The Weber Original Kettle Premium 22-inch is the best charcoal grill for most people. It offers enough cooking space for a family, reliable two-zone grilling, useful built-in features, and a much lower price than a ceramic kamado. Choose the Napoleon Professional 22 if you want more grate-height and smoking adjustments; the Kamado Joe Classic Joe III or Weber Summit Kamado E6 if smoking and high-heat cooking are central; the Large Big Green Egg for its dealer and accessory ecosystem; or the PK300 if portability and cast-aluminum durability matter most.
This guide brings together current manufacturer specifications and published testing from Proven Pantry, Good Housekeeping, Ideal Home, Consumer Reports, AmazingRibs, and other review outlets. The grills were not independently cooked on by this article’s publisher, so test observations are attributed to those publications rather than presented as first-hand results. Prices, model suffixes, bundles, warranties, and availability are U.S. research snapshots and should be checked before buying.

These prices are not directly comparable. The Big Green Egg price may not include a nest, table, convEGGtor, assembly, or delivery. The Kamado Joe figure is for the standalone version researched. The Napoleon manufacturer page identified the current U.S. model as PRO22K-LEG-3 and listed it as in-store only. Check the exact model, included stand, accessories, seller, and delivery terms before treating any price as a final setup cost.
1. Weber Original Kettle Premium 22-inch: best charcoal grill for most people
The Weber Original Kettle Premium is the safest default recommendation because it gets the fundamentals right without imposing kamado-level cost, weight, or learning curve. Its 22-inch grate provides 363 square inches of primary cooking area, enough room for everyday burgers and chicken while leaving space for an indirect heat zone.

Weber’s design includes a porcelain-enameled bowl and lid, a built-in lid thermometer, adjustable dampers, a hinged plated-steel cooking grate, and a high-capacity enclosed ash catcher. The hinged grate is particularly useful when you need to add charcoal or wood without removing the entire cooking surface. The familiar kettle shape also gives new charcoal cooks a straightforward way to learn airflow and two-zone fire management.
Published testing supports its all-around status. Proven Pantry selected the closely related 2026 Original Kettle Premium as its best grill for most backyards after a 10-week test involving steaks, pork shoulders, whole chickens, and temperature-stability checks. Good Housekeeping, which reports testing more than 90 grills overall, also named the Weber Original Kettle Premium its best charcoal grill.
#1 Best Overall
- This premium Weber kettle grill has space to hold up to 13 burgers made with a Weber burger press; The durable-plated steel cooking grate, crafted from premium steel, offers a resilient surface that stands up to the demands of frequent grilling
- Easy Ash Cleanup: The One-Touch cleaning system included in the black charcoal grill has a removable aluminized, high-capacity ash catcher allowing for efficient and less frequent removal of ash from the bottom of the grill
- Durability and Flavor Retention: Porcelain-enameled lid and bowl are engineered to withstand high temperatures and retain heat; Bowl and lid combination on outdoor grill resist rust and won't peel
- Glass-Reinforced Nylon Handles: Kettle grill's handles were crafted with precision and durability in mind; Reinforced with high-quality, glass-infused nylon, ensuring they can withstand the demands of frequent use and exposure to heat
- Real-Time Temperature Monitoring: Built-in Lid Thermometer takes the guesswork out of grilling, displaying the internal temperature of your black charcoal and BBQ grill
At the time of research, Weber listed a U.S. manufacturer price of $229. That is more than a basic kettle, but the premium model’s ash collection, hinged grate, thermometer, porcelain-enamel construction, and broad accessory ecosystem make the difference worthwhile for many buyers.
Why buy it
- Best balance of price, capacity, simplicity, and versatility.
- Well suited to direct grilling, two-zone cooking, and occasional smoking.
- Large ecosystem of grates, charcoal baskets, covers, thermometers, and smoking accessories.
- More approachable for beginners than a ceramic kamado.
What to accept
- Temperature control is manual and requires attention to fuel, vents, and weather.
- The steel grate and kettle body do not retain heat like a thick ceramic cooker.
- The $229 manufacturer price is higher than entry-level kettles.
Buy the Weber if: you want one charcoal grill that can handle weeknight meals, family cookouts, and occasional low-and-slow cooking without turning the purchase into a major outdoor-kitchen project.
2. Napoleon Professional 22: best feature-rich traditional kettle
The Napoleon Professional 22 charcoal grill, identified on Napoleon’s current U.S. page as model PRO22K-LEG-3, is the choice for someone who likes the basic kettle format but wants more built-in adjustment and smoking access. It has a 21.5-inch main cooking area and 360 square inches of total cooking area, with a stated capacity of up to 22 burgers.
Its cast-iron cooking grid can be adjusted to three elevations. That lets you move food closer to or farther from the fire, a useful control that ordinary kettles generally lack. The grid is hinged for adding charcoal or smoking wood, while the offset hinged lid, precision bottom air inlets, integrated smoke-stack chimney, stainless-steel extension ring, and probe-access doors are aimed at longer cooks and temperature monitoring.
Consumer Reports confirms that the Pro 22K-Leg-2 is included in its charcoal-grill test program, although detailed scores may require a subscription. The suffix difference matters: PRO22K-LEG-2 and PRO22K-LEG-3 are not interchangeable labels for shopping purposes, and regional inventory can differ. Napoleon’s current U.S. page listed a $389 MSRP and said the grill was available in-store only.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhy buy it
- Three-position grate height adds control over searing and slower cooking.
- Cast iron offers a substantial cooking surface and strong heat contact.
- Hinged access, probe doors, and the extension ring are useful for smoking.
- Napoleon lists a 10-year limited warranty.
What to accept
- It is heavier and more mechanically complex than the Weber kettle.
- Cast iron requires more care against moisture and neglect than plated steel.
- The current manufacturer listing says in-store only, so availability may be less convenient.
- Do not assume a rotisserie system or other accessories are included simply because the design supports them.
Buy the Napoleon if: you want a traditional kettle but expect to use grate-height adjustment, smoking access, probe thermometers, or rotisserie accessories often enough to justify the higher price.
3. Kamado Joe Classic Joe III: best ceramic kamado for serious smoking
The Kamado Joe Classic Joe III is the premium pick for cooks who want one charcoal cooker to smoke, roast, bake, and sear. Its 18-inch ceramic body provides 250 square inches of cooking space, and Kamado Joe states a 225–750°F operating range. Model KJ15040721 uses a three-tier Divide & Conquer cooking system so food can be placed at different heights and temperatures.
The cooker also includes or supports the features that distinguish this class: a stainless-steel charcoal basket, Kontrol Tower top vent, slide-out ash drawer, and SlōRoller insert for indirect cooking. Ceramic insulation holds heat efficiently for long cooks, while the multi-level rack system lets you combine direct and indirect zones in a relatively compact footprint.
Independent 2026 comparison coverage repeatedly places the Classic Joe III among the leading premium charcoal cookers. Review coverage emphasizes its versatility across brisket, pork, baking, roasting, and high-temperature searing. Those capabilities are real advantages, but they come with a substantial ownership commitment. Kamado Joe lists the standalone cooker at $1,999.99, and the unit weighs 238.8 pounds.
Why buy it
- Excellent fit for brisket, pork shoulder, bread, pizza, roasting, and high-heat searing.
- Ceramic construction provides strong insulation and heat retention.
- Three-tier cooking system creates more usable cooking positions than a single grate suggests.
- Integrated ash access and modern vent hardware reduce some of the routine friction of older kamado designs.
What to accept
- The price is many times that of a kettle.
- Its 250 square inches of primary cooking space is less than the Weber Summit Kamado E6 provides.
- At 238.8 pounds, it is not a portable grill in the ordinary consumer sense.
- Ceramic can crack or break if dropped, struck, or moved carelessly.
Buy the Kamado Joe if: smoking and baking are central to your cooking, you want ceramic heat retention, and you are prepared to provide a permanent, stable location and budget for a heavy premium cooker.

- This premium Weber kettle grill has space to hold up to 13 burgers made with a Weber burger press; The durable-plated steel cooking grate, crafted from premium steel, offers a resilient surface that stands up to the demands of frequent grilling
- Easy Ash Cleanup: The One-Touch cleaning system included in the copper charcoal grill has a removable aluminized steel, high-capacity ash catcher allowing for efficient and less frequent removal of ash from the bottom of the grill
- Real-Time Temperature Monitoring: Built-in Lid Thermometer takes the guesswork out of grilling, displaying the internal temperature of your copper charcoal and BBQ grill
4. Weber Summit Kamado E6: best large steel kamado
The Weber Summit Kamado E6 is the best match for buyers who want kamado-style insulation and versatility without a thick ceramic body. It uses dual-wall insulated steel and provides a 24-inch cooking diameter with 452 square inches of total cooking area, making it the largest cooking platform in this group by the manufacturer’s stated figures.
Weber lists adjustable fuel-grate positions for smoking or grilling, a stainless-steel diffuser plate, a Rapidfire lid damper, a One-Touch cleaning system, porcelain-enameled steel construction, and a built-in fan port. The combination is aimed at both high-heat grilling and controlled indirect cooking. Independent review coverage updated July 21, 2026 highlighted the E6’s vent control and versatility, while earlier Epicurious coverage called attention to its unusually large cooking area for a kamado-style grill.
At research time, Weber listed the E6 at $1,399 and stated a 10-year warranty for the bowl, lid, and center ring. Product status and price can change, so confirm both on the current manufacturer page or with a retailer.

- Largest stated cooking area among these six recommendations.
- Steel construction is lighter and less vulnerable to impact than ceramic, although the grill is still substantial and not portable in the normal sense.
- Strong fit for smoking, searing, and large meals.
- Review coverage credits it with responsive vent control and faster temperature changes than some heavy ceramic alternatives.
What to accept
- It remains an expensive, full-size cooker.
- Accessories such as additional cooking surfaces or specialized smoking equipment add to the total cost.
- Some comparisons consider the Kamado Joe Classic Joe III a better value if you do not need the E6’s 24-inch platform.
- Verify exactly which components the 10-year warranty covers; it does not mean every part is covered for 10 years.
Buy the Weber Summit Kamado E6 if: you want a large insulated cooker, prefer steel to ceramic, and expect to cook for groups or use several heat zones at once.
5. Large Big Green Egg: best established ceramic ecosystem
The Large Big Green Egg remains a strong choice for buyers who value a mature dealer network and extensive accessory ecosystem as much as the cooker itself. The Large has an 18.25-inch grid and 262 square inches of cooking area. Big Green Egg states a 200–750°F temperature range and gives capacity examples of up to 12 burgers, eight steaks, or a 20-pound turkey.
The Large is described by Big Green Egg as its classic and best-selling size. Its ecosystem includes the convEGGtor for indirect cooking, pizza stones, rib racks, EGGspander multi-level systems, nests, and tables. That range makes it possible to expand from direct grilling into smoking, baking, roasting, and multi-level cooking over time.
Big Green Egg listed the Large at $1,249.99 for the Egg itself during research. The headline price may not include the nest or table, convEGGtor, other accessories, assembly, or delivery. Because Big Green Egg products are commonly sold through dealers and packages vary, compare complete installed or ready-to-cook costs rather than comparing the bare ceramic cooker with a bundled competitor.

Why buy it
- Long-established ceramic grill, smoker, roaster, and baking format.
- Broad range of compatible accessories and replacement components.
- Dealer support can be valuable for delivery, assembly, setup, and parts.
- Good size for households that want kamado versatility without moving to the largest cooker class.
What to accept
- The Egg, stand, heat deflector, and working accessories may be separate purchases.
- Its 262 square inches are less than the Weber Summit Kamado E6’s stated 452 square inches.
- Ceramic construction is heavy and vulnerable to impact.
- Final pricing can be difficult to compare until a dealer provides a complete package.
Buy the Large Big Green Egg if: dealer assistance, local support, and the Big Green Egg accessory ecosystem are decisive factors in your purchase.
6. PK300 Original Grill & Smoker: best portable cast-aluminum charcoal grill
The PK300 charcoal grill is the specialist pick for patios, tailgates, second-grill duty, and cooks who prefer a compact cast-aluminum capsule to a full-size kettle or kamado. PK Grills designs it as both a grill and smoker, and the capsule body supports two-zone cooking in a smaller footprint than the large ceramic recommendations.
Its cast-aluminum bowl and lid are the main attraction. PK provides a 20-year warranty on those cast-aluminum components, with shorter coverage periods for grates, plastic parts, other metal parts, covers, and the temperature gauge. That distinction is important: the headline 20-year term applies to specific parts, not the complete grill.
Rank #3
- This premium Weber kettle grill has space to hold up to 13 burgers made with a Weber burger press; The durable-plated steel cooking grate, crafted from premium steel, offers a resilient surface that stands up to the demands of frequent grilling
- Easy Ash Cleanup: The One-Touch cleaning system included in the green charcoal grill has a removable aluminized steel, high-capacity ash catcher allowing for efficient and less frequent removal of ash from the bottom of the grill
- Real-Time Temperature Monitoring: Built-in Lid Thermometer takes the guesswork out of grilling, displaying the internal temperature of your green charcoal and BBQ grill
Independent 2026 review coverage from AmazingRibs and other reviewers treats the PK300 as a durable and versatile grill-and-smoker option. It is relatively portable compared with a full-size ceramic cooker, but it is not an ultralight grill. Its smaller cooking area, capsule shape, and vent arrangement can also take more practice for a beginner than a standard kettle.

- Cast aluminum resists the rust concerns associated with ordinary steel bodies.
- Compact enough for patios, tailgating, and use as a second grill.
- Can handle both direct grilling and indirect smoking.
- Long bowl-and-lid warranty is a notable durability benefit.
What to accept
- Cooking capacity and footprint are smaller than the Weber and kamado options.
- The price can be high for a compact grill.
- Capsule geometry and vent placement may feel less intuitive at first.
- Portability does not mean the grill is effortless to carry with fuel and accessories.
Buy the PK300 if: you need a durable compact charcoal grill that can smoke as well as sear and do not need maximum cooking capacity.
How the testing evidence should be interpreted
The phrase tested and reviewed describes the evidence behind the recommendations, not a claim that one editorial staff cooked on all six grills. Published results are not perfectly comparable because reviewers use different fuels, recipes, weather conditions, test periods, scoring systems, and definitions of value.
- Proven Pantry reported a 10-week test of five charcoal grills, including steaks, pork shoulders, whole chickens, and temperature-stability testing. Its 2026 Original Kettle Premium selection supports the Weber’s best-for-most recommendation.
- Good Housekeeping reported testing more than 90 grills overall and named the Weber Original Kettle Premium its best charcoal model.
- Ideal Home reported testing six charcoal barbecues for cooking performance, ease of use, temperature control, and value, including Weber and Kamado Joe models.
- Consumer Reports confirms that the Napoleon Pro 22K-Leg-2 is included in its charcoal-grill test program. Detailed scores may require a subscription, and the tested suffix should not automatically be assumed to be identical to every regional model.
- AmazingRibs and other reviewers provide independent support for the PK300’s durability and grill-plus-smoker versatility.
That evidence is strong enough for a useful comparative shortlist, but it is not a single controlled laboratory ranking. The best grill depends heavily on whether you prioritize price, capacity, portability, smoking, or a long-term accessory ecosystem.
How to choose the right charcoal grill
Choose the cooking format before the brand
Kettles such as the Weber and Napoleon are the practical starting point. They cost less, heat quickly, support direct and indirect cooking, and teach the core charcoal skills without requiring a large permanent installation.
Recommended Free Tools
Kamados such as the Kamado Joe, Weber Summit, and Big Green Egg are insulated charcoal cookers. Their strengths are temperature retention, long smoking sessions, baking, and high-heat searing. They cost more, weigh much more, and make less sense if you mainly cook a few burgers on weekends.
The PK300’s capsule format sits between those categories. It is compact and durable, but its geometry is different enough that shoppers should consider how they will arrange fuel, food, and accessories before assuming it will behave like a kettle.
Match capacity to the way you cook
Do not compare square-inch figures without checking whether a manufacturer means primary grate area or total cooking area. The Weber’s 363 square inches are identified as primary cooking area, while Napoleon lists 360 square inches of total cooking area. The Weber Summit’s 452-square-inch figure is also a total-area specification. Multi-level systems can increase practical capacity, but food placement, airflow, and indirect-cooking accessories still limit how much can cook efficiently.
Rank #4
- This Weber kettle grill has space to hold up to 13 burgers made with a Weber burger press; The durable-plated steel cooking grate, crafted from premium steel, offers a resilient surface that stands up to the demands of frequent grilling
- Easy Ash Cleanup: The One-Touch cleaning system included in the black charcoal grill has an aluminized steel ash catcher, allowing for efficient removal of ash from the bottom of the grill and ensuring longevity and resistance to corrosion
- Durability and Flavor Retention: Porcelain-enameled lid and bowl are engineered to withstand high temperatures and retain heat; Bowl and lid combination on outdoor grill and BBQ resist rust and won't peel
- Glass-Reinforced Nylon Handles: Kettle grill's handles were crafted with precision and durability in mind; Reinforced with high-quality, glass-infused nylon, ensuring they can withstand the demands of frequent use and exposure to heat
- Longevity and Control: Rust-resistant aluminum damper offers effortless regulation of airflow; Angled lid hook allows you to hang the lid while grilling; All-weather wheels provide easy mobility; Tool hooks help you store grilling tools
For a typical family, the 22-inch Weber is the sensible capacity target. For large gatherings or multiple simultaneous zones, the Summit Kamado E6 has the largest stated platform here. For compact storage or tailgating, the PK300 is the better fit.
Decide how much temperature control you really need
All charcoal grills require managing fuel and airflow, but the user experience differs. A kettle relies on dampers and careful charcoal arrangement. Napoleon adds grate-height adjustment and smoking access. Kamados use insulation and controlled vents to hold a stable temperature for long periods, while the Summit’s steel construction is designed to respond more quickly to changes than some ceramic cookers.
If you are buying your first charcoal grill, more controls do not automatically mean easier cooking. A Weber kettle with a reliable thermometer and chimney starter may teach you more, at lower risk and cost, than a premium cooker whose capabilities you rarely use.
Think about permanent placement and handling
None of the ceramic kamados should be treated as an everyday portable grill. The Kamado Joe Classic Joe III weighs 238.8 pounds, and the Large Big Green Egg also requires a suitable stand or table. The Summit is made from steel rather than ceramic, but its large insulated construction still calls for a stable, permanent location.
Before assembly, follow the manufacturer’s clearance and placement instructions. Use a stable, level base appropriate for the grill, keep combustible materials away from the cooking area, and do not operate a charcoal grill indoors, in a garage, or in an enclosed or poorly ventilated space. If you are planning an outdoor-kitchen installation, verify that the exact model is approved for that type of installation; a freestanding grill should not automatically be enclosed in cabinetry.
Compare complete ownership cost
The purchase price is only the beginning with premium kamados. Budget for a stand or nest, heat-deflector system, cover, ash tools, charcoal, thermometers, and delivery or assembly where needed. With a Big Green Egg, specifically check whether the quote includes the Egg, nest or table, convEGGtor, assembly, and delivery.
For kettles, accessories are less expensive but still affect the experience. A chimney starter, fire starters, heat-resistant gloves, cover, charcoal baskets, wireless thermometer, rib rack, pizza stone, or rotisserie system may be more useful than spending extra on a larger cooker.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Accessories that improve charcoal cooking
Start with a chimney starter
A Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter is a practical first accessory for any charcoal grill. It provides a repeatable way to light charcoal without relying on lighter fluid and is useful whether you buy the Weber, Napoleon, PK300, or a kamado. Pair it with fire starters and heat-resistant gloves, and keep the starter on a noncombustible surface while it is hot.
Add a dedicated smoking or searing accessory only when it matches your grill
The Slow ‘N Sear Deluxe is designed for controlled two-zone cooking and smoking. SnS Grills states compatibility with all 22-inch Weber kettles, multiple 22-inch Napoleon kettles, the 26-inch Weber kettle, and the 22-inch Weber Smokey Mountain. That does not mean every grate or regional model is interchangeable: confirm the exact grill, grate geometry, and accessory dimensions before ordering.

Big Green Egg lists the convEGGtor, pizza stone, rib rack, and EGGspander as part of its accessory ecosystem; Kamado Joe provides its own Divide & Conquer and indirect-cooking accessories. Best Value
- The ritual of charcoal grilling meets the convenient features and the wow factor of the Master-Touch.
- GOURMET BBQ SYSTEM: Cooking grate is compatible with Gourmet BBQ System inserts and is hinged for easily adding charcoal while grilling.
- EASY CLEAN: The One-Touch Cleaning System provides hassle-free cleanup of charcoal ash and debris by swiping it into a high-capacity, removable ash catcher.
- LID HOLDER: Slide the lid into the Tuck-Away lid holder on the side of the grill to avoid placing it on the ground.
- EXTRA SPACE: Room to grill 13 burgers and use the warming rack to keep food warm or toast buns.
Useful supporting equipment
- Dual-probe or wireless thermometer: monitors food and pit temperature without repeatedly lifting the lid.
- Charcoal baskets: help create repeatable indirect zones in compatible kettles.
- Heavy-duty gloves and long tools: protect hands when moving grates, fuel, or hot accessories.
- A fitted cover: reduces exposure to rain and grime, but the grill should be cool and dry before covering.
- Rib racks and pizza stones: useful only if you regularly cook those foods and the accessory is confirmed compatible.
A practical charcoal-grill setup checklist
- Confirm the exact model and package. Model suffixes matter, especially for the Napoleon Professional 22. Check whether the stand, grate, diffuser, nest, cover, and assembly are included.
- Prepare the location. Follow the manual’s clearance requirements and place the grill on a stable, level surface away from combustible structures and overhead obstructions.
- Plan fuel storage. Keep charcoal and fire starters dry and away from children, ignition sources, and areas where they can become damp.
- Buy a thermometer and chimney starter. The built-in lid thermometer measures the cooking environment near the lid; a probe at grate level can provide a different reading.
- Learn two-zone cooking first. Bank lit charcoal on one side and leave the other side cooler. Sear over direct heat, then move food to indirect heat to finish.
- Let the grill stabilize. Adjust vents gradually and allow the temperature to respond before making another large change.
- Clean safely after cooking. Remove ash only after the fuel is fully cold, keep vents clear, and inspect grates and seals according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Which grill should you buy?
| If your priority is… | Choose… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best overall value and versatility | Weber Original Kettle Premium | Strong capacity, simple two-zone setup, and a broad accessory ecosystem. |
| More kettle-based control | Napoleon Professional 22 | Three grate heights, cast iron, hinged smoking access, and probe doors. |
| Smoking, baking, and searing | Kamado Joe Classic Joe III | Ceramic insulation, multi-level cooking, and a stated 225–750°F range. |
| Large insulated cooking area | Weber Summit Kamado E6 | 452 total square inches and a 24-inch steel kamado platform. |
| Dealer support and accessories | Large Big Green Egg | Mature ecosystem with nests, tables, convEGGtor, EGGspander, and other accessories. |
| Compact durability and portability | PK300 | Cast-aluminum construction and grill-plus-smoker capability in a smaller format. |
Warranty and availability cautions
Warranty length should not be compared without checking which components it covers. Napoleon lists a 10-year limited warranty for the Professional 22. Weber lists a 10-year warranty for the Summit Kamado E6’s bowl, lid, and center ring. PK Grills provides 20 years for the PK300’s cast-aluminum bowl and lid, with shorter coverage for grates, plastic parts, other metal parts, covers, and the temperature gauge. The research used here does not establish equivalent warranty terms for every component of the Weber Original Kettle Premium, Kamado Joe Classic Joe III, or Large Big Green Egg, so confirm the current warranty document before purchase.
Availability is equally fluid. Napoleon’s current U.S. listing identifies the PRO22K-LEG-3 and says in-store only, while regional model suffixes differ. Big Green Egg is often sold through dealers, and bundles can vary substantially. Marketplace listings can show a different seller, model suffix, package, or price than the manufacturer page. Verify the live listing and seller rather than relying on an old button, cached price, or third-party availability claim.
Frequently Asked Questions
Were all six grills tested by this article’s staff?
No. This article synthesizes published testing and review coverage. Proven Pantry, Good Housekeeping, Ideal Home, Consumer Reports, AmazingRibs, and other outlets used different testing methods, so their results are evidence for the recommendations rather than a single in-house laboratory ranking.
What is the best charcoal grill for a first-time buyer?
The Weber Original Kettle Premium 22-inch is the best starting point for most first-time buyers. It offers enough capacity for family cooking, supports direct and two-zone grilling, and costs substantially less than a ceramic kamado. A chimney starter and a reliable thermometer make the learning process easier.
Which of these grills is best for smoking brisket or pork shoulder?
The Kamado Joe Classic Joe III is the strongest premium choice for serious smoking because of its ceramic insulation, three-tier cooking system, indirect-cooking insert, and stated 225–750°F range. The Weber Summit Kamado E6 is better if you need a larger cooking platform, while the Weber or Napoleon kettle can smoke effectively at a lower purchase price with more hands-on fire management.
Is the Large Big Green Egg price a complete setup price?
Not necessarily. The researched $1,249.99 figure was for the Egg itself. A nest or table, convEGGtor, cover, assembly, and delivery may be separate. Ask the dealer for a complete ready-to-cook price.
Can I use a Slow ‘N Sear Deluxe in any kettle grill?
No. SnS Grills identifies specific compatible Weber and Napoleon models, but grate geometry and model variations matter. Confirm the exact grill and accessory dimensions before buying.

The Bottom Line
For most backyards, buy the Weber Original Kettle Premium 22-inch. It delivers the best balance of price, cooking area, two-zone versatility, and manageable ownership. Step up to the Napoleon Professional 22 for more kettle controls, choose the Kamado Joe Classic Joe III or Weber Summit Kamado E6 for serious insulated cooking, select the Large Big Green Egg for its dealer ecosystem, and choose the PK300 when compact cast-aluminum durability matters more than capacity.
