The Innaloo pub formerly known as The Saint George Hotel—usually called The Saint—reopened in August 2024 as The Morris, reviving the name it had when it first opened in the 1950s. The refurbishment was reported at $3 million and reshaped the venue around four named spaces: the Front Bar, Patio, Hall and Terrace.
Why The Saint became The Morris again
The venue’s name has come full circle. The Morris Hotel was its original name, according to The Morris. It later became the Saint George Hotel, widely known as The Saint, before returning to Morris for its 2024 reopening. The operator presented the change as a return to the pub’s historical identity, alongside a major refurbishment.
The Morris was built in the 1950s, according to the operator and local reporting. In May 2024, Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH) outlined plans for an upgrade costing close to $3 million and a return to the Morris name. The venue ultimately reopened in August, rather than the mid-July launch anticipated in that preview. PerthNow reported that the doors opened the Friday before its 6 August story; ALH’s reopening announcement was dated 8 August.
What changed in the renovation
ALH reported a $3 million renovation and a capacity of up to 1,500 people across four designated spaces. That is the operator’s reported figure, not an independently verified attendance count. The reopening coverage described the venue’s spaces as follows:

The May preview referred separately to plans for four bars. That planned bar count should not be confused with the four named spaces in the reopening coverage.
What the reopening menu featured
At reopening, ALH described the menu as elevated pub classics made with local produce. The operator said its beef was predominantly sourced from Dardanup in the South West, and named swordfish from Rottnest Island, scallops from Shark Bay, lobsters from Geraldton and snapper from Exmouth. These are sourcing claims from the reopening period, not a guarantee about current suppliers or the menu today.

The West Australian’s August 2024 coverage mentioned bangers and mash, sausage rolls, Sunday roast and a chips-and-gravy pizza. ALH WA Executive Chef Wendy Miedzinski said, “The focus on simplicity really lets the quality of local produce shine through.”
