A fabric can feel cool for the first few seconds because it draws heat away from your skin. This is a contact sensation, not proof that your body will remain cooler for eight hours.
Thermal buffering

How to test it honestly at home
If you buy one, treat your first week as a personal comparison rather than proof of a universal result.
- Record bedroom temperature, relative humidity, mattress, sheets, sleepwear, fan or HVAC settings, and the number of sleepers.
- Compare the Dream Valley comforter with your normal cotton comforter or another lightweight blanket under otherwise similar conditions.
- Note surface sensation at first contact, then your comfort at roughly 30 minutes, two hours, four hours, and morning.

An infrared thermometer can supplement observations, but emissivity, angle, distance, and reflective fabric make consumer readings unreliable as a standalone sleep-temperature test.
