Bottom line: The Brondell Swash 1400 delivers an unusually complete luxury-seat feature set—continuous warm water, a heated seat, dryer, deodorizer, night-light and remote—but its wash can feel underpowered. Brondell documents a low-pressure troubleshooting path, while owner discussions frequently compare its pressure unfavorably with stronger seats. That is a recurring user-experience trade-off, not a published failure rate or controlled performance benchmark.
What you get for the money
The Swash 1400 (S1400) is an electric bidet toilet seat sold in round and elongated versions. Its feature list is the main reason to consider it: on-demand warm water, a heated seat, warm-air drying, a programmable wireless remote, LED night-light, replaceable carbon deodorizer, dual stainless-steel self-cleaning nozzles, seven nozzle positions, adjustable spray width and pressure, eco mode, and a gentle-close lid that can be sat on.

The big flaw: wash pressure
The S1400 provides three selectable water-pressure levels and a maximum rear/front wash flow of 0.13 gallons per minute (Brondell, 2025). Brondell also publishes a dedicated low-pressure troubleshooting path for S1400 owners. Independent user discussions describe the spray as weaker than some non-electric bidets and competing electric seats.

Those reports establish a meaningful buying consideration, but not that every unit is defective. No controlled pressure comparison or population-wide failure statistic is published in the available material. Users who prefer a forceful rinse should treat pressure as the decisive risk and buy with the seller’s return terms in mind.
What to check if the spray seems weak
- Confirm the home’s shutoff valve is fully open and the supply hose is not kinked.
- Follow Brondell’s S1400 low-pressure troubleshooting instructions rather than increasing pressure beyond the seat’s settings.
- Inspect the inlet filter and nozzle area as directed by the manual; sediment or foreign matter can restrict flow.
- If pressure remains unsatisfactory, contact Brondell before disassembling the seat. Unapproved work can complicate warranty service.
Water temperature and continuity
The S1400 uses a 1,200-watt water heater and advertises on-demand, effectively continuous warm water rather than a small storage tank running cold after one wash. Brondell lists four water-temperature levels; the high setting is listed as 100°F. The 0.13-gallon-per-minute maximum flow and three pressure levels still define the spray experience, so “endless” warm water does not mean unlimited pressure.

Will it fit your toilet?
Measure the bowl and mounting area before ordering. Brondell requires at least 1.5 inches between the bolt-hole centers and the tank. Its fit guide places elongated bowls at 18–19.5 inches and round bowls at 16.5–17.75 inches, measured from the bolt holes to the front of the bowl.

Correct bowl shape does not guarantee a visually flush installation. Some owners report the seat projecting forward, so check the hinge-to-tank clearance and the bowl’s available flat mounting surface as well as the front-to-back measurement. You also need a nearby 120V outlet and enough side and rear clearance for the water connection and controls.

Round versus elongated Swash 1400
The choice is determined by the toilet, not by a different feature package. Round and elongated units share the S1400 functions, controls and electrical requirements; the shell dimensions differ mainly in length. Select the version that matches the measured bowl range above. Do not assume an elongated seat will work on a round bowl simply because the mounting holes line up.
Installation: simple plumbing, essential electrical planning
Brondell says, “We’ve designed the Swash 1400 to be installed by anyone—no plumbers or plumbing knowledge required.” Typical work involves removing the existing seat, fitting the mounting plate, connecting the supplied T-valve and hose to the toilet’s cold-water supply, and plugging the seat into a 120V outlet. Follow the model’s installation instructions for the exact sequence and leak checks.

- Measure the toilet and verify the 1.5-inch tank clearance before opening the package.
- Shut off the toilet’s water supply, flush to relieve tank pressure, and remove the old seat.
- Install and align the S1400 mounting plate, then slide and lock the seat in place.
- Connect the T-valve and bidet hose, reopen the shutoff valve slowly, and inspect every joint for leaks.
- Plug into the 120V outlet and test spray, temperature, dryer, remote pairing and night-light functions.
If you do not have a suitable outlet or prefer not to work on the supply connection, arrange qualified local labor. The open-box information points customers to Taskrabbit for installation help; labor availability and price vary by location.
Ownership, warranty and running requirements
The S1400 is covered by Brondell’s limited three-year tiered warranty. The terms exclude damage caused by sediment or foreign matter and by negligent or improper installation. They also disclaim many labor, removal, repair and incidental costs. Keep the purchase receipt, install exactly as instructed, and retain records of any service.

The seat requires 120V/60Hz power. Its listed heated-seat power is 50W, while the water heater is rated at 1,200W. Those ratings describe the appliance’s electrical requirements; they do not establish a particular change to your utility bill.
