But those performance figures are manufacturer claims, not independently established results for typical household use. Reviews also raise a model-version question: the original Shelfy and Shelfy 2 should not be treated as identical.
What is Vitesy Shelfy?
Vitesy describes Shelfy as a rechargeable device that sits inside a refrigerator. A fan draws fridge air through a photocatalytic filter; the company says the system decomposes organic pollutants. Its stated features include Eco, Crisper and Performance modes, a temperature sensor, recognition of door openings, and app and voice-assistant compatibility. These specifications come from Vitesy’s technical sheet; they should not automatically be assumed to apply unchanged to every revised model.
The manual lists the unit as 114 × 67.4 × 167 mm and 560 g (1.2 lb), with a USB-A/USB-C charging cable included. It specifies a 3.6 V nominal battery rated at 10.4 Ah and 37.44 Wh. How well does it keep food fresh?
Vitesy’s technical sheet claims Shelfy can kill up to 97.5% of airborne bacteria in 10 minutes, reduce up to 80% of lingering odors such as fish and cheese smells, and help delay wilting and rot in fruit and vegetables. The company FAQ says it can extend food life by up to 12 extra days. The available independent reviews do not establish those headline outcomes in a controlled test of ordinary household use. That does not prove Shelfy has no effect; it means there is not enough independent evidence here to confidently promise longer-lasting groceries or quantify the benefit. The evidence also does not establish that Shelfy outperforms baking soda, charcoal absorbers or other fridge treatments in a head-to-head comparison.
Original Shelfy or Shelfy 2?
Version matters when assessing specifications and review findings. WIRED reviewed Shelfy 2, rated it 6/10, and said a test report supplied to its reviewer applied to the 2022 model—not necessarily the newer unit. Tom’s Guide reported in 2025 that the updated device used a blue LED and had battery-management and charging changes. That is secondary, version-specific reporting; it does not settle every technical difference between the original and Shelfy 2. Tom’s Guide on Shelfy 2
Before buying, check the product name and model shown by the retailer. Do not assume a review, test result, manual specification or older listing describes the exact unit currently for sale.

What upkeep does Shelfy require?
Vitesy’s documented upkeep is mainly washing the filter and recharging the device. The manual says to rinse the filter and let it dry; the external shell can be wiped with a damp cloth, keeping electrical components dry. The filter is washable, and the cited documentation does not establish a routine replacement-filter requirement. Vitesy’s manual
Vitesy says battery life can reach up to three weeks depending on mode, rather than promising that interval in every setting. The manual lists an included USB-A/USB-C cable. Charging specifications in that manual are 5.0 V nominal, 5.5 V maximum and 2.5 A maximum; check the documentation supplied with the specific model for its instructions. Technical sheet; Manual

Price and buying considerations
WIRED reported a $150 Amazon listing for Shelfy 2 and the original Shelfy, but that is a reported listing price, not a current price check. Tom’s Guide has also reported different prices at earlier publication dates. Shelfy is most relevant if you want a powered device that combines air treatment with fridge monitoring and are comfortable judging its freshness benefit for yourself.
