The familiar tune is Franz Schubert’s “The Trout” (“Die Forelle”), Samsung says. It has been used as a washer cycle-completion melody for over a decade and has become a signature sound associated with the brand. The exact arrangement and available sound settings can vary by product and region.
What is the Samsung washer song?
Samsung identifies its familiar end-of-cycle melody as Schubert’s “The Trout,” whose German title is “Die Forelle.” The company describes it as a cycle-completion sound that has been in use for over a decade and developed into a signature sound associated with Samsung. That is a qualitative duration claim, not a published start date or a study.
Samsung’s sound designer Bo Kyung Kim has described the company’s approach as treating sound as part of the customer experience and brand identity, as well as a functional alert. That helps explain why a short washer notification can be recognizable beyond its practical purpose.
Does every Samsung washer play the same version?
No. Samsung’s identification applies to the familiar melody, but it does not establish that every washer uses an identical recording or offers the same sound options.

Bespoke AI Laundry Combo
Samsung’s December 2024 announcement says the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo features a newly arranged orchestral version of “The Trout.” It also describes 11 newly added sound themes that users can select for end-of-cycle alarms, power sounds, and timer notifications. Those details are specific to that named product; they should not be assumed for other Samsung washers.
| Sound detail | What Samsung says |
|---|---|
| Familiar washer melody | Schubert’s “The Trout” (“Die Forelle”). |
| Bespoke AI Laundry Combo arrangement | A newly arranged orchestral version, according to Samsung’s 2024 product announcement. |
| Selectable sound themes | Samsung describes 11 newly added themes for the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo; availability on other models is not established by that announcement. |
Can you turn off or change the end-of-cycle sound?
It depends on the washer’s model, control panel, and country. Samsung Australia’s support guidance is for Australian products and explicitly notes that settings and model sequences vary by country and purchase location. Check the manual for your exact model and region rather than treating any button sequence as universal.

General Samsung Australia guidance
- Look for a sound icon or the button or buttons marked beneath it on the washer’s control panel.
- On some models, press and hold the relevant control for about three seconds to change the sound setting.
- On certain Simple UX panels, use the Alarm menu instead.
- If the controls do not match these descriptions, consult the washer’s model-specific manual or Samsung support for your region.
These are broad directions from Samsung Australia, not guaranteed steps for every washer. The cited guidance does not establish one universal menu path or setting name across the Samsung lineup.
