Open the oven door and check the label on either side of the front frame. If it is not there, look at the left side of the storage or warming drawer. The exact location varies by model; Samsung’s guidance for ranges sold in Canada also lists underneath the cooktop as a possible location on some models.
Where to look first
- Open the oven door. When the range is cool enough to approach comfortably, inspect both the right and left sides of the front frame for a printed label. Samsung lists the front frame as a location for range identification numbers. Samsung’s Canada range guide and its general appliance guidance describe these locations.
- Check the drawer area. If the frame has no label, inspect the left side of the storage or warming drawer. Samsung’s Canada range guide also lists a spot behind the warming drawer.
- Consult the manual if neither location matches. Samsung’s Canada guide lists underneath the cooktop as a possible location for some ranges, but this is not a universal location. Follow the manual for your specific model; do not move or dismantle an installed range just to look for the label.
How to identify the model number
The label may identify the model as “Model” or “Model Code” and the serial number as “S/N.” These are useful visual cues, but label wording and layout can vary. Record the model number or model code exactly as printed, including letters and punctuation.
The model number identifies the range’s model, including its design and features. The serial number identifies the individual appliance and may be used for product-history or warranty-related identification. A label may show both, so keep them distinct in your notes. Samsung’s range guide explains the distinction.
If the label is hard to read or missing
- Dim location: Use a flashlight to illuminate the label. Samsung specifically recommends a flashlight when the area is dim; a phone light may be enough.
- Awkward angle or small print: Take a close-up photo and enlarge it to read the characters. Samsung recommends photographing a hard-to-reach label.
- No readable label: Check the user manual or original purchase documents, which may include the identifiers. If you still cannot find them, contact Samsung support. These suggestions appear in Samsung’s Canada range guide.
Use the right guidance for your market and model
Samsung’s dedicated range-location guide is for ranges sold in Canada and notes that locations can differ for models sold elsewhere. Its under-cooktop location is therefore a model- and market-specific possibility, not a general instruction for every Samsung stove. If the usual spots do not match your appliance, use its model-specific manual or your local Samsung support page.

Once you have the model code, Samsung US range support lets you search by model code or product name and access support options including manuals, warranty details, and repair requests. Finding the model code helps identify the appliance, but does not by itself determine warranty coverage or part compatibility.
