The company said it was aiming to open before summer 2027; its store directory labels the location “Opening Early 2027.” Those are targets, not a confirmed opening date.
Where the project stands
The planned supermarket is at 3713 Colony Drive, in the Colonies North Shopping Center. MySA reported that crews were operating machinery inside when its reporter visited on Oct. 8, 2026, but the interior still appeared mostly empty apart from building materials. The report says three existing retail tenants are being remodeled to create the food hub.

The company acknowledged the delay in a statement quoted by MySA: “Unfortunately, our construction has been delayed.” In a Sept. 30 email to the publication, a spokesperson said staff “are aiming to open before the summer of 2027.” The company has not publicly identified a more specific cause for the delay in the reporting available.

The project has had several estimates, but they describe different things and none establishes a confirmed opening day.

- Before summer 2027: This was the company spokesperson’s aim in a Sept. 30, 2026 email quoted by MySA.
- Spring 2027: The San Antonio Express-News reported this earlier tentative opening estimate on Apr. 8, 2026.
- Dec. 18, 2026: MySA says an online state filing projected work at the property through Friday, Dec. 18, 2026. That is a reported construction-work projection, not an announced opening date.
MySA also reported an estimated project cost of roughly $1.7 million from that filing. Neither the projected work date nor the estimate explains what caused the delay or guarantees when the store will open.
Why construction is taking longer
The established explanation is limited: construction has been delayed. The latest report describes active work inside a space that still looked largely unfinished, and says three existing retail tenants are being remodeled. Company comments cited by MySA do not attribute the delay to permitting, materials, financing, contractors, or any other specific issue, so naming one would be speculation.

What is planned for the site
MySA describes the planned store as more than 60,000 square feet. Project representatives have described it as a large Asian and international grocery store with a food court; reported planned features include a fresh-made bakery, sushi, and boba tea. These are descriptions of the intended project, not confirmation that any feature is operating.

Pan-Asia says the chain began as a single Omaha storefront in 2010 and carries products from Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines. The San Antonio Express-News quoted project representative Ethan Lin describing the proposed store as “the largest Asian Supermarket in San Antonio area”; that is his characterization, not an independently verified market ranking. What to watch for next
For a dependable update, look for a new announcement from Pan-Asia or a revised location listing. Until the company gives a firm date, the early-2027 and before-summer-2027 language should be treated as targets. The latest publicly reported construction information is that crews were working inside on Oct. 8, while the project remained unfinished.
