In an interview with Andy Dehnart, published July 22, 2016 and updated June 18, 2020, Marty Raney described Discovery as making a budget available for significant improvements when he convinced the network that a homestead needed specific projects. Raney’s account suggests that the proposed work mattered: he had to persuade Discovery that the homestead needed the projects. It does not specify a fixed allowance, whether every requested project was approved, or whether the same arrangement applied across all seasons.

Raney also said Discovery wanted the team to look for materials on the property and reuse them where possible to save money. That describes a cost-conscious approach, not a claim that reclaimed materials covered the whole build or eliminated purchases and other expenses.

No salary amount, per-episode fee, annual pay, or contract terms for Marty Raney appear in the sources reviewed. Nor do they establish how compensation is divided among Marty, Matt, and Misty. Does the cabin rebuilt after a fire have the same funding arrangement?
Discovery separately documented the Raney family rebuilding a new cabin for Marty and Mollee after a fire. That feature does not state who funded the family’s personal cabin project, so Raney’s comments about budgets for Homestead Rescue homesteads cannot establish how that rebuild was paid for. What the available figures do—and do not—show
Raney recalled 36 inches of snow on the first day of filming and described one shoot as lasting 100 days straight in the Dehnart interview. Those are production anecdotes from his account, not renovation costs, salary figures, or evidence of a standard production schedule. The sources reviewed provide no reliable total for renovation spending and no confirmed cast-pay figure.
What the show’s premise tells viewers
Discovery describes Marty, Matt, and Misty Raney as applying building, farming, and hunting skills to help people pursuing off-grid living. Its 2026 press material also announced Homestead Rescue: Intervention, a spin-off in which the Raneys respond to requests for help.
