Search by the company name or trading symbol, narrow the results with a subject keyword and date range, then open the exchange-hosted attachment and record its broadcast date and time. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Corporate Filings directory is the quickest way to identify the right category and reach the corresponding National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) or BSE destination.
That process gives you an official dissemination record. It does not mean the exchange has independently confirmed that the company’s statement is accurate, complete or legally sufficient.

1. Identify where the company is actually listed
Before searching, establish which exchange and security segment are relevant. An issuer can have securities presented on both NSE and BSE, and the same event may appear separately on each exchange. Search each exchange rather than assuming one result covers every official posting.

Check the security and segment
- Confirm the exact listed company name and trading symbol. Similar names, old names and group entities can produce misleading results.
- Determine whether you are looking for an equity filing, a debt-security disclosure or another listed instrument. The applicable category and calendar can differ by segment.
- Note whether the security is on the main board or another segment. Compliance pages and due dates are often segment-specific.
If you are investigating a historical event, preserve the company name as it appeared at the time as well as its current symbol. A symbol change or corporate reorganisation can affect search results.

2. Search NSE’s Corporate Filings Announcement page
NSE’s Corporate Filings Announcement page is the most practical starting point when you know the issuer or a broad subject. Its search controls allow a company name or symbol, a keyword and a date window. Results show the subject, filing details, an attachment link and the exchange broadcast date and time.
Step-by-step search
- Open NSE’s Corporate Filings Announcement page.
- Enter the listed company’s current name or symbol. If the result set is empty, try the historical name or verify the symbol from another official listing page.
- Enter a distinctive subject keyword when you know the event. Examples include “financial results,” “shareholding pattern,” “related party,” “voting results,” “insider trading,” “secretarial compliance” or “deviation.” Avoid a very broad word if it returns many years of notices.
- Set a date range that covers the event. For a known board meeting or filing date, use a narrow window first; expand it only if the result is missing.
- Review the returned subject and details before opening anything. Check that the security and company match your intended issuer.
- Open the attachment from the exchange result. Save the document together with the displayed broadcast date and time, subject and category.
The result row is useful for discovery, but the attachment is the document you should read and retain. A notice can contain a short description while the attached PDF or electronic document contains the actual financial statement, table or resolution.
How to use the search fields
- Company or symbol: Use the symbol when the page supports it and the full legal name when a symbol search fails.
- Subject: Match the wording used by the exchange. A “results” search may not return an item filed under “financial results” unless the keyword is broad enough.
- Date range: Distinguish the period covered by a report from the date the company uploaded it. The search date normally relates to the exchange posting, not the accounting period.
- Attachment: Prefer a result with a primary attachment over an item that only repeats a headline or points elsewhere.
3. Use SEBI’s Corporate Filings directory to choose the right category
SEBI’s Corporate Filings directory maps common disclosure categories to destinations on NSE and BSE. It is useful when you know what kind of compliance document you need but do not know the exchange’s exact menu path. Select the category, then follow the exchange destination provided for that category.

Category names, menu structures and filing deadlines can change. Treat the directory as a routing aid, then confirm the current exchange page and the applicable segment before relying on a due date.

4. Find compliance notices, suspensions and due-date information
A company announcement and an exchange compliance notice serve different purposes. If you need to know whether trading has been suspended, limited or subject to a compliance action, use the exchange’s compliance-information materials rather than searching only the company-announcement feed.
NSE compliance information
NSE maintains compliance-information materials that explain status notices and related requirements. Use these pages when you are checking an exchange action, a restriction or the reason a filing is flagged. Read the notice for the affected security, segment and effective date; do not infer that a notice for one segment applies to every security issued by the company.
NSE’s main-board compliance calendar
The main-board compliance calendar provides due-date context for recurring obligations. It can help you decide whether a missing filing is late, but the calendar is not a substitute for the current rule or a notice specific to the issuer. Confirm the applicable period, segment and any revised deadline shown by the exchange.

SEBI’s directory provides routes to BSE category pages. BSE’s live interface may use different labels and filters from NSE, so record the exact category, posting date and attachment shown there. If you are comparing the two exchanges, do not treat a difference in display order or wording as evidence that one filing is invalid; first compare the underlying document and its timestamps.

5. Interpret the document and its timestamp correctly
An exchange result normally contains several dates that answer different questions. Keep them separate in your notes.
- Event date: When a board meeting, general meeting, transaction or other event occurred or was announced.
- Reporting period: The quarter, half-year or financial year covered by the disclosure.
- Document date: The date printed inside the attachment, if any.
- Exchange broadcast date and time: When the exchange shows that the filing was disseminated on its platform.
- Effective date: The date a suspension, trading restriction or other action takes effect, where stated.
For a timeline, cite the exchange broadcast timestamp exactly as displayed and preserve the time-zone indication if the page provides one. A document can be signed or dated before it is uploaded, so the printed date is not automatically the dissemination time.
When comparing NSE and BSE entries, a small time difference can reflect separate uploads or processing. Compare the attachments, not just the minute shown in a search result. If an important chronology depends on the difference, retain screenshots or downloaded copies showing both entries.
6. Understand what “official” means
NSE’s filings application states that uploaded information is disseminated without the exchange verifying its adequacy, accuracy or veracity. “Official filing” therefore describes the channel and the fact that the company’s material was published through the exchange system. It does not certify the truth of every statement in the attachment.

Separate three questions
- Was it disseminated? The exchange result, attachment and broadcast timestamp answer this question.
- What does the company state? Read the attachment, including qualifications, schedules, notes and signatures.
- Is the statement correct or complete? That requires independent evaluation, other filings, auditor or regulator material and, where appropriate, professional advice. The exchange posting alone does not establish it.
Use cautious wording in your own records: “The company filed a document titled …, disseminated by [exchange] at [displayed time].” Avoid converting that into “the exchange confirmed …” unless a separate exchange notice actually makes that finding.

For each document that matters to your analysis, create one entry with enough information for another reader to reproduce the search.
- Legal company name and trading symbol used in the search.
- Exchange name and security segment.
- SEBI or exchange category, plus the result’s subject line.
- Exchange posting or broadcast date and time, copied exactly.
- Document title, printed date and reporting period from the attachment.
- Attachment file name and a stable local copy, subject to your records policy.
- A short note explaining whether the item is a company disclosure, a regulator-related filing or an exchange compliance notice.
- Any correction, revision, withdrawal or later replacement that appears in the exchange record.
This record prevents a common error: citing a quarterly report’s period as though it were the date on which the exchange received or disseminated it.
8. Troubleshoot missing or confusing results
No result for the company name
Try the trading symbol, remove punctuation, check the current legal name and search the other exchange. If the event is old, look for a former name or a broader date range.

Too many results
Use a distinctive subject keyword, shorten the date range and filter by the correct segment. Open only rows whose subject and issuer match your question.
The attachment will not open
Retry from the result row, use the exchange’s current filing interface and record the metadata before trying again. If the page displays a replacement or revised attachment, retain the later version and note that it supersedes the earlier file.
NSE and BSE show different dates
Check whether the entries are separate uploads, whether one is a revised document and whether the attachments are identical. Record both broadcast times rather than choosing one without evidence.

You need a deadline, not a document
Consult the relevant compliance-information page and calendar, then verify the issuer’s segment and the rule currently in force. A general calendar entry does not by itself prove that a company was late or compliant.
9. A repeatable workflow for important checks
- List every exchange and security segment relevant to the issuer.
- Use SEBI’s Corporate Filings directory to select the disclosure category.
- Search the corresponding NSE or BSE corporate-filings page by company or symbol.
- Apply a subject keyword and date range that fit the event.
- Compare the result subject, issuer and segment with your question.
- Open and read the primary attachment, including notes and qualifications.
- Record the exchange, category, filing date and broadcast timestamp.
- For status or lateness questions, check the exchange compliance-information page and current calendar.
- State separately what was disseminated and what the document claims; do not describe exchange publication as independent verification.
SEBI’s investor FAQ, published in 2017, also directs investors toward BSE and NSE corporate announcements and company-result pages. Its general guidance remains useful, but individual page references may be outdated, so use the current exchange interfaces and confirm that the destination still matches the filing category.
This navigation method helps you locate the authoritative posting and understand its timing without overstating what an exchange publication proves. It is a document-finding guide, not legal advice about which disclosure a particular issuer must file.
