There is no universal screw size for every Samsung 32-inch TV. Depending on the exact model, the TV-to-bracket screws may be M4, M6, or M8, with different thread pitches, VESA patterns, and safe lengths. Find the TV’s full model number and use its Samsung manual before buying replacement hardware.
For example, the Samsung UN32M5300AF specifies M4 × 0.7 screws and a 100 × 100 mm VESA pattern, while a Samsung 32-inch hospitality model specifies M8 screws and 200 × 200 mm spacing. Samsung’s broad size guide lists M6 for many 30–40-inch TVs, but that is not a model-specific guarantee.

What the screw specification includes
The correct hardware has four separate specifications:
#1 Best Overall
- Universal TV Wall Mount: TV bracket fits most 32-70" TVs up to 110 lbs, with max VESA of 400mm x 400mm / 16" x 16" mounting hole spacing, designed for standard 16" studs. If your wood stud spacing exceeds 16 inches, please refer to the 16", 18", 24" wood stud full motion TV mount MD2380-24K
- Enhance Viewing Experience: This full motion TV wall mount tilts TV up 5° and down 15° to reduce glare, and swivels TV left or right according to your seat position. Pull out to 17.5" and retract back to 3.4", making your TV alive to move
- Easy Installation: TV mount comes with clear instructions and hardware in pre-labeled bags. +/-3° post-installation adjustment allows TV leveling after installation. The paper template makes the installation of the TV wall mounting bracket easier. Considerate design for Allen key storage
- Heavy-Duty Unit: TV wall mount swivel and tilt are designed with 6 articulating arms. The technology of robot welding makes this TV mount sturdy and safe
- US-based Customer Support: We are glad to help solve your pre-purchase, installation, or missing-parts questions about TV wall mounts. Please note: Mounting Dream wall mount TV brackets are NOT FOR DRYWALL INSTALLATION. (Concrete anchors are available upon request. Anchor specifications: Φ10×50mm)
- Diameter: commonly M4, M6, or M8, depending on the model.
- Thread pitch: the distance between threads. For example, one model uses M4 × 0.7.
- Length: determined by the TV’s permitted engagement, bracket thickness, spacers, and washers.
- Quantity: usually four screws for a standard VESA installation.
An M4, M6, or M8 label describes diameter—not the screw’s length. VESA numbers describe hole spacing, not screw size.
Why 32-inch Samsung TVs use different screws
Samsung has produced 32-inch consumer, older-generation, regional, and hospitality models with different chassis designs. The same screen size can therefore have different:
- VESA hole patterns
- Thread diameters and pitches
- Threaded-hole depths
- Recessed or flush mounting holes
- Permitted screw lengths
A Samsung general support guide lists M4 for 19–22-inch TVs, M6 for many 30–40-inch TVs, and M8 for many 49–88-inch TVs, generally with a 1.25 mm pitch. Treat that as broad guidance only. The exact model manual takes priority: Samsung’s general screw guidance.
How to identify the exact TV model
Look for the model number:
- On the label on the back of the TV
- On the original box, receipt, or registration documents
- In the TV’s settings menu, where available
- In your Samsung account or registered-product records
Examples include UN32M5300AF, HG32NJ690WFXZA, and QN32.... Model suffixes can vary by country and region, so do not assume that two similar-looking model numbers use identical hardware. Enter the complete model number in Samsung Support to find the electronic manual.
Where to find the screw information in the manual
Search the manual for Wall mount, VESA, Wall Mount Kit Specifications, Standard Screw, Screw Hole Specs, Pitch, or C (mm).
| Manual field | What it means |
|---|---|
| VESA screw-hole specifications | Horizontal × vertical spacing between mounting holes, in millimeters |
| Standard screw | Required screw diameter, and sometimes the pitch |
| C (mm) | Permitted bolt length or threaded engagement inside the TV |
| Quantity | Number of screws required, normally four |
Samsung explains that the C dimension is the length of the bolt inside the TV. The thickness of the wall bracket must be added separately.

Documented examples of 32-inch Samsung TVs
Samsung UN32M5300AF: M4 × 0.7
The manual for the Samsung UN32M5300AF lists:
- VESA pattern: 100 × 100 mm
- Standard screw: M4
- Pitch: 0.7 mm
- C dimension: approximately 20.9–21.9 mm
- Quantity: four
This is a clear example of why the generic M6 answer cannot be applied to every 32-inch Samsung TV.

A separate Samsung 32-inch hospitality-TV manual lists:
- VESA pattern: 200 × 200 mm
- Standard screw: M8
- C dimension: approximately 31.3–32.3 mm
- Quantity: four
This is a hospitality model, not evidence that all consumer 32-inch TVs use M8. It does demonstrate that screen size alone is insufficient.
What VESA means—and what it does not mean
VESA is the spacing standard for the mounting holes on the back of the TV. Common Samsung patterns include 100 × 100, 200 × 100, 200 × 200, 400 × 400, and 600 × 400 mm. Samsung lists 200 × 200 mm as common for many 30–43-inch TVs, but a 32-inch TV must still be checked individually: Samsung’s VESA and wall-mount guidance.
VESA size does not identify screw diameter or length. A 100 × 100 pattern can use a different screw from another TV with the same pattern. The wall bracket must support the TV’s VESA pattern, weight, and mounting configuration.

How to calculate the correct screw length
Use the model manual’s C dimension and measure the hardware that sits between the screw head and the TV:

- Important: Watch the video and learn the”Designed for" details listed below!
- Designed for concrete, brick and wood studs wall (single stud).
- Designed for TVs up to 80 lbs (36.3 KG) and display sized 26" - 55" (66 CM - 140 CM).
- Designed for VESA sized from 3.9'' x 3.9'' through 15.7'' x 15.7''.
- Comfortable View with tilt range from +10° to -5°.
Required screw length ≈ C + bracket thickness
When spacers or washers are required:
Required screw length ≈ C + bracket thickness + spacer thickness + washer thickness
For example, a bracket that is 3 mm thick and requires a 20.9–21.9 mm C dimension needs a screw length selected to provide the specified engagement after the bracket and any spacers are included. Do not simply buy a “20 mm screw” without checking those measurements.
Samsung notes that hardware-store bolts are often sold in 5 mm increments. Washers or spacers may therefore be needed, but the final assembly must remain within the manual’s permitted range. The screw must be long enough to engage securely, yet short enough not to bottom out or contact internal components.
TV mounting screws versus wall fasteners
These are different hardware systems:
- TV-to-bracket screws: metric VESA screws selected from the TV manual.
- Wall-to-bracket fasteners: screws, bolts, or anchors selected for the wall material and the mount manufacturer’s instructions.
The correct M4, M6, or M8 TV screw does not make an unsafe wall installation safe. The wall plate must be secured to suitable studs, masonry, or another approved structure.
Should you use the screws supplied with the wall mount?
Usually, use the mount’s supplied TV hardware first, provided the mount is rated for the TV and the screws match the model’s diameter, pitch, and safe length. Samsung says compatible Samsung mounts include the necessary screws, spacers, and washers: Samsung wall-mount support.
If a kit includes several sizes, do not automatically choose the largest or longest set. Select the screws that match the TV manual. If the original hardware is missing, Samsung identifies Samsung Parts as a replacement route. Universal kits are acceptable only after you confirm the exact diameter, pitch, length, and spacer requirements.

Safe installation sequence
- Unplug the TV and place it screen-down on a protected, flat surface.
- Record the complete model number.
- Download the model’s manual from Samsung Support.
- Confirm the VESA pattern, screw diameter, pitch, C dimension, and quantity.
- Check the wall bracket’s weight rating and VESA range.
- Measure the bracket, spacers, and washers.
- Choose a screw length that stays within the manual’s permitted engagement.
- Attach the TV rails using all four mounting holes. Start each screw by hand.
- Tighten firmly but do not overtighten.
- Attach the wall plate using the wall-mount manufacturer’s fasteners for the wall type.
- Use a level and verify the wall plate is secure.
- Have a second person lift the TV onto the bracket.
- Engage the bracket’s locking or safety mechanism.
- Check stability, ventilation, cable clearance, and strain.
Samsung recommends at least 10 cm of ventilation clearance around the TV unless the model and mount instructions specify otherwise. Samsung also recommends assistance when lifting and mounting the set.
Stop installation if any of these problems occur
- The screw will not thread smoothly by hand.
- The pitch feels almost correct but the screw binds.
- The screw bottoms out before the bracket is secure.
- The screw spins without tightening.
- The screw appears long enough to contact the inside of the TV.
- The bracket holes do not align with the TV’s VESA pattern.
- The TV requires spacers but the bracket is pressing against the housing.
- The wall structure or suitable fasteners are uncertain.
Never force a close-fitting metric or imperial screw, substitute a different pitch, or use the longest screw in a mixed kit. Excessively long screws can damage the TV, and overtightening can damage the product or compromise the installation.
If you cannot determine the hardware
- Recheck the rear label for the complete model number.
- Search Samsung Support for that exact model.
- Find the wall-mount specification table in the manual.
- Contact Samsung Support or Samsung Parts if the manual is unavailable.
- Ask the wall-mount manufacturer to confirm compatibility using the exact TV model.
- Use a universal kit only after confirming diameter, pitch, length, and spacers.
- Use a professional installer for uncertain wall construction, masonry, tile, plaster, heavy sets, or difficult locations.
Curved TVs, recessed holes, adapter plates, monitors mistaken for TVs, and hospitality models may need different hardware. An adapter plate also adds thickness, so recalculate screw length before installation. Avoid locations exposed to excessive heat, including unsafe fireplace installations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Samsung 32-inch TV use an M8 screw?
Yes, some 32-inch Samsung hospitality models specify M8, but that does not apply to every 32-inch TV. Confirm the exact model manual.
Is VESA 100 × 100 the same as an M4 screw?
No. 100 × 100 mm describes mounting-hole spacing; M4 describes screw diameter. The manual must specify the screw diameter and pitch separately.
Can I use an imperial screw if the metric screw almost fits?
No. A screw that binds or feels nearly correct may have the wrong diameter or pitch. Stop and obtain the specified metric hardware.
The Bottom Line
The right screw for a Samsung 32-inch wall mount cannot be determined from screen size alone. Identify the exact model, read its VESA table, confirm diameter and pitch, and calculate length from the TV’s C dimension plus the bracket, spacer, and washer thickness. Depending on the model, the answer may be M4 × 0.7, M6, or M8.
