Top 5 Wireless Doorbell Cameras With No Monthly Fees (2026)

The TP-Link Tapo D225 is the best overall wireless doorbell camera with no required monthly fee. It combines battery or hardwired installation, 2K video, a useful head-to-toe view, local microSD recording, free on-device detection, and an included indoor chime. The Reolink Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) is the better choice if long battery intervals matter most, while Blink’s Battery Doorbell 2K+ is attractive for Alexa households on a budget.

Here, “wireless” means battery-capable or wire-free installation—not merely Wi-Fi connectivity. “No monthly fees” means the doorbell can provide core alerts, live viewing, and replayable recordings without a mandatory subscription. Local storage hardware, such as a microSD card, hub, or USB drive, may still cost extra.

Prices and availability change quickly. The Tapo D225 was listed at $109.99 on TP-Link’s U.S. store when checked in August 2026; another official listing showed a $99.99 sale price but was sold out. Reolink showed a $127.49 sale price against a $149.99 list price during the same period. Treat these as dated price signals, not guaranteed prices.

1. TP-Link Tapo D225: best overall

The Tapo D225 offers the most complete combination of features for buyers who want useful recordings without paying every month. It has 2K 4MP video, person, pet, vehicle, and package detection, up to four seconds of pre-roll, an included indoor chime, and battery or hardwired installation.

#1 Best Overall
BOIFUN Video Doorbell Camera Wireless – No Subscription Required, 2K HD
  • Wide 166° Field Of View For Video Doorbell & f/2.5 Aperture: Covers your front porch with no blind spots; CMOS sensor and f/2.5 aperture deliver moderate depth of field with soft background blur and crisp facial details for fast visitor recognition
  • Reliable 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi & 1.2T AI Chip With Fast, Stable Response: This wireless video doorbell supports only 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi for improved signal penetration and range; high‑speed AI chip processes thousands of operations per second for instant alerts and enhanced security
  • No Subscription Required & Full Access to Essential Features With Zero Hidden Costs: Get real-time alerts, two-way audio, human detection, and video playback with this doorbell camera, with no subscription required; all essential features stay free, optional subscription plans are available for advanced services such as cloud storage and enhanced AI event classification
  • HDR Night Vision With Invisible 940 nm Infrared: HDR tech and high-sensitivity sensor in this doorbell camera adjust to all lighting conditions; invisible 940 nm IR fill light offers clear night vision up to 10 meters without red glow for discreet, around-the-clock security
  • Battery Life & Usage Tips for Your Doorbell Camera: In laboratory conditions, the battery lasts up to 60 days with 30 daily motion activations and 10-second video recordings; actual performance may vary based on usage and environment; extend battery life by adjusting motion sensitivity, narrowing detection zones, or avoiding high-traffic areas. (Powered by a built-in, non-removable rechargeable battery for wire-free operation.)

Its 180-degree diagonal field of view and 4:3 framing are particularly useful at a front door. A conventional wide but short 16:9 image may show a visitor’s face while cutting off a package at the threshold. Tapo’s head-to-toe framing is designed to cover both.

What works without a subscription

With a compatible microSD card installed, the D225 supports local recording and replay without Tapo Care. Tapo advertises free on-device detection for people, pets, vehicles, and packages. Cloud storage is an optional Tapo Care service, not a requirement for the local-storage setup.

Power, chime, and limitations

TP-Link estimates up to eight months of battery life, but that is a manufacturer estimate. Frequent motion, live viewing, weak Wi-Fi, cold weather, and spotlight use can shorten it. Hardwiring enables 24/7 recording; the D225 should not be treated as a fully battery-powered continuous recorder. It includes a separate indoor chime, so “chime included” does not necessarily mean compatibility with the existing mechanical chime.

The D225 uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, is rated IP66 for weather resistance, and supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Its built-in spotlights provide full-color night vision, although illumination can increase battery use and may be unwanted in a low-profile installation.

Choose it if: you want the best balance of local recording, detection, package visibility, and installation flexibility.

Skip it if: you need 5GHz Wi-Fi or true battery-powered 24/7 recording.

2. Reolink Video Doorbell (2nd Gen): longest claimed battery life

The battery-capable Reolink Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) is a strong option for buyers who want fewer charging intervals. Reolink claims up to 300 days of battery life, along with 2K 4MP video, a head-to-toe view, person, vehicle, animal, and package detection, and no required monthly subscription.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That 300-day figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified ownership result. Traffic at the door, live-view use, temperature, Wi-Fi quality, motion settings, and recording behavior all affect battery life.

Check the exact model before buying

Reolink’s catalog also contains wired Wi-Fi and PoE doorbells. Do not assume every product named “Video Doorbell” is battery-powered. Confirm that the listing says battery or wireless/battery and check the included accessories.

Local-storage support varies by model and bundle. A Home Hub Mini bundle was listed at $204.99 and supports up to 1TB of microSD storage according to Reolink’s U.S. store page, but the minimum storage hardware for another package may differ. The complete purchase is therefore the doorbell plus any required card, hub, or chime—not necessarily the headline doorbell price.

Skip it if: you are unwilling to verify the exact battery model and storage bundle.

3. eufy Video Doorbell C31: best for an existing eufy ecosystem

The battery-powered eufy Video Doorbell C31 provides 2K video and is a sensible choice for households already using eufy cameras or HomeBase equipment. Consumer Reports describes it as a relatively inexpensive battery doorbell with above-average video quality in its testing.

The important qualification is storage. The C31 can use optional eufy cloud storage, while local storage may involve an optional HomeBase S380. Consumer Reports’ summary says the HomeBase can support up to 16TB, but the doorbell-only retail package may not include that hardware. Check the exact U.S. bundle before assuming local recording is ready on day one.

The C31 is better suited to event recording than continuous recording because it is battery-powered. It also makes the most sense when consolidating devices in the eufy app is valuable enough to justify the ecosystem’s additional hardware.

Choose it if: you already own eufy equipment or want a battery 2K doorbell within that ecosystem.

Skip it if: you want a self-contained doorbell with a built-in microSD slot and no hub considerations.

4. Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+: best budget and Alexa option

The Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ records square 1920×1920 video with a 140-degree field of view. It runs on three Energizer AA 1.5V lithium non-rechargeable batteries, supports battery or wired installation, and integrates with Alexa.

The local-recording cost is easy to miss

The 2K+ requires a Sync Module. Subscription-free local recording additionally requires a Sync Module 2 and a compatible USB flash drive. The doorbell itself cannot store clips. That makes Blink less convenient than a model with a microSD slot, even if the initial doorbell price looks attractive.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Blink advertises up to two years of battery life under specified conditions, but actual results depend on activity, settings, weather, and live viewing. When wired, the standard Blink Video Doorbell continues to use its AA batteries, although wiring can extend battery life; hardwiring does not automatically mean continuous external power.

Arlo Video Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen) Wireless or Wired - 1-Cam
  • Video Doorbell Camera for Complete Front Door and Entryway Protection: Monitor your front door with 2K video, person recognition, package detection, two-way audio, and IP65 weather resistance. Wired or wireless installation options.
  • Arlo Secure Early Warning System Unlocks Advanced Features: Get 60-day video history, AI detection, and emergency response. A paid plan is required after trial. Live streaming and basic alerts work without a subscription.
  • Smart Alerts That Keep You Informed: Get notifications for package and pet detection, along with person and vehicle recognition. Intelligent detection helps reduce false alerts and keeps you connected wherever you are.
  • Only Get Alerts That Matter: Set custom activity zones to monitor areas like your front door and pathway, and use privacy zones to block sensitive spaces while reducing unnecessary motion alerts for more meaningful notifications.
  • Flexible Power for Easy Installation: Choose a wire-free setup with a rechargeable doorbell or hardwire to existing wiring for trickle charging and uninterrupted security.

A compatible existing mechanical chime can work when the doorbell is wired. Blink specifies 16–24V AC wiring. Alternatively, a Blink Chime, Blink Mini, or compatible Alexa device can provide an indoor alert. Without a Sync Module, live view and two-way audio are restricted to tapping a recent notification within the applicable response window.

Blink’s support documentation specifies a 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n network and at least 2Mbps upload speed. Wi-Fi is required for notifications and motion recording.

Choose it if: you already use Alexa and accept buying the Sync Module 2 and USB storage.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Skip it if: you want standalone local storage, broad Apple/Google compatibility, or the fewest required components.

5. Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G410: conditional smart-home pick

The Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G410 belongs on this shortlist as a conditional option for buyers who prioritize smart-home integration. Its suitability depends on the exact current U.S. model, firmware, availability, battery configuration, included chime or hub, and local-storage method.

Those details can vary by region and bundle, so verify them on Aqara’s U.S. product pages before purchasing. Do not assume that a listing supports a particular platform, local recording method, facial-recognition feature, or Matter function unless the current U.S. documentation says so.

Choose it if: the current model supports your smart-home platform and you accept more setup complexity.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Skip it if: you want the clearest storage requirements and simplest installation.

What “no monthly fees” really means

These phrases are not interchangeable:

  • No mandatory subscription: core operation works without a recurring payment.
  • Free local recording: clips are saved to hardware you own, such as a microSD card, USB drive, hub, or NVR.
  • Free cloud recording: clips are stored on the vendor’s servers at no charge, usually with limits on retention, resolution, or features.
  • Free basic use: live view and alerts are free, but recorded history, advanced detection, rich notifications, or cloud backup may require a plan.

A no-fee setup may still require an account, internet connection, storage media, a proprietary module, or a separate indoor chime. It also does not mean that the system has no cloud involvement: push notifications, remote viewing, account data, thumbnails, telemetry, and optional backups may still pass through the manufacturer’s servers.

How to choose the right model

Start with the complete purchase

Calculate doorbell + required hub or module + storage media + chime or mount. Tapo needs a separately purchased microSD card for local recording. Blink needs a Sync Module 2 and USB drive. eufy and some Reolink configurations may require a HomeBase or hub. Aqara’s current bundle must be checked.

  • Easily recharge — Simply insert the included removal tool to detach your doorbell from the wall, then recharge the built-in battery via USB-C. (Cable not included.)

Battery life is a claim, not a guarantee

Manufacturers’ “up to” figures are not directly comparable. A busy sidewalk, frequent live views, poor signal, cold weather, high sensitivity, long clips, high resolution, and pre-roll can substantially reduce runtime. Install the doorbell where it can be removed easily for charging, and check whether its battery is removable or replaceable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Understand what happens when the battery dies

Once the battery is depleted, camera recording and motion alerts stop. The physical button may still provide a basic chime on some installations, but do not rely on that behavior without checking the model. A battery doorbell connected to wiring may extend runtime rather than become continuously powered. Ordinary battery operation generally cannot support 24/7 recording.

Check the package view, not just resolution

Resolution does not tell you whether a parcel will appear at the bottom of the frame. Compare aspect ratio, vertical field of view, mounting height, and whether a wedge or corner mount is needed. The Tapo D225’s 4:3 head-to-toe framing is a notable advantage for close visitors and packages.

Compare night performance

Infrared night vision produces black-and-white footage. Full-color night vision generally uses visible spotlights, which can improve detail but consume more battery and attract attention. HDR or wide dynamic range can help with a bright porch behind a visitor, while reflective surfaces and strong backlighting can still reduce useful detail.

Inspect the chime and wiring

“Chime included” usually means a plug-in wireless chime, not compatibility with your existing indoor unit. Older, digital, proprietary, or low-voltage systems may need a replacement chime or transformer. Photograph the existing wiring and identify the transformer voltage before removing the old doorbell. For Blink, compatible wired chime installation uses 16–24V AC according to its support documentation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Plan for Wi-Fi and outages

Check signal strength at the actual mounting location, not beside the router. Masonry, metal siding, distance, congested 2.4GHz networks, and poorly placed mesh nodes can cause missed alerts and slow live views. During an internet outage, remote viewing and notifications usually stop; whether local recording continues depends on the camera, hub, and storage design. Local footage stored only on the doorbell can also disappear if the device is stolen. For important evidence, consider an indoor hub, automatic off-device backup, an NVR, or optional cloud redundancy.

Consider privacy and account security

Review where recordings, thumbnails, and detection data are processed. Enable two-factor authentication where available, use a unique password, update firmware, and limit shared users. Local storage reduces dependence on cloud retention but is not automatically safer: a stolen doorbell can take its only copy of the footage, while an exposed microSD card can be removed.

Bottom line

Choose the Tapo D225 for the strongest all-around no-subscription setup, especially if package visibility and local AI detection matter. Choose Reolink’s battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) for its longer manufacturer battery-life claim, but verify the exact model and storage bundle. Choose eufy C31 if you already use eufy HomeBase, Blink 2K+ if you are invested in Alexa and accept its module-and-USB requirement, and Aqara G410 only after confirming the current U.S. configuration and platform support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can these doorbells record without Wi-Fi?

Some may continue saving clips locally during an internet outage, but remote viewing and push notifications generally require an active network connection. Confirm offline behavior for the exact model and hub.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can a battery doorbell record continuously?

Generally no. Continuous recording uses substantial power. The Tapo D225 supports 24/7 recording only when hardwired.

Do I need a microSD card?

You need one for local recording on the Tapo D225. Blink instead requires a Sync Module 2 and USB drive, while eufy, Reolink, and Aqara storage requirements depend on the exact package.

Can I view recordings remotely without paying monthly?

Yes, when the selected system supports local storage and its hub or doorbell remains online. The recording is local, but remote access may still rely on the manufacturer’s account and servers.
