Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →In 2016, former Apple engineer Andrew (also reported as Andriy) Pletenetskyy introduced 7sensors and its Grow Box, a nearly six-foot indoor grow cabinet designed to automate plant care. The system was presented as a prototype and the company announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund production. The available reports do not establish whether it ultimately shipped.
What was the 7sensors Grow Box?
The Grow Box was a cabinet for indoor plant cultivation. TechCrunch reported that it was nearly six feet tall and could be configured through an app. Rather than requiring the grower to adjust several conditions manually, the product was designed to manage lighting, watering, temperature, humidity and airflow.
7sensors was founded by former Apple engineer Andrew Pletenetskyy, whose name also appeared in company materials as Andriy Pletenetskyy. The product was presented in 2016 after, the company said, three years of development.
How was the growing system supposed to work?
Choose a plant recipe and set conditions in the app
The described workflow was to put a seed or plant in the cabinet, choose a plant recipe in the app and let the system manage its environment. Company materials described app controls for watering periods, nutrient inputs, heat, light exposure and humidity. The reports also said the Grow Box managed airflow.

Automatic watering, with a claimed monthly refill
7sensors said the system watered plants automatically and users would need to refill its water about once a month. That refill interval was a company claim, not a separately verified operating result.
Soil growing and power use
The company described the Grow Box as using organic soil rather than a hydroponic nutrient solution, positioning that choice as a point of difference from other grow boxes. TechCrunch reported that reflectors were part of the design. In its November 2016 release, 7sensors put average power use at 100 watts and compared the system’s energy use to that of a single light bulb. This was the company’s stated average, not a published independent measurement.

- Active Dual-Fan Climate Control: VSeed seedling box features an innovative dual-fan ventilation system with dedicated intake and exhaust fans that automatically balance airflow and humidity using real-time environmental data; This active air exchange system helps maintain a stable microclimate, and supports higher germination rates and healthier seedling growth
What plants did the prototype grow?
TechCrunch reported that 7sensors had grown bell peppers and a cannabis plant while developing the product. Those were prototype results reported by the publication, not findings from an independent agronomic trial. They show what the company said it had grown, but do not establish yields, repeatability or performance across other plants.
What happened to the company and product?
In November 2016, 7sensors announced a Kickstarter campaign intended to raise money for production. The announcement followed the company’s reported three-year development effort. The available reporting does not establish whether the campaign met its goal, whether Grow Boxes were manufactured or shipped, or whether the company continued operating after that launch period.

Current availability is not established by the cited reports. They document a 2016 prototype and a planned crowdfunding campaign, but do not confirm a present-day store, active company, shipped units or ongoing support. Anyone looking for an automated indoor grow cabinet should verify a seller’s current stock, specifications, warranty and support directly rather than assume the historical product is available.

- OPEN SPACE DESIGN : Designed with a flexible growing space, this mushroom grow box is not restricted by specific grow block sizes or orientations. Grow freely—perfect for growers who want full control over their substrates and layouts.
- ULTRASONIC NANO HUMIDIFICATION : Equipped with an ultrasonic nano humidifier, the system delivers fine, even misting without over-saturation. Three adjustable humidity levels are optimized for different mushroom growth stages—from colonization to fruiting.
- ALL-DAY NATURAL AIRFLOW SIMULATION: A built-in airflow system simulates continuous, natural fresh air movement throughout the day, helping maintain balanced oxygen and CO₂ levels. This gentle, consistent airflow supports well-formed caps and stems.
- ADJUSTABLE LED GROW LIGHT: Integrated LED grow lighting offers multiple brightness and color modes tailored for indoor environments. One-touch timer ensures sufficient daily light exposure.
- BEYOND MUSHROOMS: Not just for mushrooms. This controlled environment is also suitable for cultivating select green plants and microgreens that thrive in high-humidity indoor conditions.
For a different product or a DIY setup, compare the features that determine whether it suits your space and plants:
- Automation: Check whether watering, lighting, temperature, humidity and airflow are actually automated, and which controls remain manual.
- Growing method: Confirm whether the system uses soil or hydroponics and what consumables or nutrient inputs it requires.
- Practical operation: Look for cabinet dimensions, growing area, power consumption, noise, ventilation and refill frequency.
- Evidence of availability: Confirm shipping, price, warranty and support from the maker or seller. App control alone does not show that a product is currently supported.
A full-spectrum LED grow light is one possible component of a partial DIY setup, but it does not by itself provide automated watering or climate control.
