Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesUsually, you cannot unregister a Blink camera from its cloud account without access to the Blink account that owns it. The normal solution is for the registered owner to delete the camera, system, or Sync Module from the Blink app. If the owner is locked out, they must recover the account or contact Blink Support. A factory reset, battery removal, Wi-Fi change, or app uninstall is not a reliable substitute for account deregistration.
What “unregister” means
With Blink, several different actions can be confused:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Delete a camera: Removes one camera from the current Blink account.
- Delete a system or Sync Module: Removes the associated hardware when transferring a complete setup.
- Delete the Blink account: Removes the account, connected devices, and cloud-stored clips.
- Remove mobile access: Logs a phone or tablet out without removing the camera from the account.
Blink’s documented transfer process requires the existing account owner to remove the hardware before another person registers it. See Blink’s guidance for selling or gifting hardware.
If you own the account and can sign in
Delete an online camera
- Open the Blink app and go to the Home screen.
- Tap the More button (…) on the camera thumbnail.
- Tap Device Settings.
- Choose General Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Delete Device.
- Confirm by tapping Delete Device again.
Delete an offline camera
- Tap the Camera Offline notification.
- Tap Delete at the bottom of the screen.
- Confirm with Delete Device.
Blink says it sends a confirmation email containing the camera name and serial number. After deletion, follow Blink’s re-addition guidance by removing the batteries or unplugging the camera for at least 15 seconds before another setup attempt. App labels can vary by version.
#1 Best Overall
- Outdoor 4 is our most affordable wireless smart security camera yet, offering up to two-year battery life for around-the-clock peace of mind. Local storage not included with Sync Module Core.
- See and speak from the Blink app — Experience 1080p HD live view, infrared night vision, and crisp two-way audio.
- Two-year battery life — Set up in minutes and get up to two years of power with the included AA Energizer lithium batteries and a Blink Sync Module Core.
- Enhanced motion detection — Be alerted to motion faster from your smartphone with dual-zone, enhanced motion detection.
- Person detection — Get alerts when a person is detected with embedded computer vision (CV) as part of an optional Blink Subscription Plan (sold separately).
These steps remove the camera without deleting the rest of your Blink account. If you are transferring a multi-camera setup, open Settings → Device and System Settings, select the relevant system, and review the available controls for removing the system or Sync Module. The exact final labels may differ in the current app.
Before selling or gifting a Blink camera
- Download or save any clips you want to keep.
- Identify the correct camera and record its serial number.
- Delete the camera from your Blink account.
- If applicable, remove the associated system and Sync Module as part of the transfer.
- Wait for the deletion confirmation email.
- Remove the batteries or disconnect power before handing over the hardware.
Do not give the recipient your Blink password. Removing the device from your account is preferable to transferring your account itself. Deleting the Blink app alone does not unregister anything.
If you bought a used Blink camera
The message “Serial already registered” generally means the camera is still associated with another Blink account or system. Blink’s official troubleshooting guidance says the original owner must delete it before it can be added to a new account.

Please open your Blink app, delete this camera from Device Settings, and confirm that its serial number is no longer associated with your account. A factory reset alone may not release it for registration.
Changing Wi-Fi, replacing batteries, resetting the hardware, or installing the Blink app does not automatically transfer ownership. Keep the receipt, seller messages, serial number, and a screenshot of the error. If the seller cannot or will not remove the device, request a refund or use the marketplace’s dispute process.
If you cannot sign in to the owner account
- Confirm that you are using the correct email address.
- Use Forgot Password in the Blink sign-in flow.
- Check spam, trash, promotions folders, SMS filtering, and carrier blocking for verification messages.
- Try signing in from another supported phone or tablet.
- If recovery still fails, contact Blink Technical Support.
Have the camera or Sync Module serial number available. Blink may request it when helping with invalid credentials or account access. Support may require ownership verification, and the published guidance does not guarantee that Support will override an uncooperative former owner’s registration.
If the former owner is unavailable
For a camera left by a previous homeowner or purchased from an unreachable seller, contact Blink Support with the serial number, proof of purchase or transfer, and relevant account information. Do not assume that merely finding hardware at a property proves account ownership. Blink may be unable to release the device without sufficient verification.

- Outdoor 4 is our fourth-generation wireless smart security camera with up to two-year battery life for around-the-clock peace of mind.

- Two-year battery life — Set up in minutes and get up to two years of power with the included AA Energizer lithium batteries and a Blink Sync Module (sold separately).

Until the registration issue is resolved, do not deploy the camera in a private area. A former owner may still have account access, and a camera left behind should be treated as a privacy and security concern. If Blink cannot verify ownership or release the device, a return, refund, or replacement is the practical outcome.
Factory reset versus unregistering
| Action | Changes local settings? | Removes the account association? | Deletes cloud clips? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove batteries or unplug | No meaningful account change | No | No |
| Factory reset | Usually resets device configuration | Not established as sufficient | No |
| Delete the camera in the app | Removes it from the account | Yes | Not necessarily all account clips |
| Delete the entire account | Removes connected devices | Yes | Yes, permanently for cloud-stored clips |
Reset procedures vary by Blink model, so do not apply a generic reset-button instruction without checking the model-specific documentation. A local hardware reset should not be treated as proof that the online registration has been cleared.

No. Delete only the camera when transferring one device. Delete a system or Sync Module when transferring a complete setup. Delete the entire account only when you intend to remove everything.

Blink’s documented account-deletion path is Settings → Account and Privacy → Account Management → Delete Account. Confirm the deletion, enter the account password, and tap DELETE. Blink states that this permanently erases cloud-stored clips, removes connected devices, and cannot be undone or restored by Blink Support. Review Blink’s account-deletion instructions before proceeding.

If you only want to block another phone
If the camera should remain on your account but another person’s phone must lose access, use Settings → Account and Privacy → Manage Mobile Devices. Blink’s feature shows devices that accessed the account during the last 30 days and lets the primary account owner remove their access.
This logs out the selected phone; it does not deregister or transfer a camera. Changing the account password can also reset trusted-device access, after which previously authorized devices generally need to authenticate again. See Blink’s account-access device guidance.
Can you use Blink without an Amazon account?
Blink’s cited setup guide allows Amazon-account linking to be skipped during setup. That does not mean a Blink account is unnecessary: the camera still needs to be registered through the Blink service. Amazon-account linking and removing a camera from a Blink account are separate issues. See the Blink setup guide.

What not to do
- Do not assume a factory reset clears cloud registration.
- Do not uninstall the app and expect the account to disappear.
- Do not delete the entire account when one camera is being transferred.
- Do not assume changing Wi-Fi or unlinking an Amazon account transfers ownership.
- Do not pay an unofficial “unlock” service without verified official support for the claim.
- Do not use another person’s credentials to bypass registration.
