate ready-to-use spray; the manufacturer’s dilution and rinse directions matter, particularly when cleaning surfaces before painting.
Why Tricleanium drew attention
PerthNow’s 16 February 2023 report described shoppers as enthusiastic about the cleaner and shared selected Facebook-group comments and transformation pictures. That is evidence of online recommendations, not proof that the product reached “cult status,” that it became broadly popular, or that it outperforms other cleaners. The comments were anonymous, and the pictured results were not independent tests. Read the PerthNow report.
The practical interest is easier to explain: the manufacturer lists a range of washable household surfaces and cleaning jobs, and gives separate mix rates for routine cleaning and heavier soiling or pre-paint preparation. Those are manufacturer directions and claims, not independently verified performance results.
What Tricleanium is
Bunnings lists the 1kg All Purpose Cleaner as a concentrate that must be diluted. The manufacturer describes it as suitable for cleaning and preparing surfaces before painting or wallpapering, including removing dirt, grease, mould and smoke stains from various washable surfaces. A Bunnings-hosted safety data sheet issued 22 April 2025 identifies trisodium phosphate (CAS 10101-89-0) at 98–100% by weight in Section 3. That specific range is from the dated sheet; it should not be conflated with broader marketing descriptions such as “100% alkaline salts.” Read the safety data sheet.
How to dilute and apply the concentrate

Use a sponge, cloth or mop to apply the solution. The manufacturer says to let it penetrate briefly, but not to let the surface dry, then rinse washed surfaces with fresh water. Its instruction is explicit: “All surfaces that are washed with TRICLEANIUM should be rinsed with fresh water after cleaning.” Follow the current product label and safety data sheet, including any surface-specific cautions, rather than assuming a dilution is suitable for every material.
Where the manufacturer says it can be used
The manufacturer lists inside and outside cleaning uses, including walls, ceilings, floors, benchtops, tiles, stoves, range hoods, baths, showers, windows, BBQs and some greasy engine parts. This list is not a guarantee that every finish or material will tolerate the cleaner. Check the label’s directions for the surface, and use caution where the material or coating is uncertain. For construction and renovation work, the stated pre-painting use is especially relevant: the product is positioned for removing contaminants from washable surfaces before painting or wallpapering. Respect the specified mix rate and rinse step; do not treat a social-media before-and-after image as evidence that a surface is ready for coating.
Concentrate or ready-to-use spray?
Bunnings lists both a 1kg concentrate and a separate 750ml ready-to-use product. The concentrate requires measuring and mixing; the 750ml version is supplied pre-mixed and is described for quick clean-ups and smaller jobs. No independent performance comparison between the two formats is established.

Use the current product label and safety data sheet as the authority for handling and surface-specific instructions. Do not leave the solution to dry on the surface, and rinse washed surfaces with fresh water as directed.
