It offers 1080p indoor monitoring, wired power, two-way audio, motion detection, and direct operation through the Google Home app. But $10 was a reported December 2025 sale price—not a permanent list price—and the camera’s cloud-only storage makes the long-term cost more complicated.
At the approximately $20 price reported in February 2026, it remains a good fit for casual indoor monitoring in a Google Home household. It is not a substitute for an outdoor camera, a local-storage system, or mission-critical security equipment.

What is the Onn Indoor Wired Camera?
The Onn Indoor Wired Camera is Walmart’s compact indoor security camera designed to work with Google Home. The published hands-on coverage describes it as a 1080p camera managed through the Google Home app, without requiring a separate Onn camera application.
The package reportedly includes:
- The camera
- A USB-C power cable
- A USB-A power adapter
- A quick-start manual
- An optional wall mount and screws
It is an indoor-only, wired camera. It needs a nearby outlet and cannot operate as a battery camera. The available hands-on report also describes motion detection, live viewing, two-way audio, and cloud-based event history. Night-vision specifications should be confirmed on the current Walmart listing before purchase.
#1 Best Overall
- Meet the smarter, sharper wired Google Nest Cam Indoor; with 2K HDR video and Gemini, it knows what to look out for and what to do next[1,2,3](Gemini features require a Google Home premium subscription; try it for 1 month at no cost to you)[4]
- With an Advanced subscription to Google Home Premium, know more about what’s happening with notifications like “Kids are playing soccer in the living room”[3]; and get even more detailed descriptions and tap to see a summary of what happened[3]
- Google Nest Cam Indoor keeps your data safe with encrypted video, two-step verification, and enhanced security through your Google Account; and a green LED light lets you know when it’s processing or streaming video
- Video is crisp and clear in 2K HDR, Nest Cam’s highest resolution yet[1,2]; see rich color and details, and see in the dark with night vision; and with a wider, taller field of view, you can see even more of a long hallway or large room[1]
- Search your video history with help from Gemini[3]; try something like “What happened to the vase in the living room?” to see a summary and relevant clips (subscription required)
9to5Google’s hands-on report found the image quality surprisingly good for the price, while noting that 1080p is intended more for checking a room than capturing maximum detail at a distance.
The $10 price was real—but it was a sale price
| Date or context | Reported price | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Launch period in 2025 | About $22.88–$23 | Reported original price |
| December 1, 2025 sale | $10 | Temporary sale price |
| February 3, 2026 | About $19.87 | Reported apparent regular-price reduction |
The original report documented the $10 promotion. A later February 2026 report said Walmart appeared to have reduced the regular price to approximately $19.87.
The current checkout price should be checked directly on Walmart’s search page. The available research does not independently verify a live price for September 2026, so the camera should not be described as a permanently $10 product.

Why Google Home integration is the main selling point
The appeal is not just that the camera is compatible with Google Home. Setup and operation are handled through the Google Home experience, which makes it particularly convenient for households already using Nest speakers, displays, or cameras.

- Meet the smarter, sharper wired Google Nest Cam Outdoor; with 2K HDR video and Gemini, it knows what to look out for and what to do next[1,2,3](Gemini features require a Google Home premium subscription; try it for 1 month at no cost to you)[4]

That means a Google Home user can:
- Keep smart-home devices in one app
- View the camera alongside other compatible devices
- Avoid learning a separate camera ecosystem
- Potentially include the camera within an existing Google Home Premium subscription
However, “works with Google Home” does not mean the Onn camera has every feature of a Nest Cam. It should not be assumed to offer Nest-level hardware, local recording, outdoor durability, or identical intelligent-alert features.
The biggest catch: cloud storage
The camera’s most important limitation is its storage model. The published coverage did not identify local microSD, NAS, or other on-device storage. Recorded footage is therefore dependent on Google’s cloud services and your Google account.
The reports describe approximately three hours of free event-based video history. Longer or more extensive cloud history requires a Google Home Premium subscription. The reported Standard plan was $10 per month or $100 per year, although pricing and eligibility should be confirmed on Google’s current Google Home Premium page. Google also explains the distinction between event previews and subscription-based history in its support documentation.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
This changes the economics considerably. A $10-per-month subscription costs $120 per year—far more than the $10 hardware price. The camera remains inexpensive if you only need live viewing and short-term event access, but it is not a one-time-cost surveillance system.

- Nest Cam has built-in intelligence and can tell the difference between a person, animal, and vehicle and send alerts directly through the Google Home app[1], no subscription required.Controller Type:Google Assistant.Connectivity protocol:Bluetooth;Wi-Fi.Power source type:Battery Powered.Operating Temperature : –4°F to 104°F (–20°C to 40°C).
- Easily check in from anywhere 24/7 with 1080p HDR video[1] with night vision, and see what you missed with 3 hours of free event video history[2]; add a Nest Aware subscription (sold separately) for up to 60 days of video history[3]
- If your Wi-Fi goes down or there’s a power outage, Nest Cam will store up to an hour of recorded events so you can see what you missed[4]. Nest Cam Outdoor comes with a wall plate that can be mounted on your brick wall.
- Put Nest Cam anywhere, outside or in; it’s battery powered, so you don’t need to set it up near an outlet, and the magnetic mount makes installation effortless
- For continuous power and 24/7 video recording with Nest Aware Plus, add a weatherproof power cable or indoor stand with power cable (both sold separately)
Cloud dependence also means that internet outages, account-access problems, service interruptions, or a canceled subscription can limit access to recorded footage.
Setup and everyday use
The hands-on account describes setup through Google Home as taking only a few minutes, with a process broadly similar to setting up a Nest Cam. A firmware update may be required.
- Plug in the camera.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Wait for the camera detection or setup prompt.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Assign the camera to the correct home and room.
- Install any available firmware update.
- Test live video, audio, alerts, and placement.
Google Home menu labels can change, so the exact prompts may differ by app version. Before relying on the camera, confirm that live video and notifications work from the intended location.
What it does well
- Very low hardware cost: The $10 sale price was exceptional, and the later reported price near $20 is still inexpensive.
- Simple ecosystem fit: Google Home households can manage it alongside compatible smart-home devices.
- Adequate resolution: 1080p is generally suitable for checking a living room, hallway, pet area, nursery, or small office.
- Wired operation: It avoids battery charging and is well suited to a fixed indoor position near an outlet.
- Two-way communication: The reported feature set supports speaking through the camera.
What it does not do
- It is not an outdoor camera. Do not use it on exposed porches, driveways, yards, or rain-prone areas.
- It is not battery powered. Placement is limited by the power cable and nearby outlet.
- It does not replace local storage. No local recording option was reported.
- It is not a high-detail camera. 1080p may be insufficient for identifying distant faces, reading license plates, or heavily cropping footage.
- It is not a complete security system. It should not be the sole protection for high-value property, medical monitoring, or other mission-critical use.
A visible cable can also be inconvenient around children and pets. If uninterrupted operation matters during a power outage, the camera would need suitable backup power such as an appropriately sized UPS.

Network compatibility warning
The hands-on report identified an important compatibility issue: the camera did not work for one tester on Ubiquiti networking equipment but did work on a Nest Wi-Fi setup. This does not prove that the camera is universally incompatible with Ubiquiti, but it is a reason for technically complex households to proceed cautiously.
VLANs, client isolation, enterprise access points, custom DNS, and restrictive firewall rules can complicate smart-home setup. If you use advanced networking equipment, test one camera before buying several. For troubleshooting, try a standard home Wi-Fi network and review isolation or firewall settings where appropriate. No router change is guaranteed to resolve every compatibility problem.
Who should buy it?
The Onn camera makes the most sense for:
- Existing Google Home users
- Renters who want an inexpensive removable indoor camera
- People monitoring a pet, child, hallway, living room, or small office
- Buyers who want basic live video and motion events rather than long-term archives
- Shoppers who find it near $10–$20 and accept cloud storage
At $10, it is especially attractive for a non-critical room where replacing the camera would not be a major loss.
Who should skip it?
Choose another type of camera if you need:
- Outdoor or weather-resistant operation
- Battery power
- MicroSD, NAS, or self-hosted recording
- Continuous recording without a premium cloud subscription
- More than 1080p detail
- Strong privacy controls with minimal cloud dependence
- Predictable operation on a complex enterprise-style network
Alternatives worth considering
Google Nest Cam Indoor, wired, third generation
The third-generation Google Nest Cam Indoor is substantially more expensive, but Google lists higher-end specifications including 2K HDR video and a 152-degree diagonal field of view. It is the better choice when image detail, field of view, and first-party Google hardware justify the additional cost.

It is excessive for someone who simply wants to check whether a pet is in a room, and advanced history features may still involve Google’s cloud services.
Newer Onn outdoor and floodlight cameras
Readers who like the Onn and Google Home combination but need exterior coverage can investigate Walmart’s newer outdoor and floodlight models. Secondary reports placed the outdoor wired camera at about $35 and the floodlight camera at about $77: outdoor camera report and floodlight camera report. Confirm current specifications, weather ratings, and prices before purchasing.
Local-storage alternatives
Wyze and other budget-camera brands are common alternatives for buyers who prioritize local-storage options. Current model features, prices, and Google Home compatibility vary, so those details should be checked on the manufacturer’s official product page rather than assumed from the brand name.
Bottom line
The Onn Indoor Wired Camera was a no-brainer at $10 for the right buyer: someone wanting a basic, wired, indoor 1080p camera that fits into an existing Google Home setup. At around $20, it is still affordable, but the lack of reported local storage and the potential cost of Google Home Premium make it less compelling for privacy-focused buyers or anyone seeking a one-time purchase.
