The tiny home described as looking like an iPhone is Chery Industries’ Apple Cabin, a prefab cabin that Gizmodo reported Walmart was selling in October 2024. That story listed the smallest version at $11,800 and the 20-foot model at $17,400; those are historical prices, not confirmed current offers. Chery’s product pages still list Apple Cabin models, but they do not establish today’s Walmart price or stock for the exact unit.
What is the Walmart “iPhone” tiny home?
It is a prefabricated cabin marketed by Chery Industries as the Apple Cabin. Its compact, rectangular design prompted the iPhone comparison in Gizmodo’s October 17, 2024 report. The nickname is a visual description, not the product’s formal name or evidence that the cabin is an Apple product.
Gizmodo reported that Walmart was offering the 20-foot Apple Cabin for $17,400 at the time of publication, and that the smallest version was priced at $11,800. Those figures should be read strictly as prices reported in October 2024. Current manufacturer product pages confirm the Apple Cabin line is listed, but do not confirm current Walmart inventory or pricing for either model. Gizmodo’s 2024 report
What does the 20-foot Apple Cabin include?
Chery Industrial’s current product page describes a steel-structure cabin measuring 20 × 7.4 × 7.7 feet and weighing 4,563.6 pounds. The manufacturer lists a washroom with shower, an R-value of 10.47, a snow load of 42 lb/ft² and a wind load of 46 mph. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent test results or a guarantee that the cabin is suitable for a particular site or climate.

The listing says the cabin is not wired and advises hiring an electrician to install American-standard wiring. It also says a forklift or equivalent is needed to unload the delivered unit. Plan for electrical work and equipment access rather than assuming delivery means the cabin is ready to occupy. Chery Industrial’s 20-foot Apple Cabin listing
How does the 13-foot model differ?
Chery’s 13-foot Apple Cabin listing gives dimensions of 13 × 7.4 × 7.7 feet and a weight of 2,425 pounds. The page likewise calls for a forklift or equivalent for unloading and recommends hiring an electrician for American-standard wiring. These measurements and handling details apply to the 13-foot unit; do not use them as specifications for the heavier 20-foot cabin. Chery Industrial’s 13-foot Apple Cabin listing

Is every prefab home listed at Walmart the Apple Cabin?
No. Walmart Business also lists a separate Chery Industrial expandable prefab house measuring 19 by 20 feet. It is a different product, not another name for the Apple Cabin. Its listing describes a 7,849-pound package, flatbed shipping, forklift or crane unloading, required assembly and a recommended concrete base. Those logistics are specific to that listing, not general specifications for Apple Cabin models or prefab homes as a category. Walmart Business listing for the separate expandable prefab house
What should you verify before buying or placing one?
Delivery and site access
Ask the seller how the unit will arrive, what unloading equipment is required, and whether your driveway, gate, ground conditions and placement area can accommodate the delivery vehicle and lifting equipment. The 20-foot Apple Cabin listing calls for forklift-equivalent unloading; confirm the delivery plan and any costs directly with the seller before ordering.

Electrical and other utilities
Because the 20-foot cabin is listed as unwired, budget for an electrician and confirm what electrical work is needed for your intended use. Establish separately how water, wastewater and other utilities would connect at your site; the product description’s inclusion of a washroom and shower does not establish that utility hookups are included or installed.
Foundation, permits and allowed use
Check with your local building and planning authorities before purchase. Rules can depend on location, parcel, foundation, intended occupancy and the structure’s classification. Gizmodo’s 2024 article discussed a 400-square-foot floor-area threshold in the context of New York; that is a jurisdiction-specific reference from that report, not a nationwide rule or a determination of current requirements for your property. Confirm the applicable codes, permits, zoning and occupancy rules with local authorities. Gizmodo’s discussion of siting and New York rules
