Vitamix Blender Recall: Which Ascent and Venturist Containers Are Affected

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Yes, there is a real Vitamix recall—but it does not cover every Vitamix blender. The U.S. recall announced June 20, 2024 affects certain Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce blending bowls, 20-ounce blending cups, and their black blade bases. The container can separate from the blade base and expose sharp blades, creating a laceration hazard.

If you have one of these accessories, stop using it immediately and request Vitamix’s official repair kit through the Vitamix recall page.

Is the whole Vitamix blender recalled?

No. Recall No. 24-276 is focused on specific small containers and their blade bases—not the entire blender system. The notice does not identify the motor base as the recalled component.

That means owning an Ascent A2300, A2500, A3300, A3500, or Venturist V1200 does not automatically mean your complete blender is recalled. One of those blenders may, however, have been sold with an affected accessory.

Vitamix 64 oz. Classic Blender Container, BPA-Free Tritan | Does Not Work with Ascent, Ascent X or Venturist Blenders, Laser-Cut Stainless-Steel Blades, Tamper Included, Easy-Pour Spout
  • The size and shape of the 64-ounce container is ideal for blending medium to large batches.
  • This container can be used with all full-size Classic C-Series Vitamix blenders only (Ascent and Venturist Series are not compatible).
  • Every angle of the Vitamix container is designed to create our uniquely controlled vortex, systematically folding ingredients back to the blades for faster, smoother blends.
  • Every Vitamix container is clearly marked with ounce and cup measurements. Even the lid plug has a 2-ounce measurement line.
  • The vented lid and lid plug let you bring dishes to hot serving temperatures right in the container, or add ingredients while blending to adjust texture.

Quick check: could your accessory be affected?

  • Is it an Ascent or Venturist Series accessory?
  • Is it an 8-ounce bowl or 20-ounce cup?
  • Is the container clear and paired with a black blade base bearing the Vitamix logo?
  • Was it purchased separately, in a bundle, or with a V1200, A2300, A2500, A3300, or A3500?
  • Did you receive a repair during the 2018 recall?

Use the official Vitamix recall page for the current identification and remedy process. Do not rely only on the motor base’s serial number: this recall is accessory-specific.

Which Vitamix products are affected?

Product Recall status
Ascent 8-ounce blending bowl Affected under the 2024 notice
Ascent 20-ounce blending cup Affected under the 2024 notice
Venturist 8-ounce blending bowl Affected under the 2024 notice
Venturist 20-ounce blending cup Affected under the 2024 notice
Corresponding black blade bases Affected under the 2024 notice
Motor bases Not identified as the recalled component in this notice
Large containers Not included in this specific 2024 recall

The accessories were sold separately and in sets or bundles. They were reportedly sold in the United States from April 2017 through May 2024 through retailers including Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macy’s, Target, Williams Sonoma, Walmart, Vitamix.com, Amazon, and QVC. A retailer or purchase date alone does not establish whether a particular accessory is recalled.

What is the safety hazard?

The container may separate from its blade base. If that happens, the blades can become exposed while someone is handling the assembly. The official hazard is a laceration risk—not an explosion, fire, electrical, contamination, or overheating warning.

The CPSC notice reported approximately 569,000 affected U.S. units and 121,950 units in Canada. Vitamix reported 27 laceration incidents, including 11 associated with the earlier recall. These figures come from the CPSC recall notice.

What owners should do now

  1. Stop using the affected 8-ounce or 20-ounce accessory immediately. Do not blend with it while waiting for a response or repair kit.
  2. Avoid handling the blade assembly unnecessarily. Keep it away from children and place it where it cannot be accidentally used.
  3. Go to Vitamix’s official recall page and follow the current instructions.
  4. Request the official repair kit. Have the container, blade base, blender model, purchase information, or serial details available if requested.
  5. Install the kit only according to Vitamix’s instructions. Do not test the accessory by blending before the remedy is properly completed.

What is the recall remedy?

The announced remedy is a Vitamix repair kit consisting of a protective plastic shroud that attaches over the blade base, along with additional instructional labels. The notice does not promise a cash refund, a replacement blender, or automatic replacement of the entire container.

Confirm current availability and instructions directly with Vitamix. The 2024 CPSC notice listed U.S. assistance at 855-215-5178, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Time, but phone hours and website procedures can change.

Already received the 2018 repair?

Check the accessory again. The 2024 expanded recall expressly includes containers and blade bases that received the earlier August 2018 remedy. The previous repair should not be treated as proof that the accessory is excluded from the newer notice.

For comparison, the earlier notice is available from the CPSC.

What if you only have a large container?

A 64-ounce container is not included in this particular 2024 Ascent/Venturist small-container recall. If your setup consists only of a motor base and a 64-ounce container, do not discard the blender based on this notice alone. Identify the specific container and blade base, then confirm with Vitamix.

Vitamix has had separate recalls involving other designs. For example, a 2013 CPSC recall involved certain 64-ounce low-profile containers with blade part number 103208 A and date codes from 03-12 through 07-13. That was a different recall involving a different reported hazard. See the 2013 CPSC notice.

Can you buy a replacement blade base or aftermarket cup?

Do not use an unverified aftermarket blade base as a substitute for the official recall remedy. Compatibility varies across Vitamix systems. Ascent accessories use SELF-DETECT technology, and older C-, G-, and S-Series containers are not automatically compatible with Ascent bases.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you need a different container for ordinary use, confirm compatibility with Vitamix first. A replacement container is not the same as completing the recall remedy.

What if you bought the Vitamix used?

The safety issue concerns the product, not just its original purchaser. A secondhand owner should use the official recall channel and provide whatever information is available, such as photographs, model details, accessory size, serial information, or proof of a previous repair. Do not continue using an uncertain small container merely because you did not buy it new.

What if the repair kit does not arrive?

Keep the accessory out of service. Contact Vitamix again through its official recall channel, document the date and method of your request, and retain any confirmation number or correspondence. If the remedy is unavailable or does not resolve the issue, use the recall-remedy complaint route identified in the CPSC notice.

U.S. and international owners

The instructions above describe the U.S. recall and CPSC process. Owners in Canada, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere should use the Vitamix site and product-safety authority for their country because contact details, registration requirements, and remedies may differ.

For example, the United Kingdom issued a separate 2024 product-safety notice concerning certain 225-ml and 600-ml containers in an A3500i Ascent Series blender set. See the UK government notice rather than applying the U.S. procedure automatically.

Do you need to replace the entire blender?

Usually, not solely because a recalled small accessory is included. The announced remedy targets the accessory and blade base, while the motor base is not identified as the recalled component in the 2024 notice.

Contact Vitamix before buying a new blender. Its service center can advise on separate motor-base problems, compatibility, and repair options. A new or reconditioned blender may make sense if your motor base has an independent defect or you need a different system, but it is not the first response to this recall.

Bottom line

The verified U.S. warning is a June 20, 2024 recall—not evidence of a newly announced 2026 recall. Stop using affected Ascent or Venturist 8-ounce and 20-ounce containers and blade bases, including units repaired in 2018, and request Vitamix’s official protective-shroud repair kit. Do not assume the whole blender is recalled or buy a replacement motor base without first identifying the accessory.
